  • I booked some jetstar Brisbane to hawaii flights last Friday for $425 each return. Sharing one checked bag, dreamliner flight. Might be worth keeping an eye out this Friday.

  • +4

Thought compared to cost of accommodation. Saving a bit on flights makes only a small change in trip cost.

    • Depending on where you want to stay of course. Youth hostels aren't that expensive and you can camp (we hired a car and camped for between $0-4 a night).

  • Good value accom. is Illikai apartments or Outrigger Regency on Beachwalk, both in good nick and have kitchens, few blocks from main areas, near Hilton Hawaiian Village. A week from AUD$1000 to $1750

    • Thanks I'll have a look. I'm going 3 September for a week and most are dear. Must be a busy period perhaps

      • No room at outrigger, illaki is $3200 aud for the week. Anyone have any tips?

        • You can book a condo at the Ilikai, instead of booking it as a hotel room. Try http://www.waikikibeachrentals.com/ . You don't get housekeeping since it's booked as a condo, like a holiday house. Might find it hard to find something available, there are other condos also on other websites.

        • @meowmeowmeow:

          Thanks mate good will consider.

  • So hard to predict the currency for next year April.

I've read that it's going to be terrible.
I know they're only predictions. But hey, I'm no expert.

    • Yeah predictions say it's gonna hit $0.40 to $1 USD

      • Yeah that's what I've read too.
Prob prepay and exchange this year whilst its 74c.

Will die if it goes the other way towards $1!

      • Predictions Ive seen are AUD$0.65 to USD$1 of late.

        • Ha!

I'm so smart I booked a 1 month drive across the USA holiday and on the day I arrived in Los Angeles to start the trip the dollar hit $0.48 back in 2002 - boy that was an expensive 4 weeks!!!

  • Cheap fares for sure!
Final price from Sydney is closer to $800 though.

Anyone know how the aircraft is that they use?? Old, new, clean, etc…?

    • Flightaware shows they use A330-200s. No idea about old or new but Qantas generally pretty clean?

      • Qantas have just refurbished most of their A330 aircraft so not too bad however there are 1 or 2 aircraft left to do.

They usually charge about $1300 so $749 is a good deal relative to the normal price.

  • But I'm flying Tiger/Jetstar ;-(

    This seems expensive.

Not for a full service airline.
      2 x 23kg bags, meals and entertainment.

Havent they been saying it will drop to .50usd for the last 3-4 years now? Seems that it won't be any higher than .75 or lower than .68 given the last couple years

  • Fyi all
Hawaiian Airlines have matched qantas prices for some dates :)

I just booked a family holiday for 16.

    $775 total with byojet.com.au
