  • Vendor is incorrect in title says The Good Guys. Suppose to be Teds Camera Store.

    • OOps! I had TGG on my mind. I bought a 70-200 from them last week.

      • hehe you got me excited for a sec there as thought TGG joined the ebay sale!

  • Its a shame that teds did not drop the price like they did on their website.

    • +1

No it's not. There is no price drop on their website.

They are doing a 10% off sale direct through their website/stores on selected products marketed as a GST free sale.

EBay promotion is a partnership sale between Ted's and eBay and is 20% off which is off everything in their eBay store.

Granted businesses should minimise having conflicting sales running at the same time but they're not being dodgy.

  • This lens truly is outstanding. It replaced my 70-200 F2.8 IS because its just as sharp and only one stop slower. If you need the reach, just get it.

    • In terms of bokeh, the aperture diameters look about the same compared to the 70-200 f/2.8. WhatAperture comparison

The 100-200mm will have bigger bokeh because of the focal length, is more suited to well-lit (outdoors) scenes where you need more reach (and as you said) and/or want more subject isolation.

The 70-200mm will be more versatile in terms of low-light shooting and allow you to stand closer for portraits if you want a bit more of the background in the frame.

  • Isn't 2.8 to 4.5 more than one stop?

  • This is indeed a great lens, I have the 70-200 FS2.8 and used a 2x teleconverter as per Tony's Video but getting this if you can as this price is awesome for the lens - especially for wild-life of action sports. (5DMkIII and 7D - original)
