    What, no WiFi?

  • already picked up the $59 target pressure cooker, otherwise I'd be in for this. Nice to have combined slow/pressure cook.

I've had this thing for about 3-4 years and it still gets used at least twice a week. It's great.

    • Can confirm; this is a good machine.

Protip: pork ribs, marinate, cook on high pressure for 20 minutes, bake in oven for 10 minutes (to brown a bit). As good as (or better than) 4 hour slow-cooked ribs cooked the 'old' way!

    • I've only used this breville machine for cooking rice a couple of times a few months ago (a friends machine) and it turned out great each time.

I bought a phillips all in one couple of weeks ago and love it. Made ribs and rice under the pressure cooking setting in it so far and comes out perfect each time.

93 Excellent/Good/OK reviews vs 28 Bad/Terrible reviews is pretty good overall. Especially on the Product Review website which seems to always favour bad reviews.

You'll find most of the bad reviews are linked to a faulty seal on the lid. There was a recall on this and a free replacement given to those affected.

So if you buy one it is worth checking that your lid is fine (I assume all new stock is okay)

EDIT: Whoops meant to reply to @lordra

Great point. And the likelihood of those bad reviews coming back to post after receiving the replacement seal? I'd say zilch.

My parents have one and use it all the time.

When my father talked to the rep regarding the recall it seems it was down to people not installing the seal correctly, on the seal it has arrows indicating where it is fitted and which way is up. The old seal was a translucent white so the arrows and other markings were hard to see. The replacement seal is a dark grey, presumably so the markings are easier to see and reduce the chance of user error.

The user manual clearly explains how to install the seal, so it sounds like a case of people not reading the manual.

    • Thanks for posting info about the recall. I've owned this for 2 years now and rarely use it because it's so hard to get sealing correctly. Have read the manual multiple times on installing the seal correctly too.

      • I find the best way to seal it is to lock the lid in place, then lift the lid directly up with the handle and push it down quickly and then hold it down for 10-15 seconds. That let's the steam build up and it stays locked.

Otherwise sometimes it will sit there building up steam for 10-15 minutes wasting time.

        • Cheers. Will give it a shot

    Cheers lyl

  • Just don't forget to check serial number http://www.breville.com.au/recall

  • Comparing this to the Target Bellini one it seems that the Bellini can easily double as a rice cooker.

How is this Breville for cooking plain white rice? Is it easy enough to use a regular rice cooker????
