USB to Lightning Keychain Cable $4 Delivered @ Dick Smith/Kogan

120

Update: all colours available!'

'Hey man, we all hate kogan'. OK, let's move on.

This keyring USB to lightning charger actually looks pretty handy for $4 shipped. I can only find it in pink so I got one for my wife (I hear pink is for punks too, though I'm a mohawk and some deodorant away from being able to find out)

Price should be $4 delivered for the next 24 hours while this free shipping malarky is happening.

  • Meh, may as well order from AliExpress. Kogan stuff will come from HK anyway

Once you factor in US -> AU prices and shipping time I think you're better off dealing with a company you can hopefully trust more than a random seller

  • is it MFi ?

      NFi

      • Compatible with iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6 Plus, iPad mini, iPad 4 and iPod Touch 5

        • "Compatible with" translates to "DEFINITELY NOT MFi"

Which means it probably works until the latest or next iOS update.

  • Other colours available on the Kogan website with free shipping :)

This looks like a really cute way to damage your USB ports. Hanging things at weird angles from cables that are far too short don't do USB ports much good. Maybe OK as an emergency carry-always device, but I wouldn't use this all the time. My wife's broken the USB ports on three mobile phones and tablets over the years by plugging them into stupid things like this instead of a proper cable.

$4 piece of junk novelty charger < $400+ mobile phone.

    • My wife's broken the USB ports on three mobile phones…

Errrr - that's nice, but this is APPLE LIGHTNING

Unlike the delicately fragile MicroUSB which breaks if a ant walks on the plug or connected cable, the Lighting connector is engineered much better. They still fail, but it tends to be the plug on the cable rather than the phone socket.

I've been using this one for the last few years: http://www.hellonomad.com/products/key#buy
It's MFI certified and granted it's 5 x times more expensive but with a $900+ Phone, I wouldn't risk it.

    • with a $900+ Phone, I wouldn't risk it.

      Wouldn't risk what, precisely?

I opened your link to try and find out, and decided that I wouldn't risk it either.

The guy has a significant risk of leaving his phone and keys behind.

    • Same here. Happy with Nomad
