[Possible Scam] Weber BBQs 30% off (Free Delivery) at Bbqdeals.com.au

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Weber bbqs are at 30% off. This is the best deal I found after quite a lot of looking around for Webers.

Ex: Original Weber kettle $210 (RRP 329)

I bought a Weber Original Premium kettle for $288.90 (RRP $449) after price matching at Masters.
Reciept

Don't forget to use 5.5% off wish gift cards if you go down the masters price match path.

Long live the queen!

Based on the comments, I have requested for the deal to be taken down

UPDATE 24/06/2016 - The website has been down for more than two days. It is safe to assume that this was a scam.

$629 for the Weber Smokey Mountain 22.5", which is only $80 more than the Amazon price once converted without shipping. So damn tempting.

  • +2

Very cheap - but 1300 number rings out and payment is by Direct Debit or Bpay only.

  • Has anyone bought from this site before?

    • +3

Good point. No street number provided.

      http://abncheck.com.au/abn/13908916182

Wasn't there a bloke selling cheap webers on ebay but only delivering on some of them a while back? Given Weber's discount policy this sounds dodgy.

Someone please NEG this deal as a warning sign. I would but I upvoted and revoked.Pity OzB doesn't have a flag for such things.

    Grabbed a baby q - great deal - thanks!

      Heads up. See comments

      • Yeah sounds a bit dodgy - I got a a reply from 'Dave'

        Hello Dale,

We know about the phone.. we had issues with our paid calling center, working on it. We will send LPG model.

        Will keep you updated.

        Thank you,
        Dave

        • how does one get hold of Dave?

    Price matched with appliances online.

The website is pretty new, cant find any references to it before online, except this comment by a new poster in this thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/250568#comment-3768290

No paypal/credit card, only BPAY and direct bank payment.

Phone number wont accept calls, goes to a US answering machine that says theres no credit on the account.

    Be very careful.

  • +4

Whois says the domain belongs to RADKE Holdings who are not currently registered for GST. Legally you need to register for GST if your business turns over more than $75k; if they really are selling $2500 BBQs as they claim, they they'd easily do over that.

    I'd stay away.

    • +4

Their contact email in their WhoIs entry goes to a parked (vacant) domain; the tech contact they give is a woman with an unusual name who doesn't appear to have anything to do with the site. None of the business names they give in their ABR entry match their website. Oh, and the ABN on their website doesn't match the one they used to buy the domain.

There's no part of this business that doesn't look like a scam - stay away.

  • +1

Lucky you. I can't even find the Weber Original Premium kettle on Masters website in NSW to price match.

    • +1

I couldn't find one on the website either. I called the Adelaide store and they had a few.

This deal sounds dodgy as hell. I'm not blaming OP in the slightest, but I am very thankful of those who've taken the time to research and comment above. Thanks guys.

I'm in the market for a new Weber and some of these prices are very tempting. But there is far too much risk on this one. Cheers for the heads up.

    • Also not blaming the OP. dadi's comment made me take a second look so thanks to him/her.

  • Lucky for the ones managed to price match and not deal with this doggy seller!

  • Got onto ANZ as I paid with CC - should get that refunded hopefully!
Price matched with Appliances online in the meantime
    Careless Ozbargaining - silly me!
    Cheers all

    • Did u price match the kettle or something else? I don't think appliance online sells kettle type! Sigh…

      • Nah it was the Q2000

  • +1

Thanks OP. I managed to price match at Masters as well.

    • What did you get?

      • +1

The Weber Original Premium kettle. :)

  • abn says BONZA BBQ DEALS at The Rocks NSW, the website says Annand St, Toowoomba QLD 4350.
    seems suss to me.

  • +1

Wow I have been scammed, didn't read comments paid via netbank for the extra %5 off
Quick search of the website it was made today from what I can see :(
Just saw Bbq Deals - United States on my invoice and my invoice is #50 so that's not freakin good

    • See the comment below. Looks like they are happy to cancel the orders

  • +4

Why is this deal still up if the OP has asked for it to be removed?

    • would have saved me some money :/ it was on the front page in yellow/highlighted deal as a top deal

Just got another reply from 'Dave' after I questioned the business model \setup\ABN \GST issues.

    Hello,

We do ship from QLD. What seams to be the problem? A company can't have
    different working locations?
First of all we don't have a valid payment from you, confirmed, but, if
you made the payment I can cancel the order right away and refund the
    payment.

I'm waiting an answer in the next 24 hours before we can ship, otherwise
I'll cancel the order and refund the payment

    Thank you,
    Dave

    • I've emailed Weber asking if they are legitimate clients/resellers. Waiting for a response.

      • i sent a facebook post to weber and got this response

Hi Brett, thank you for your question. We can confirm that bbqdeals.com.au is NOT a legitimate authorised seller of our products. You can find our specialist dealers by searching on our website here: https://www.weberbbq.com.au/

        • +2

Just got a similar email response
Hi, thanks for checking with us as this is certainly a scam.
Our authorised Retailers are listed at www.weberbbq.com.au

          Kind regards,
          Christine Baker
          Customer Service

PS I've reported to ACCC, hopefully they'll sort it out (lol).

    • have you managed to get any further with getting a refund - I have also got scammed

      • I checked the website today and it has been taken down.

        • I think I've done my money but I have been in touch with consumer protection (formal complaint lodged) and I've also asked for an investigation into their bank account for fraudulent activity. Their BSB no. if anyone is interested is 768 374

        • @Jo T: I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that you can get your money back.

I'm lucky that I got a price match. If not, I would have definitely payed them and waited for the BBQ to arrive.

  • Got BCF to price match their price on the Weber q 2000.
$280, BCF had it priced at 430

    • How and where.

  • Trev, did you buy from Adelaide Masters? I went there tonight and the Manager said no price matching online stores, must be bricks and mortar like Bunnings who also have a website. Their price match policy says nothing about his, in fact appears to be quite freely open to matching aussie online sellers. I know this website is a scam but I didn't even get past the Manager to try and match.

    • You would have got someone who was a bit grumpy. Yes, I bought from Adelaide Masters. My receipt is in the original post.

Based on the masters best price guarantee, they do match online only stores. You need to add the delivery cost too if matching online prices. It was free delivery in this case.

I took a few prints of the website and showed it to them to get the price matched.

      • Had to go a roundabout way, phoned up and made a phone order. I also asked about the price match policy, and physical stores can at their discretion, deny if it's not a match with another physical store like Bunnings.

Dumb thing is that I placed the phone order for Click and Collect. So I got the same result but had to waste 30 minutes on the phone. Don't understand why they don't make a consistent policy.

  • Trying to find a store to pricematch the Q3200 Black deal ($538) but nobody stocks them.

    • Only weber authorised dealers stock them. This bbqdeals.com.au site a scam, not sure how they are selling q2200 & q3200. Strange

  • Did anyone hear back from Dave? I got scammed too.

  • Silly me, usually very careful but ordered a Webber from www.barbequesales.com.au as sounded like a great deal and of course no delivery. I have done a search and found the following because several emails have not been answered nor could the phone be connected.
Bonza BBQ Deals and Barbeque sales are run by Bradley Peter McGuire and his given address is 3A Lenton Place North Rocks NSW 2151 ( I did google earth ). His ABN is 13908916182 and the back is UBank ( NAB )and the BPay code is 768-374.
I contacted the bank and reported Mr McGuire to them as scamming money from people and not delivering goods (which he obviously does not have )and asked for the transaction to be reversed, I also contacted my bank and made application for the payment to be reversed, this may take up to six weeks. UBank number is 133080 to report this person as falsely receiving funds and depositing into a UBank account.
I have made a report to the police, I have reported this to the CTTT and Scamwatch.
I hope this helps others like me and you can follow through and we can catch this !#*%#!

    • Sorry to hear that, I've gone ahead and banned that website on OzBargain as well to ensure we don't have any deal posted for that domain.

    • Thank you for the update. Apologies for the inconvenience as I am the OP.

The domain was taken down a while ago and I frequently check to see if it has appeared again.

  • Looks like they may have re-emerged under a new Web site - www.barbequesales.com.au

Like a fool I ordered on Saturday a Weber Q3200 at a price of $538. They are accepting credit card only and then ask for a photograph of the credit card to be attached to the order via a link. Needless to say I didn't do this but did give my credit card details. I have tried numerous times since to contact them but no response via their contact form or e-mail address and the toll free phone number doesn't work. Sound familiar?

I checked the ABN number on this web site only to find it registered to Bonza BBQ Deals under the name of Bradley Peter McQuire of North Rocks NSW.

So far the amount hasn't been taken out of my Visa account so next step now is to get on to my bank.

    • This is the same website based on look and feel as well as content. Hey mate, call your bank and cancel your order and your card immediately.

  • I have Made a police report, contacted the ATO, contacted Ubank where he accepts the money under the BPay account number and having the money refunded, have also told UBank he is committing fraud and they have a customer using an account to obtain money under false pretences. I have contacted my bank and they are also communicating with Ubank to have to money refunded.
Hopefully no one else is caught but I am sure he will start it again under a different name.

  • +1

Cancelled my Visa card last night. The transaction hadn't gone through at that stage so didn't do my dough, just means I don't have a credit card for a week. That'll teach me, I'm glad I found this web site and this thread.

    • Good to know. Don't forget to checkout the bargains here 😀

SO I AM TAKING EVERY STEP I CAN TO STOP BRADLEY PETER MCGUIRE FROM EVER SCAMMING OTHERS ON ANY OF HIS WEBSITES.

  • Great news, have had my payment reversed so have my money back, suck it up Mr BPM or whoever you are or are going to be.
Please make sure you don't fall for this scam.

  • siger
Can you advise the process you went through - who you contacted
I got caught on the same deal - Black weber Q for $538.

  • +1

    Hi Oogie
    1. Contact your bank or credit union where the money was transferred from and let them know you have been scammed and ask for a reversal of funds, also tell them others have been caught.
    2. Contact Ubank on 133080 and speak to "Jessica" ( this is who I spoke to )and tell her you have been scammed by Bradley Peter McGuire who has his account at UBank- Biller code 768-374 and that he has committed fraud, she will know about it.
    3. The date the payment was made and from which bank etc you paid it from.
    4. Your receipt number and also give them his ABN 13 908 916 182.
    5. His given business address for the ABN is 3A Lenton Place North Rocks 2151.
    6. Contact www.acorn.gov.au and fill out a fraud complaint online with the police (easy)
    7. Go to www.fairtrading in your state and fill out a complaint.
    8. I also filled out a complaint with the ACCC.

The most important thing to do is number 6 after you have contacted UBank and your bank.

I have looked and it appears the site has been taken down so don't wait to long as he will probably start it under another name, best of luck.
He was also trading as Bonza BBQ Deals at some stage, just keep an eye on the ABN.

  • I am also wondering if this is about him too….sounds very familiar of what he would do?

In reference to: BM & DG Enterprises Pty lTD & Bradley McGuire & David Gray …
    http://www.forumlaw.com.au/articles/2013/june/taxation-law-n…

    • That is interesting. So is the conclusion to that case that they were not liable for the business operating debts but were liable for the outstanding business tax debts?

  • Merged from Has anybody purchased from bbqmaster.com.au before?

I'm on the hunt for a bbq and came across this site which is listing the Weber Family Q3200 for an almost too-good-to-be-true price of $538 delivered. Here is the direct link: https://www.bbqmaster.com.au/weber/29-weber-family-q-black-q…

All other stores I've come across have this unit listed for at least $750+ so I'm a little skeptical. Here's why:

    1. They don't offer PayPal as a payment option. Only direct deposit or credit card.
    2. I tried to call their 1300 number which simply did not work
    3. Can't find any additional information or a physical location for their offices/stores

I've submitted an order but have not made any payment. Sent in an email enquiry and now awaiting a reply.
Praying this is for real but ain't holding my breath.

Has anybody had experience with this site before?

    • They're also selling the Q2200 which is exclusive to Weber Specialist dealers at a heavily discounted price… They're never discounted, nor are there any online-only Weber Specialists (to my knowledge anyway) so it seems pretty fishy to me.

Maybe give Weber a call and get them to confirm that they are at least Weber Specialists?

    • Can't believe this guy is still in business for this.

    • Same site as barbequesales.com.au and is a real scam, I have reported Peter Bradley to the police, cttt, scam watch and had my transaction reversed by contacting my bank and his bank ( which he has probably changed )
You need to act ASAP to have your money refunded and please report him to the CTTT in your state.
I have his details on a comment on this site so let's get rid of this scammer, he is a menice and is ripping people off.

  • I think I nearly got scammed by the bbqmaster site today. Baby Q for $210, to good to be true!!!!! Tried the 1300 number, not legit, sent emails, no reply. All after I attempted to pay by direct debit, but luckily for me, I hope, the transfer didn't go thro coz the account number was wrong as well. Fingers crossed and checking banking constantly. After researching found even the postcode for the Vic address of the "business" was wrong. Posted the details on the facebook page Weber BBQ Addicts for other to be aware, but now for some reason I can't access the page anymore, think I've been blocked or scammed in the Facebook group, which I love. So frustrating!!!!!!

    • The site and content including deals and quantity is identical to the original site in the thread. 100% sure it is a scam.

  • Two weeks ago I got stitched up too by made a purchase and paid thru appliancespecialists.com.au

Pay to: M.Fischer Service pty ltd
Payment information: BSB: 062-200 (Commonwealth Bank Mascot)
    Account: 104-34-229

I contacted my bank and advised them I was scammed for so they will try to get the funds back for me.
I reported ACORN. Lodged 'Dob in a scam' for Victoria

There is a new site that has super cheap weber prices: https://www.bbqing.com.au/ and is not a real site. Not sure if it is the same guy running it but is a scam nonetheless so don't give him/her any of your money.

    • I compared it with my screenshots from the original post. It is slightly different. However the prices are too good to be true.

“Although we had a few problems with the order the support guys kept my order until bank cleared the payment and I finally got a very decent priced grill. Many thanks Bob”
    Andrew

    • They are showing people that they need to wait a few days for direct debit funds to be cleared.

  • Hi,
I have also been scammed by BBQing.com.au a few weeks ago. contacted the CBA to try and recover (so far 2 of 3 requests have been ignored by the fraudster). I have been told by the CBA that the money is unlikely to be returned and there is nothing they can do. Its not suprising that there are so many fraudsters when your bank does so little to get the money back. any one got any suggestions.

I contacted the police, ACORN, BLAZ consulting bank etc.
