I can also highly recommend this mouse. Works great with bluetooth on my mac and usb receiver on my pc. One mouse on my desk for two computers. For anyone who purchases this, turn off SmartShift. It's annoying and useless. The customisation is really awesome. It's definitely worth the price!

    • -3

      It looks huge…

      • -4

bruh, that's not what she said to you, was it now?

        • Poor effort, too obvious.

      • It's not a small mouse by any stretch of imagination, but it's actually smaller than it looks in photos. I imagined a behemoth rodent when I ordered my first one, and when I unboxed it I was a little surprised that it wasn't as big as I thought it would be.

        • +1

Looks more like a frog than a mouse lol

        • @CandyMan: I thought at first it was a VR headset

    • +2

Bought it for the smartshift function. Useful when scrolling pages of codes.

    • turn off SmartShift. It's annoying and useless

I couldn't disagree more with this. SmartShift is great for navigating large documents/webpages.

      • Fair call. I just personally don't use it because I found it annoying. I will reply to my comment and change it.

    • I was given this recently, and it's the best Logitech I've used so far… and I've tried them all. Especially if you own a mac.

    • It's come to my attention some people actually like SmartShift lol. My apologies. I personally am not a fan of it as I don't need SmartShift for reading documents or going through code. Just said that in case someone purchased it and didn't like that feature.

  • I bought it in ow 3 month ago, it is good for me.

Sometimes it sucks to be left-handed :(

    • +1

      good time to be ambidextrous

    • I'm so sorry man, it's an awesome mouse for right-handed people though. It's pretty ridiculous given how common left-handed people are that there is not more choice.

    • -2

I'm sure it wouldn't take much to just learn to use a mouse right handed.

      • +5

Or we could just have left handed mouses and you could learn to use one left handed?

        • If most things were left handed then yes I would. Why would it not be possible to learn to use your other hand?

Sports and instruments require using both sides. You don't just type with one hand. It's just that we favour one side for doing things, not that it's not possible to use the other side.

  • Excellent price!

  • Heard there was a higher than usual failure on the scroll wheel on these…would've gotten one if I didn't hear about it, though good guys are probably decent with returns/replacements

    • +2

The scroll wheel does have a well-known issue but it's super easy to fix

    • I had the wheel stop scrolling on mine, but not the freespin/ratchet issue. See my comment below for how I fixed it

Can we price beat at officeworks?

    • Not with a coupon. It would be 5% off $99 at the current list price, or $94.05.

  • Great mouse I bought myself one of those months ago and its one of the best on the market!

Now all I know to find are the replacement telfon pads!

  • +1

I don't need this my G9X is fine. I don't need this my G9X is fine. I don't need this my G9X is fine. I don't need this my G9X is fine.

    • +1

I've been chanting this in my head all morning.

Was looking to reduce cable clutter with this mouse, but have 2 x G9X (1 sitting in cupboard brand new LOL).

      • Cable clutter is my main reason for wanting this, too. Trying to do a clean setup.

      • Cable clutter is the reason I got this lol

    • +1

I have a G9X as well (which I got as a replacement for my faulty G7 in the final month of warranty), and I personally like the MX Master more. The MX Master is taller so fills the grip more whereas the G9X is quite flat in comparison.

A few things I like more on the G9X though, are the forward/back buttons and the side tilt scroll wheel. I usually have the back button mapped to Ctrl-W (I didn't use the forward button) and side tilt as Ctrl-Tab/Ctrl-Shift-Tab for easy browsing. Since there are no indentations on the thumb wheel on the MX Master (which Logitech sees as the replacement for side tilt), I had to map Ctrl-Tab to the forward/back buttons instead, and moved Ctrl-W to the button under the thumb. Another down for me is that the forward/back buttons are stacked top-bottom, whereas most mice have them side by side.

But overall, those are minor quibbles in (what I believe is) a fairly unique set up. I still give it two thumbs up.

  • I'm not too sure about the quality of these. I bought 2 from Dick Smith (just before they closed) and on both the scroll wheel stopped working after a week or two. Since DS is no more I now have to try and go through Logitech Australia for warranty.

    • +1

I had the same thing but it's actually really easy to fix, once you get a Torx T5 at least. I just fixed mine today and it's working like new.

    • +1

I did the same (DSE purchase) and had the same issue. I found that if I pressed firmly on the scroll wheel, but not enough to activate the middle click, it would work. After doing this for a few hours, it seemed to right itself and has been working fine ever since. Maybe give that a crack.

      • I found that if I pressed firmly on the scroll wheel …

On mine there is no way to engage the ratchet. I play a bit more, maybe I can get it working.

        actually really easy to fix

I saw the vids/pics on fixing the problem, but that means warranty is void. If dealing with Logitech is too onerous I might have to do that.

  • Regret missing out on the MX Anywhere 2 last time. arrghhh!

    • +1

      MX Anywhere 2 for $76 (with coupon CLICK20) here —> http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261555458691

I'm a bit confused whether should i get MX Master or MX Anywhere 2 because
      1. MX Master looks pretty big and not portable as MX Anywhere 2.
      2. MX Master have better discounts and have extra wheels compared to MX Anywhere 2

      Thoughts?

      • +1

The MX Master is great as your home mouse with a desktop or equivalent. Its big and and comfortable to use and hold (I've got one). Plus it can pair with 3 devices and has a good DPI and button setup. MX Anywhere 2 is a smaller, portable mouse (hence name) that also allows 3 devices to be paired (My laptop, tablet and phone is what I will use it for). The only downside apparently of the Anywhere 2 is a lack of the middle button that I occasionally use to open websites in another tab. But yeah, the MX Master was designed more for desktops whilst Anywhere is a portable one you chuck into your laptop bag.

$76 is ok for the Anywhere 2. But Bing Lee did bring it down to $64 last time on their ebay sales. My MX Master was super cheap because Big W screwed up an order for another mouse (flat Logitech T630) previously and offered to sell the MX Master for $40 or something.

        • +1

I agree with bchliu. MX Master is designed for a workstation. I have both MX Master and MX Anywhere 2 and both are great mice.

There are improvements to the design on the MX Anywhere 1, namely rechargable internal battery with micro USB cable connecting to front of mouse for recharge so you can still use the mouse.

Added support for Bluetooth is great especially for MXA2 as sometimes notebooks are short on USB ports.

Re middle button, I use the button behind the wheel for middle click as I prefer to use wheel button to toggle scroll modes. Strangely, you need Logitech Options software to change this on the MX Master.

  • I say, wouldn't it be cheaper to send the old mouse here rather than buy a new one?

    • +3

I gifted it to my dad. I suppose from a purely fiscal standpoint from my side, yes it would be cheaper. But now, I know my dad has a good mouse to use as well.

  • +1

This is a seriously great mouse but a few points so you don't get a surprise:
    * This is a big mouse
    * It uses Smart Bluetooth 4.0 so will not connect with Bluetooth for older PC

    • I'm pretty sure that Bluetooth 4.0 is backwards compatible.

      • Not the Smart Bluetooth. Connects no problem to by Dell XPS 15 from 2014, but no luck for older XPS from 2011 (other Bluetooth devices can connect e.g. old mouse, phone). I need to use the adapter. This is not a problem but I was providing a heads up in case people were hoping for Bluetooth on older machine.

I also have the MX Anywhere 2 which uses the same technology with the same results.

    • perfect for people with big hands. absolutely love my mx master

      • Agreed, on both counts. I have larger hands but even so, found it big. After getting used to it, it's magic. :-)

  • Wow, good price. Was looking for this mouse 2 weeks ago when my MX Revolution battery died but there wasn't any good deals.
So bought a replacement battery for it and now working again. Should i get this anyway?

  • Have been using mine for about a year now - don't really use it for the customization but more so the comfort using it as a daily.

  • Got it delivered as the nearest store was half an hour away from me. That's easily $10 petrol.

  • I use M905 (Anywhere) and M705 (Marathon), love them both. I recently tried this MX Master, and it is huge, heavy, and clumsy for my hand. If you have small hand like me, don't get this one.

  • I personally find the sensitivity not as smooth as the Magic Mouse on Mac. Also has bad interference with 2.4ghz wifi. Jumps all over the place. not having gesture is also a inconvenience. Scroll and feel is nice.

  • Anyone knows how long is the warranty?

  • Hate mine. Average wireless performance (low polling rate), mouse gestures hard to use, awkward thumb button placement, smart shift is nice but mines starting to not register rotations. Nice shape and looks nice that's about all that i like about it.

  • +1

I've got this mouse, it's good, but as others have mentioned it's a little big. I find the "hump" a bit awkward as the day goes on.

The scroll wheel also bugs me, it has two modes but neither feel just right. I've also tried the Anywhere version of this mouse, but the middle mouse button on that can't be used to open new tabs which I find a pain.

    • You should be able to use the SetPoint software to configure the middle button on your Anywhere mouse to perform whatever action you want.

      • That was my first thought too, but there is no option to configure the middle button (just every other button). From what I've researched, it appears the middle click on the scroll wheel is purely a mechanical button to change between the standard scroll mode and the smooth scroll mode. Happy to be proven wrong! There is a button just before the scroll wheel that can be configured to be middle click, but it's not as intuitive.

Master has a configurable scroll wheel click, but the physical scrolling isn't to my liking. Anywhere 2 has nice scrolling, but no configurable scroll wheel click. Can't win :)

  • I love my Performance mouse but it is getting old. Been wanting one of these.

  • +1

This mouse is awesome, especially for those who want a larger mouse that they can wrap their entire hand around.

I much prefer this type of grip than the claw type grip you need to use on most smaller mice

In real world usage internal battery tends to last about 3 weeks (in my experience anyway), but for a desktop that's not really an issue, I just keep the cable plugged in to the PC, ready to connect to the mouse when its getting low

    • I do the same. Micro USB cable always at the ready, works great with rechargeable keyboard and mouse. I wouldn't go back to a mouse that you can't use while recharging.

  • A few weeks ago I bought mine for $84.55, OfficeWorks 5% price beat on MSY's $89 (now apparently $93), so this is a pretty good deal.

Can definitely recommend the mouse, however there's a common issue where the ratchet scrolling starts to fade and smart shift stops working consistently. Fortunately it's an easy fix with a Torx T5.

  • I'm finding it very difficult to game with this haha

  • Good mouse, but a bit big for my hands. I've gotten used to it, though.

  • +7

Keep upvoting, people. Makes me feel better about my purchase.

    • LOL you caved in to the deal!

What will you do with your G9X?

      • It will probably be put into retirement or I'll use it at work.

Unsure if I'll use the Master at work and at home.

        • +1

What I did was keep the G9X connected at home and a generic corded mouse at work, and bring the MX Master with me to/from work every day. If I accidentally leave it behind I still have a corded mouse to use.

        • @KayDat:

This is what I will do now.

  • Thanks got one for my dad

  • Excellent mouse, paid $95 when it first came out. $80 is a bargain.
