It was $5xx when Sony was running its hot Summer deal.

Anyway, it is still a good price for a decent lens, I prefer local pick up though.

Bloody good lens, tiny, super sharp, versatile.

It is a great walk around lens, as its long enough for portraits and wide enough for landscape and fast enough for night time use.

Its a great do-it-all lens. Put it on a A7RII and you have a full frame, high res camera that can deal with almost all situations, it is the perfect lightweight travel camera that is fully capable of producing pro-level images.

    • Have no idea why you were negged. Reviews all say it really is an amazing lens, just the price is abit steep :/ I have a Sony 35mm f1.8 for APS-C so would this be a huge upgrade or not?

    • I use this lens on my A7II more than any other lens I own. Incredible performance, small size, versatile and reasonably priced (I got mine during the cashback for $519).

      • when did the cashback happen? i am still waiting for their next cashback campaign to buy an a7ii or a7rii to replace my bulky d800

        • September 2015, Was $300 cashback on the camera and $200 on lens.

        • @boredofficeworker: i missed that one. Hope sony will do it again.

        • @alwayseric: I've been waiting since then for it to crop up so I can buy a couple more native e-mount lenses myself, but I've been waiting a while :(. The 35mm has been fantastic though! I have borrowed several of the native lenses from a friend (the 55mm Zeiss, the 90mm Macro and the 16-35mm Ziess) and while there are certainly situations where I would rather be using those lenes, the 35mm/2.8 remains the best general purpose lens I've used on this camera.

  • This or the Sigma 30 f2.8??

    • definitely sigma if you're on APS-C. You could also consider Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS or Sigma 30mm f1.4, both of which are slightly pricier

  • Sigma for tight budget, remove the baffle and you almost got yourself a full frame lens with little vignetting. I have the signs lens and it is very sharp.

    • Theres still quite a bit of vignetting which varies if you shoot into the light or away. Otherwise beautiful lens.
