  • Anyone had any experience with the K cook

  • Photo mugs!!

  • Any LED globes at 50% off?

    • +1

Mirabella, probably some of the cheapest LEDs when 50% off.

      • Thanks, do you think they're worthwhile?

        • +1

          They're worth(it)while they last. :)

According to this thread, they 'may have a shorter life': https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/249050

I say go for it. I'm thinking of replacing a bunch too with these.

  • Merged from BigW Photo Mugs $6 (Normally $19)

BigW photo mugs are back for $6. Can choose standard (left-handed or right-handed), or full image. http://www.bigwphotos.com.au/category/photo-gifts/mugs-drink…

Add delivery (approx $4.95) if required, no delivery charge if collected at a BigW store.

hmm starting to run out of room for my 'mugs from famous fictional businesses' collection. But still have a few companies to get done like the Daily Bugle and ACME.

      • Have you got any example designs of such mugs to share?

        • Just ordered Spacely Sprokets and Greendale College. Although Crane, Poole and Schmidt almost made the cut.

Here's a picture of a few I have in the collection at the moment - http://imgur.com/zOQXRBj

what is the limit to text and/or images some may deem offensive that they will print?

    • +1

nice price defiantly worth it if you want a set of mugs ,Unfortunately for me i went through the whole process made 4 mugs and then got 6 failed to login messages so i just cancelled the lot…ah well moving on

    • I love these mugs. They make great gifts for friends.

    • How long does it take for these to be ready to collect?

      • Ok, i think I found the answer:

Delivery Times: Please allow approximately 10 working days for your order to arrive in the mail or to be ready to be picked up in store.

Can anyone verify if that is about right?

        • Did one a couple of years back, was ready for pickup in store about 7-8 days from memory

    • A pity they will not print the base, Moss-style.

Merged from Mirabella LED (& Halogen) Globes 50% off at Big W Stocktake Sale + Updated Brand Comparison

Mirabella globes are half price at Big W.
Unfortunately, most of the better value-for-money higher wattage LED globes were sold out at my local store.
Also, the Coles half price deal from several weeks ago is still better, e.g. the 11W / 1000 lumen LED globe has a usual price of $13 at Coles, and $15 at Big W.

Given the 2-week duration of the sale, there is a small chance of stock being replenished. This surprisingly happened at Coles (their sale for the Mirabella LED globes also lasted 2 weeks). Perhaps a Big W employee could tell us what the chances are of restocking during the sale, given that this is a mid-year/stocktake sale.

Woolworths also have 20% off most of their Philips LED range till 7/6/16. This is the biggest discount I've seen to date (it's usually 10%). The more efficient 10.5W globe is unfortunately full price - perhaps because they only recently started stocking this.

Below is my list of pros and cons of each of the major brands available in Australia
I have updated my table which shows efficiency ratings for each globe type and where you get value for money.

    PDF version
    Excel version
(Compared with the original table posted on 21/5/16 it is now easier to identify the best value globes depending on whether purchase cost, running cost or brightness are most important to you. Sweet spots are highlighted.)

    SUMMARY
    - Mirabella LED globes are the best value for money overall when they are half price at Coles (and less so at Big W); highest wattage globes run out quickly during sales
    - Aldi (Muller Licht) LED globes are the best value for money for higher wattages (13W, 15W), but these run out very quickly; however, there are multiple OzBargainer reports of them not lasting very long
    - Luce Bella LED globes are probably the next best value for money, especially for the higher wattage globes; they supposedly also last the longest
    - Ikea have a few good value globes (see the table), but they tend to be Edison Screw only
    - Megaman and Osram have decent 10/10.5W globes, but avoid their other globes
    - Philips LED globes are arguably the most technically advanced (brightest, smallest, lightest, coolest running; may last longest in real life), but are the most expensive with relatively small discounts when they are on sale

    Luce Bella
    Stockists: Bunnings
Pros: Cheap 2-pack prices; efficient and bright 16W globe; longest lasting; you never have to wait for a sale
Cons: Available in 2-packs only; less efficient globes for 14W and below

    Megaman
    Stockists: Woolworths (Online)
    Pros: Good value 10W globe
    Cons: Limited range and availability

    Mirabella
    Stockists: Coles, Kmart, Big W
Pros: best sale prices (50% off at Coles)
Cons: may have a shorter life

    Muller Licht / Aldi
    Stockists: Aldi
Pros: best value/prices for higher wattage lamps; dimmable, last 2nd longest
Cons: lower wattage lamps less value for money (as same price as higher wattage lamps)

    Osram
    Stockists: Bunnings
Pros: Efficient and competitively priced 10.5W globe
Cons: All other globes (non-10.5W) uncompetitive [avoid]

    Philips
Stockists: Bunnings, Masters (all); Woolworths (<13W)
Pros: generally most efficient, brightest, smallest, run less hot
Cons: most expensive, smallest discounts when on sale (10-20%) at Woolworths, which only stock lower wattage globes; non-dimmable

    Notes:
-Prices current as of June 2016. Apologies for any errors in pricing or specifications.
-"Sweet spots" for purchase cost, running cost or brightness are highlighted.
-Technological improvement over time will lead to lower prices, and more efficient and smaller/lighter globes that produce less heat.
-Lifetimes will be shorter when used in an enclosure.
-For lights that are left on for most of the night, try to buy the most efficient globes (lumens/watt>90 ).
-Some Cool/Daylight (~5000K) LED globes can be more efficient than Warm (~3000K) LED globes.
-Not all stores stock the entire range of LED globes of a particular brand, e.g. Woolworths: Philips<14W, Masters: Philips<18W.
-Capital cost (lumens/$): >100 is very good
-Running cost (lumens/watt): >90 is good

    • Great post avtech. It seems the pdf/excel
Links aren't working. Also would you mind posting the prices here too?

I recently bought Olsent LED 5W 2pack for $10 from woolies. Whats your thought of Olsent?

      Thanks.

    • Roughly what Wattage of these bulbs do I need for an equivalent brightness of a 100W incandescent bulb?

      • +1

Philips 18w LED bulbs are equivalent to 130w a incandescent, the 14w is equivalent to a 90w incandescent.

The brightest Mirabella LED on the Big W website is 9w and equivalent to a 60w incandescent.

        • Thanks for your info :)

    • Hi avtech, both your google drive linked docs are coming up as 404 not found

  • I bought ones of these for $10 (usually $20) at Big W today.
    http://www.ledbenchmark.com/display.php?id=327&name=Mirabell…

I'm happy with its warm glow, I might buy a 2nd one tomorrow.
