Remember this popular deal from two weeks ago? Well the price just dropped $5 USD, and when you combine it with the ever-so-slight appreciation of the AUD, it works out to be around 10% cheaper. A quality groomer (make sure to check out all the comments in the last post) for a great price.

does it do a good job at making your stainless steel look better?

    • What power adapter are you using?

      • Just a $2 plug adaptor

        • Cheers

got it for around 90 aud from last deal, got delivered few days back. quality product.

  • Ohhh man, will the 970 Oc play mid-end games like Overwatch at more than 100hz?

I just dropped some big bucks on a Korean 144hz 1080p LCD

    • Depends on your settings, but the 970 is a great card, especially for this price!

    • I run overwatch on EPIC with 100-120 fps @ 1440p. I have an overclocked gigabyte g1 970

    Reviewing the shaver.

Nice quick charge, quality feels great, engineering of the stainless steel is great, nose trimmer is great, low shave attachment is subpar but if you're buying this you will never use it.
So many different length attachments you could have the most custom facial hair in Australia! (Despite Hugh Jackman)
Only cheapness I see is that the base is chromed plastic…
No idea why it's designed like that but if you dropped it, that'd be the first thing to shatter.

    9.8 out of 10
And the cheaper price since I bought it recently OP, i'll Iove to hate you.

    • No issues with the power button?

      • +1

        No issues with power button.
I did read reviews but if the button is broken for them then they thumbed the shit out of it.

    • Hey man, nice review, Just wanted to ask, you said the 'low shave attachment was subpar" Which attachment do you mean?

I want to maintain a stubble kind of look really and just use this around the neck instead of having to shave.

Will this be able to maintain a stubble look well? or is this even the right shaver for that?

Sorry im a bit of a noob.

      • Its like a foil shaver attachment (for as close as a razor shave as it gives)

For a stubble or even a neat beard, this is your shaver!

Don't be sorry, it's what Ozbargain forums are for

    • how close does it trim (without the useless foil attachment)?
I use a i-trim stubble trimmer at the moment which is like 0.5mm

      • From zero to #5

    Interesting combo of items

    • High Def shaving? ;)

  • I'm still on the fence with this one. Some reviews say it's not powerful enough to cut head hair. Can it cut OK, keeping in mind I have very short head hair as it is?

    • +1

Tried it on a friend and yes it's strong enough. Only if shaver head was bit wider

Tempting. I'm currently using the Philips 7300, and thinking of either getting this or the upgraded Phillips 7200 (they have a weird numbering system). Exact same price at US$50. Mainly using it for beard trimming so trimming increments are important, and I'm thinking this comb system isn't particularly useful for that use case? I'll miss the handy vacuum too, though will gain a couple of attachments that probably aren't too useful. Phillips also looks nicer. Hmmm.

    • Read your comment, checked out the 7200 and didn't even know they made trimmers with vacuums! Ended up pulling the trigger on the 7200

  • thanks OP.. just bought it.
i have been using a $30 pair of clippers so hopefully this is a a good upgrade

  • Does it have an adjustable trimmer head so you don't have to swap out a new head for different lengths?

    • +1

Unfortunately no, there are no modifiable guide combs so you'd need to change combs if you wanted different lengths.

  • I've had the groomer for about a week and it has been great, the stainless steel feels good to hold. I totally agree with ozy in his review that the shaver attachment isn't the best, but all the other attachments work well.
The guide combs allow you to choose various stubble and beard lengths.

I was surprised at how fast the shipping was from the US, I received my order in Melbourne in just over a week.

  • The Stingy Asian in me is 88 times furious that I paid $89AUD when the first ad came up. GAH

    • Oh no. Better let him out before he gets furious then.

To get the rebate for the 970 you could use a service like priceusa.com.au

  • I wish they'd make these with a USB charger so you don't have to (a) worry about adapters and (b) carry a charger with you when travelling

  • Thanks op. Purchased. have been looking for one of these, my craptastic $10 kmart special can finally be drop kicked off my balcony

  • I bought this too a few weeks back, amazon shipping was insanely fast can't believe it got here so quick. Comparing this to my old VS i-trim, this is heaps better quality. Very happy with the purchase.

Regarding the shaver attachment, I actually think its really good and am so glad it was included. I use it every day but only on my neck line and find it does an awesome job. I am comparing this to using the normal hair trimmer attachment though (without guides) and not a razor.

    • Does it trim as close as the I trim?

      • Not sure sorry I don't trim down to stubble, have a beard. The shaver attachment does a cleaner job than the itrim without the guide head though.

  • +1

The wahl trimmers, manufactured in US, are always going to be much cheaper than here in Australia. It's a good deal, and if you're looking for a bargain, get it. In Australia of course, there's only one retail store who sells it (albeit, more than double the price). Just don't be a dick and go into shavershop to ask advice, hold it in your hand and check out the features before buying it on amazon. Good price, buy it and don't support the Australian economy.

  • Thinking about buying this to trim the hairs ontop of my beard line. I have sensetive skin so I'm over shaving that part. Would this do a good job for a really close trim, or are there better options?

  • Hey it is charging me for shipping? is that normal? was it free shipping then and maybe not now? thanks

    • never free shipping to Aus

  • Does Amazon use USPS to Aus so I can have this sent to a parcel locker?
Also does this model come with a stand like the #9864 ?

    Thanks

    • No: according to the comparison chart on Amazon…only the 9886 and the 9864 do.

  • No more international shipping on the groomer, apparently :(

  • Bought the shaver a few weeks back…can't fault it. Easily worth $85
