Grabbed 2 of the Pure S3 aka The Poor Mans True Ozbargainer's Sonos

Might grab another 2 if still available when I wake up

  • Thanks op grabbed one of each. Hofully i can pick them up today. See how good they are

  • My first wireless speakers. Grabbed 2 S3. Hope they're decent. Thanks OP.

  • Damn no s3s anywhere near me

  • Looks like you can't use Spotify for wifi and you have to use their shitty app for playback.

  • I purchased one S3 with $5.95 delivery to 4152, but it will cost $29.95 if you purchase two units.People dont have store near you can try purchae one unit each time if you want to have two.

    • Did you use a coupon to get delivery for that price? $14.95 also to 4152 here.

      • No,I did not use coupon.I tried two post codes and 4152 is the cheaper one, I used Carina.

  • $15 delivery for me, not worth it

  • $14.95 delivery is a deal breaker

Online chat told me Domayne HN Auburn had 3 of the S3. I found one and asked the guy for another. When i showed him the online price he said there was no stock. Had a look on the shelf and found another one so bought both. The sales guy was seething.

    • I ordered couple of S3 from the same store last night at 2.30 am for pick up. Did you grab one from mine , lol….

      • same i ordered 2 from DM HN

        I think he took ours

Grabbed a couple of S3s. I'm not confident that they'll come through with it based on other comments here.

Let's hope that their stock levels are reflected accurately (not my experience with last year's Galaxy S4 deal though at Harvey Norman).

  • I remember bought Sony SRS-X2 one last year in JB HIFI for $49.

Yeah, I got one of these and honestly $50 seems like the right price.

      • Agree, I got the Sony SRS-X3 for about $70.

  • Does anyone know how i can get the Jongo to work with Apple tv? ATV wouldn't detect the speaker via BT. Thank you guys.

    • Are other devices picking up the speaker fine via Bluetooth?

      • Yes, my android phone can see it and play music via it without any issue. Any idea why apple tv does not detect?

        • After some research, it seems that only the Apple TV 4 supports Bluetooth audio, so that might be the issue.

        • @donnot: Thanks mate… looks like i can only use it as a wireless speaker for my phone now. Was hoping it will work on my apple tv 3. Will try it on my chromecast next.

Any idea how the wifi function works? Does it mean if my device connects to the speaker via wifi, i am unable to connect to the internet via my home wireless router? That means i can never use Netfilx and the speaker together via wifi right?

        • @maogua:

Not too sure how Wi-Fi works, but the Amazon reviews seem to indicate that you can only play local content from a device.

        • @donnot: Cheers donnot, you've been very helpful. It seems the only way to play sound from Netflix via apple tv 3 is the AUX in now, which is quite silly for a wireless speaker. Thanks again for all your answers.

To those that managed to get the Jongo S3, make sure you update the speaker(s) to the latest firmware (2.4). Mine was v1.5 out of the box and v2.2 onwards has the improved audio algorithm giving greater clarity and bass. The latest firmware also includes all the fixes along the way for wifi, bluetooth, setup etc. I was lucky and got the last two at my local HN , bit annoyed as was told on phone both brand new but one was clearly a demo unit as had scuff marks, half the serial number sticker torn off, bluetooth adapter missing and ac adapter was assembled (as it comes with the australian AC pins separate). Only the bluetooth adapter missing bothered me but as the other brand new unit had the adapter I'm fine to stream bluetooth as only one adapter required for multi-unit streaming. So for $29 each they are freakin awesome!! Thanks so much OP!!! They fill the room with great sound!!

    • Thanks for the feedback :)

  • Did anyone get their orders delivered for the S3's?

    • Nope. I ordered an amp on the same day (saturday), and it arrived two days ago. My online order for this still says 'new' for the status. I'm not optimistic at all. I'd love to be proven wrong though :)

    • My order is shipped…

    • Just got email confirmation to say that my order has shipped!

Have had my 2 S3's for 10 days (picked up in store). For $29 each they are fantastic. But the pure connect android app is just as the online reviews say, sub-par. Via the app speakers commonly lose connection, or wont connect, or one channel (in stereo pairing mode) drops outs. With perseverance the app gets there but a pity the app isn't more polished. Here's a tip..find your speakers IP address (ie I looked at "attached devices" on my ADSL wifi modem/router admin page), via your browser go there and you can make changes there. Via the web page turn on "bluetooth caskeid" if you have two or more on each one. This enables the bluetooth streaming auto syncing, and for some reason even though you can do this via the app, and it shows as enabled when you go to the actual speaker webpage its not enabled. Once I had done this they started behaving a lot better. Another tip..if they get frozen during a reboot or whatever..there is a small reset pinhole at back, this didnt work for me. So simply solution is with philips screwdriver undo the screw on bottom, open battery door, remove battery for a few seconds and then replace, tighten door and done!

        • Thanks for the lengthy tips! I'd already saved your previous comments about firmware to look at when I take delivery. I'll make a note of these issues too.

I'm probably just going to connect mine to a Chromecast audio anyway using line-in, so I hopefully will avoid the bluetooth dramas.

    • Just had the email to say the S3s are not available(after 1.5weeks from placing the order I might add). I was hopeful but there will be another bargain soon enough, I'm sure of that. It was an impulse buy - OZBargain does that! But I kind of like it….Congrats to those who were able to collect and to those lucky enough to have it delivered.

I received my two S3s today. Like another poster, it looks like the boxes had both been opened. I think they've scrounged around to satisfy as many orders as they could with whatever stock they had laying around on shelves.

Hopefully another decent sale pops again with replenished stock. I'd definitely order another couple of units at this price!

  • I was one of the first people placed an order for the Pure speakers after the deal was posted (2nd person posted a response).
Somehow, replaced the second Pure Jongo S3 with a Cygnett Maestro speaker. Just did a quick search on this Cygnett, it was realised in 2009…
    Extremely disappointed.
