It's a great unit. Got it after I smashed my 500. It's much better to use.
Evans are a great company and often have way better deals than anyone else plus they should send it DHL so you should have it pretty quick
It seems to me that $219 magellan cyclo 505 is a much better buy because of speed/cadence bonus and real gps navigation.
Very different units. The Magellan is more of a Nav unit with some handy extras…still a good unit.
The Edge 520 is more sport/fitness oriented. It's a fantastic unit which connects to HR monitors and a vast array of other gear and measures a whole heap of health and sport metrics.
I have the Magellan and it does link to HR monitors, cadence sensors and power meters. I would find it hard to pay that price given the prices they were on sale for last year.
The Magellan is a great unit for sure. I meant more the metrics and way the Garmin can be set up is a little better for sport. Also its a lot smaller and lighter than the Magellan….which could be a plus or minus depending on what you use it for.
Definitely better value for money than the Garmin…especially if you want something that is a navigation device. It'd be better to compare it with the Garmin 1000 the the 520

I thought the bundle was usually around 430 delivered, and the unit only was around 340.I've owned the Magellan Cyclo 505hc from last time Pushys had it on sale.
I found it frustrating that it would refuse to start recording your ride until it had satellite lock. So I was not able to record my commute on the way home as I started in an underground carpark and it would not lock/start until ~2-3km later.
Note that the Magellan speed and cadence sensor is old style (single unit with magnets).
The new Garmin seems less annoying.Since then, I've been monitoring the prices of the Edge 520/1000 to see if there was any deal to be had (using Strava atm).
Doesn't seem like a deal to me.
