Imagine if everyone asked for their post to be removed when they got a couple of -ve votes… :O

      Imagine there's no heaven

It would be nice if you asked for your posts to be removed.

  • Its only for 1 month though, from June 10th to July 10th

I think free rides go back to $10 if you don't use it within that time

YESOPTUS, stgeorge25 or WESTPAC25 gets you $25 off 1st ride

  • Perhaps OZB members can shed some light on this.

I have yet to try the Uber service. But wanted to, especially transport from/to the airport.

My understanding is that there is no pre-booking for Uber. Question is: if I am say, 30km from the CBD, what are the chances that I will be able to get the Uber service when I need it. I am assuming it is during the day or evening (not early hours of the morning).

    Many thanks in advance.

There is no pre-booking. I've checked it in the suburbs of Perth before, and they were always within around 10mins distance, so you certainly won't be waiting long. 99% of the time, you'd probably be waiting longer for a taxi and you would an uber!

      • Thanks, good to know. Melbourne experiences, anyone? (would be even more reassuring) :-)

I'm pretty certain that you'll be able to get an Uber in under 10 minutes from the airport. Just checked now and an UBer is 5 minutes away. It's Uber black so estimates are $83-112. Which is a bit expensive for my tastes.

        • @LongJohn92: Thanks for your reply. I assumed you checked for pickup at airport to suburbs. Wonder if it is just as easy, for pickup from suburbs 30kms out of CBD, for airport. If so, it would be good.

I agree, it is expensive, but sometimes there are just not many options.

@bluesky: As an casual uber driver, I can tell you there're oversupply of drivers everywhere…You don't need to worry about not being able to catch an uber unless you're like middle of dessert or more than 50km from CBD. As a driver, I cbb competing with the newbies at hotspots anymore, I just stick to my "areas" now, which is usually airports or 20-30kms out of CBD, where I have regular FIFO clients

          @bluesky:

I live in Dandenong North which 29km away from the CBD (south-east), and there's always somebody nearby when checking in. A trip to the airport with UberX would cost $74-97, depending on the duration of the ride.

Check out this site and enter the locations you wish to travel to and from, then it will tell you how long you would have to wait for an uber driver, as well as the cost.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask :)

        • @baz96: Very helpful, thanks very much :-)

If you download the app, it lets you see cars that are nearby. I'd suggest doing a test run at a similar time/day to when you want to travel to get an idea of what availability will be like.

      • Thank you, I will do just that. Cheers!

YAWN… how desperate are these Uber people, huh?

Every few days the same thing - repeated over and over and over. I haven't read the site policies, but it's just becoming "regular price" rather than a deal.

It's like we go "OH NOs - the Uber Free Ride deal just expired and I missed out!"… then 10 minutes later, another deal appears for exactly the same thing but worded slightly differently or via Westpac or some such rubbish.

Without trying very hard with my search terms, I found ELEVEN deals for Uber in May. At least one every 3 days, and most of them were dupes. OMG I wonder if they have the muppets organised to ensure the average in maintained again in June?

Maybe we should start a "Uber Deals Of The Week" thread, and just shove all their spam advertising in there?

    • Or just click:

      • Hide

You can hide similar deals from appearing on the front page or new deals listing.

      Hide from store Uber

No more Uber deals! You can do this for any store or users.

But code YESOPTUS gets you $25 credit

    • +1

      I know :P

      • +1

        so does stgeorge25 or WESTPAC25

    • +2

But if your referral was to a related party, $20 to referrer + $20 referree > $25

      • Just means potentially your going to pay $5 more on your ride

        • Unless you already have uber, but your friend doesn't. You've pretty much got a return fare between you if you use them together.

  • So how are uber accounts linked. Is it power email address or mobile number ?

  • -1

    Thanks David?

  • Does anyone know if the credit could be used for just the first ride, or also subsequent rides if there are credits remaining?

  • When will the credit expires?

    • Yeah I've got the $20 from referring someone do I have to use it before the expiry date?
