Bought this in the last bargain post.

Pretty good chair… if you can put up with the vomit inducing stench of the seat material. :(
I've had to cover the seat in plastic and tape it around the sides. You still get a bit of a smell occasionally, but it's not too bad now.

      Lol

    • +4

      Sounds like a great chair!

    • +4

Okay, I've bought 5 of these chairs now for work and never had a bad smell. I think you got a dud mate. To others: don't be put off - it's actually a great chair.

      • i dont like this kind of lame marketing, 1 dollar yeaahh only 209 delivery fee, just price is 200 plus 10 delivery, so can I pick it up instead of delivery? nah our warehouse does not deal with customers face to face and we only have a delivery option.. yeh right

    • I too bought this chair in 2012 and it never had bad smell. It is a very good chair and easily worth the money even at the higher price. Also one of the most liked chairs on Whirlpool. Sometimes I have used it 12+hrs/day-7days/week.

    • +2

Confirmed I also have never had that problem. they must of given you the demo

      • -2

        must "HAVE", dude.

What does "of given" even mean? Think before you type…

  • +2

I know this chair gets a lot of praise here but my experience has been underwhelming. The gas lift is too week and it will go down by itself over time. I am well below the weight limit.

    • +7

That's what the warranty is for. The gas lift on mine started to go so I called them up. The next day a guy showed up at my house and installed a replacement gas lift and it's been fine since. (that was about 3 years ago.)

    • +2

Agree. I ordered one due to the hype but returned it within days. It's like it's made for bigger people. Yes, plenty of padding but big and wide. The back plastic part where it joins was wobbling too.. just seemed really poorly made in that area. I had to post this because it's not the holy grail like some are reporting. If you are interested in this chair sit on it first before deciding. One day I will buy a Herman Miller when/if our dollar gets better.

      • I agree with you completely. I am not that big (70kg, 5.7) and I actually find it reasonably uncomfortable. Its quite creaky as well, but that's to be expected after a year or two.

I am hoping to try one of the higher end chairs as I'm over buying new chairs every few years.

  • +6

Yeah I don't get the hype. I sat in it recently at Officeworks and thought this is just a normal chair, what's the go?

    • +2

For me it's not that the chair is so amazing. It's that it's not utter rubbish like most of the other chairs available.

I'm tall and a lot of the cheap chairs are designed for short people and are just super uncomfortable for me. So I was buying $100 ish chairs and replacing them in a year after they broke. When you're doing that a 10 year warranty on a $200-$300 chair starts to sound pretty good.

I've had the one I'm sitting in now since 2011.

      • How tall are you exactly if you don't mind us asking

    • +2

I didn't get the hype either when I bought it in 2012. When you sit on it, it just seems like a normal chair…but what else would you expect? It's not like you'd expect a reach-around.

The real benefit of the Buro Metro only becomes apparent when you start sitting on it for long hours. I believe mine came with a 10-year warranty and considering how well it's lasted the last 4 years with very heavy usage, I expect it will last the whole ten years.

I do use the chair arms to rest my elbows and keep my posture aligned. Personally, I would not buy the chair without the arms.

  • Is the seat the same padding as the original with arms?

  • I've purchased 3 of these and two of them get a super workout every day.

I am a big guy, just under the weight limitation, and they have survived so far.

The usual issue I face with chairs is the base breaking. These are rock solid, comfortable and high quality.

Only complain I have is one of the chairs (the oldest one that Ive had for about 1.5 years) now squeaks a little when you lean back on the backrest. Im sure it's just a tightening issue but it hasn't bothered me enough for me to have a look.

would recommend, especially at this price.

  • How long does it take them to deliver this?

I'm not home during work hours most days so it tends to be a hassle to get stuff like that delivered. But exceptionally this week I have the Friday off so this could just be great timming for me!

    • Bought on a Friday, delivered Mon or Tues (can't remember which).
      Pretty damn quick. :)

  • +1

Good chair overall. If they use PU leather or leather for the seat would be much better to avoid stink

Has anyone had experience with the Buro Verve?

Mesh backs are no good for me, I need solid support in the lumbar area.

  • Sign up to newsletter for $10 offcode

    • +3

'TEN65OFF' cannot be added to your order, only one discount coupon can be added.

  • I have a very bad back and left side as rib cage sticks out a bit and tends to hurt if i dont get supoprt will this help if i lean back or is it not that good?

  • Can anyone comment on how this chair compares to the Markus chair from Ikea? At $199 with a 10 Year warranty it seems decent.

  • Where do we add the coupon code? Cant see it anywhere.

    • You need to register an account :)

      • Yeah just found it, thanks.

Cant stack coupon codes either meaning you cant utilise the TEN65OFF as it applies to the first order only.

$259 for the chair I want. Ill need to think about it some more :\

  • I bought this from Staples about 2 months back and there was no version without arms. I never needed arms so had to pay extra ($70!) for them but they are sitting on the floor in their wrapping untouched. Disappointed. I made the purchase at the wrong time - by about 2 weeks when suddenly they had an arm-less version.

    • +3

Sell the arms to someone who buys this deal!

      • Who is interested in buying two arms for this chair, brand new.
Would have to work out best postage somehow as they are quite heavy.

    • are the arms not good?
was thinking buying the chair with arms….but not sure if its actually comfier with or without it

  • Clag Glue Brush To Suit 300ml Clag Paste

Wow, amazed that this is really a thing that exists. Let alone worth $1.

    • lol maybe they are targetting schools? Probably a ton of brushes get eaten, painted over etc. But yeah $1 is a bit steep

  • I have this chair, bit big for me as i'm a shorter person but is comfortable and offers decent ergonomics, but if you're on the shorter side the seat it self can be bit to roomy?, and high off the ground.

  • I bought one of these for work a few months and have had no issues with weird smells or the gas lift. I think it is a great chair, very comfortable and my lower back issues are pretty much non existant now.

I am going to buy another one for my home office, thanks OP.

  • +1

Ended up purchasing the one with arms for $259 delivered.
Dodgy chairs at work, so this will be a good tax-deductible replacement.

    • I am also thinking to get one with arms. I am interested i n a slim profile one for home use. Will this be fine?

      • What do you mean by slim profile?

        • Slim or not that huge back or arms or takes less space?

        • +1

          @Gaggy:

Received the chair today. I wouldn't call it "slim" to be honest. I can see why people might say it's a chair for larger-bodied people.

        • @dannyboi: Thanks. I will check it at officeworks and then buy. is it saving of $40 on this chair?

  • Anyone have tried this vs the dcracer chairs ?

  • I'm sitting on mine. What makes this chair great is that it was one of the fewest chairs on offer at Officeworks that can support up to 150kg. I weight around 125kg. Mine has the armrests ;)

  • What do you guys think of this mesh office chair on ebay, going for around $80 after using the CLICKMORE code?
It doesn't look quite as sturdy as the Buro Metro, but it does claim to take a 150kg load.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Executive-High-Back-Mesh-Comp…

    • The base/cushion on the Buro is very thick. That one you listed looks quite thin, which i would think you would start to feel after awhile.

  • Has this store been removed from CashRewards?

    • +1

Staples is back now but at 4% instead of 6%

  • My chair arrived today, seems quite comfy, base mechanism is a lot sturdier than $100+ chairs I've bought from office-works in the past.
