Ergobaby Adapt Baby Carrier $189 (Was $219) @ Baby Bunting

130

So i've been looking at getting a baby carrier for little one that's coming soon.
I was originally looking at getting the Ergobaby 360 but it needs to be used with an infant insert for newborns (looks really difficult judging by the youtube instructional videos)

Ergobaby recently released the Adapt which can be used from newborn without an insert which I have been eyeing.
You can find more info here http://www.ergobaby.com.au/carriers/collections/adapt-carrie…

This is the first time i've seen it for sale.
Hope it helps!

  • I saw this. Looks good if you really need a sturdy carrier for small newborns. I am currently using my second ergo 360 (the new mesh model). First 360 was the grey one which i sold for the mesh because i liked the new snap closure and it felt a little lighter for summer. Old 360 had that velcro waist closure which was a bit more annoying, especially if bub is sleeping and you make a lot of noise unwrapping the velcro.
    I had the infant insert to go with the 360 as well. When i took it out to try with my 1 month old bub, his legs were already too cramped in the recommended frog-leg position. He seemed to have outgrown it as he kept crying and looked quite uncomfortable. This Adapt may work better with newborns but I do really like my 360. The front facing position for bubs with established neck control has been absolutely wonderful. Babies love seeing the world and people around them. The only time he faces inwards is when he is napping. Good luck with your baby and let us know how the Adapt goes for you!

    • yeah I was also a bit wary with the velcro closures on the 360, wasn't sure if it would wake baby getting it on and off.
      Thanks for the well wishes

      • It did wake my baby up once or twice haha. I love the new 360 mesh model, doesnt have the same problem anymore

    • Yes, thats the ergo 360 i mentioned in my comment above. Such a great carrier that keeps baby's legs in the recommended M position for healthy hip development. OP posted this deal on the Adapt model because it is a brand new one that had just been released. Some people and babies dont like the infant insert from other models so this Adapt carrier is perfect for them.

    • Good find, the insert looks super fiddly though, ain't nobody got time for that :P

      Nice! I was just checking my emails and it is part of Baby Kingdom's special 21st birthday sale!

  • I have the 360 with infant insert, unopened and with the receipt. What would you guys do? Should i return it to Target, get my money and buy that one?

      When are you planning to use it? Bub coming soon or already here? If you want to use it straight away, the infant insert does work well. Depends for each child and how big they are as well, but it is also very cosy for them. There is a very recent pic of John Legend carrying his baby in the insert too :) if you have the funds, you can get this and then buy the 360 again when it's at a cheaper price (whenever bub is ready to move to the 360). If baby carrying isnt too important for you in the early days then keep the 360. Saves you money and you dont have to buy 2 carriers (thats if you want the front facing ability). Some people only carry during newborn days, while others have their bubs in the pram bassinet/capsule when travelling. Whatever you think will work out better for your family. If you are in sydney, there are baby wearing facebook groups where people meet up and you can try them all on with knowledgable people helping you out. There may be one for melbourne as well.

      • Baby is here.. 1 month old and we were planning on starting to use it in the very near future.. Sorry i am bit new at this but are you suggesting that the Ergobaby Adapt Baby Carrier can only be used for a limited amount of time? Why would you have to switch from Adapt to 360?

        • I tried to word it properly but it seems i didnt haha. I meant that if you really want the front facing ability of the 360 but dont like the infant insert, you can always use the adapt model first then swap to 360 later (if it doesnt sound too bad financially). You should try bub in the 360 with insert and see how he/she fits. Personally, as your baby is 1 month old already and you havent started using the carrier yet, i think you should just keep the 360 and dont worry about the adapt model. The infant insert can be used up until baby is 4-5 months old/5.5kg max, or whenever they have developed head/neck control. I strongly recommend contacting Babes in Arms, who are the official distributor of Ergobaby products in Australia. They can give you proper advice and help you decide :)

        • From memory, the Ergobaby carrier boxes have minimal packaging. It is basically in a cardboard box that was not sealed with tape or anything (judging from the 2 boxes i bought from Baby Bunting). Just try your baby in it at home to see how it goes.

        • @khdsl:

          sorry, my bad- i misinterpreted what you said. It makes sense now. I did not realise the Adapt could not be turned around just like the 360 (adapt- ah the irony!). It is sealed with a small circular tape/ sticker which can easily be removed and put back in. I think I will follow your advice and try the 360 before deciding. Thanks khdsl

        • @Zinger: Not a problem, good luck!

          @mrtin:

          we tried it over the weekend… very easy indeed!

        • @Zinger: it is! Just that some babies dont like it so im glad you tried it on! Going to keep it?

          @khdsl:

          our baby liked it but as mrtin was saying, i can see how it would get really hot in summer. Verdict: YES, we are keeping it! :)

    From the image it looks like it could double as a flak jacket.

      I've worn my 360 carrier without my son in it (he was running around). I put some of my shopping bags in haha
