  • Hell yea, was kicking myself when I was late to apply for the $200 cashback in April.
With possibility to have 1st year annual fee waived

  • +3

So we can do this over the counter at the branch as well?

What if people had anz cc previously? Still eligible?

    • yes eisniwre, this time the offer is available for branches as well

    • +1

What if people had anz cc previously? Still eligible?

Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or for customers who have been approved for an ANZ credit card and received a cashback or similar payment from ANZ within the previous twelve months

From T&C at bottom, but be good if rc681 can clarify

      • +1

if you hold a anz first or anz platnium in the last 12 months, you are not elligible

        • If I had an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card in the last 12 months, would I be eligible?

        • yes cyssero, you would still be eligible if you had an ANZ frequent flyer or ANZ reward.

        • @rc681:

Can you guarantee this? The wording - quoted by Payton above - could easily be interpreted otherwise. If you had a ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum and received 50000 QFF points for example, it could easily be argued by ANZ that you were a customer who had been "approved for an ANZ credit card and received a cashback or similar payment from ANZ within the previous twelve months".

        • rc681, I've ANZ platinum card from last 5-6 yrs. Never been beneficiary of such offers nor have rewards attached to it. Am i not eligible for this offer?

    • +1

I was just about to post: I got burned on the last deal because I had held an ANZ card in the last year (closed an account that I'd had with them for 15 years or so last October). So they never paid my 75,000 QFF points bonus. I realise this was in the T&C - I'm just saying Be aware!

  • +1

Does it have $60 additional card fee?

    • you can get up to 3 additional cards without any additional cost

  • +1

can i close a current anz first account (with no prior history of claiming such promotions) to open another anz first account to take advantage of such promotions?

    • yamato,i was on the phone with credit card solution team. If you hold an anz first or anz platnium in the last 12 months, unfortunately you are not eligible for this offer.

  • I've just applied for an additional card on my parents' account - am I eligible?
    I believe it's a platinum card

    • yes you are eligible if you are not the primary holder in the last 12 months

      • I think he meants he is a supplementary card holder. For this offer I believe its for new card holders (primary)

  • +1

It seems the ANZ Platinum card has a $0 annual fee for the first year. If that's correct, would this card be a better alternative for someone that doesn't want to stay with ANZ?

Tripod, we are talking about the same card here but 2 different offers. you can get one with no annual fee (save$89) or pay $89 and get 200 back when you spend $500 in the first 3 months (profit $111)

      • Thanks for clarifying. I thought that might be the case after reading a little more into it. Still a good deal!

"Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions"

      • https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/low-annual-fee/… looks like you can get first year fee waived as well as 200 back when you spend 500

        1. The ANZ Platinum Annual Account Fee ("Annual Fee") will be waived in the first year. In each subsequent year, if you make Eligible Purchases of $20,000 or more annually using your ANZ Platinum account your next Annual Fee will be waived. Eligible Purchases must be made in the year prior to your next Fee Date. Your Fee Date is the date that your account is assessed for charging an Annual Fee. If your account has not previously been charged an Annual Fee then for the purpose of determining your eligibility for the waiver, your Fee Date is the first date that your account is assessed for charging an Annual Fee. Eligible Purchases includes purchases made using your account, but excludes Balance Transfers, cash advances, interest, fees, transactions reversed and purchase refunds. If you do not make at least $20,000 of Eligible Purchases in the year prior to your Fee Date the Annual Fee will be charged to your account. The Annual Fee is currently $87 but is subject to change.
      • rc681, on the page for the Platinum card (https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/low-annual-fee/…) condition #1 states the terms around the $200 cashback, condition #2 states the $89 fee is waived for the first year.

Are you saying both of these offers can't be used at the same time? Because that's not how I read the T&Cs. It appears there is no upfront fee, and assuming you can cancel the card for free, it means you can get the full $200 cashback with the Platinum card. Or am I reading this wrong?

        • Hi railspider, we can select only 1 offer when putting through an application. So i am sure that you cant use both offers at the same time

        • Fair enough, I thought it looked a little too good to be true.

          Thanks for sharing the deal.

        • @rc681:

Are you sure that both offers: $0 annual fee for first year and Bonus $200 cash back isn't together? your website shows this as one combo (screenshot):

          http://imgur.com/VWhgn25

      • Are you sure we are talking about the same card as one says Minimum credit limit $1,000 and the other says Minimum credit limit $6,000??

  • When will this offer be available until?

    • This is a limited time only offer which may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice

  • Signed up last time - when there was no fee ($200 profit), here is my experience:
    - easy online process
    - painful activation - had to visit a branch and spent close to hour and a half to get the job done
    - spent the $500 and got the $200 cashback in about 2 weeks

    not a bad deal…

    • thanks cheaty, i would also avoid busy hours when visiting a branch, during lunch break, opening 9:30am to 10:30am and closing 3:00pm to 4:00pm. Hope it helps

    • When was this? I got one from this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/244295 back in April & spent over $500 on purchases straight away but havent seen any cashback yet.

      • this just started today MiaSanMia, Did you apply online via that link or you applied at a branch, cause the offer last time was online. if you did apply online, give credit card solution team a call on 13 13 14 .

        • I applied via the link & had called the solution team & they confirmed I'm eligible for the deal. cheaty said he/she got the cashback in about 2 weeks while I've been waiting nearly 2 months (which is standard condition in the fine print) this is quite surprising

  • Hi OP, can I apply for this card and claim $200, then close the account? Will it make any affect on my credit history?

    • Hi Shemale, If you apply for several credit cards within a short period of time, or multiple inquiries will appear on your report.

      • I had my current CC from CWB since last 6~7yrs (received new one with updated expiry this yr) does this 6~7yr considered as short period for bad credit history?

        • I wouldnt say bad, but it will appears on your credit report. Best thing is to do a credit check at https://www.veda.com.au/. Most Banks use Veda for credit check. Hope this helps

  • ANZ Platinum has a good travel insurance by paying just $300 of the os trip with the card

    • That's right Maxi!

and ANZ First also come with Complimentary insurance for your shopping
Complimentary insurances when you make eligible purchases on your card:
90-day Purchase Security Insurance - insurance against loss, theft or accidental damage on most personal items purchased - for 3 months from the date of purchase.

Extended Warranty Insurance - double the manufacturer's expressed Australian warranty on major personal and household purchases by up to an additional 12 months

      • Do you need to continue to hold the card for that period of the extended warranty or does ANZ honor the warranty if the card is cancelled?

    • Yes, you are right nikunj. But only on the platnium card with $0 annual fee first year

  • OP - can you tell me if these cards (or any of ANZ's cards) attract foreign transaction fees? I can't see anything mentioned about foreign transaction fees on ANZ's website, but that was the main reason I closed my Westpac Black Cards. Thanks!

    • From fees and charges booklet

β€’ANZ will charge 3% of the value of any foreign or
Australian currency transaction charged to ANZ Visa, ANZ
MasterCard or ANZ Visa PAYCARD credit card where the
merchant or financial institution accepting the card is
      located outside of Australia.
β€’ For an overseas ATM transaction the Overseas Transaction
Fee is calculated on the value of the transaction and any
ATM operator fee that you accept when you proceed
with the transaction at the ATM.

      • Cool, thanks for that.

  • Tried to apply online, but got a silly error message saying that postcode, state and suburb are not valid. Did anyone face the same issue?

  • How come other ANZ cards like the platinum rewards card no longer waives the first year annual fee?

    • hi Uno, the condition of rewards range has changed, now you only need to spend first eligible purchase to for the points. Hence the annual fee waiver is no longer valid.

      • Thanks for info!

  • I applied when the last deal was around and still waiting to receive the bonus for more than a month. Has anyone received theirs yet?

  • Is linking the credit card to Paypal and use Paypal to buy stuff an eligible purchase?

  • Does BPay count towards the 500 spending? Got a couple of gas bills to pay.

  • How long does it take for the cashback to come in? I spent $500 by mid June and haven't heard anything since?

    • 60 days from $500 purchase
