Looks like PC Byte have joined in the R7000 price war, matching wireless1, and instead bundling a sandisk ultra fit 64GB USB. Considering that the ultra fit is currently selling for $21.56, I think it's pretty good value :)

  • I've been resisting getting this modem through all these ebay deals. Why tempt me now!

This isn't a modem, you will require an additional modem if you want to connect this to the internet.

      • Unless you have the nbn, then your good to go… As the nbn comes with a fiber modem.

  • Goddamit, I hit the order button for RT-AC68U but I haven't paid yet, looks like there's more value to be had possibly :|

Wonder if they'd be OK with me cancelling it? (Futu online)

  • It would be another good deal if they offer the same bonus on Asus AC-RT68U.

  • After around 12 months of delays, I will finally be on nbn Fixed wireless by the end of the month. Sick of all the problems with my Telstra supplied adsl modem and poor performing adsl. Can't wait to finally ditch adsl and Telstra for good.

This deal is perfect timing for me and finally enough to push me to buy it. Thanks

      ADSL is a joke :|

Unfortunately because Turnbull is owned by Telstra via donashuns we have the ridiculous situation where ADSL is being sold as NBN now. Just one more bit of evidence that he's a crook that specialises in moving public money into private hands and ripping off millions of Australians with terrible internet service in order to give Telstra as much money as possible.

      • ADSL is being sold as NBN now.

I'm no fan of FTTN, but I think you're stretching. There's a huge difference in performance due to wire length.

      • Yes it is ridiculous, we are essentially seeing the government buy back it's own dilapidated copper network. Supposedly to accelerate the build and reduce costs but yet we have already seen the costs blow-out to $56 billion. The switch to FTTN has been an absolute disaster both economically and technologically estimates have shown that by the time the build is finished the entire network would be worth no more than $27 billion resulting in a negative net present value and meaning it could privatized for only half the initial build cost.

On the other hand as a result of the switch and as a consequence of adding both HFC and FTTN to the mix we have seen significant delays. FTTP roll-outs had to be halted where they had just began for re-design for FTTN some areas that were slated for FTTP were added to the Fixed wireless build list leading to delays with redesigns and expansions of the FW network, while the HFC network continues to lag well behind expectations with only 10,000 residents being connected by the end of June.

Behind schedule and over budget all Turnbull and his government have done is increase the complexity and the costs of both building and maintaining the network by buying back infrastructure there own party had previously sold, only in Australia hey mate !

        • we are essentially seeing the government buy back it's own dilapidated copper network.

Don't forget that immediately after they bought the copper infrastructure from Telstra they awarded the costly contract to maintain the dilapidated junk to … Telstra. NBN's public statement about it maintained that they had no idea what the hell they were doing with copper and that was the reason the contract was awarded to Telstra.

Think about that for 10 seconds and tell me Malcom Turnbull isn't a crook acting for Telstra against the interests of the Australian population. His entire time as Telco and Prime Minister has been spent pulling off stunts like this that always without fail shift taxpayer money into the hands of Telstra owners.

  • Anyone use this on FTTN NBN connection? Thinking of grabbing one for faster speeds for my gaming consoles and computer users in the house.

    • Whoops, sorry, meant to say FTTP. This or the ASUS RT-AC68U better?

      • I use this router for 100/40 FTTP. Works great.

  • It has been mentioned on nearly everyone of these posts, but if you have FTTN you essentially need a modem router.

There is a version of this same router with an integrated modem but it's a fair bit more expensive than this one

    See here

Alternatively you could use this router just for WIFI but you would need a separate VDSL compatible modem.

  • I'm planning to replace my aging Billion 7404 wireless VOIP router (on iiNet's naked DSL service.) Please can anyone confirm that this has VOIP capability - is anyone using it with iiNet naked DSL?
    TIA
