    Prices please.

Thanks for the reminder, got caught up in the moment (spotty signal was frustrating too)!

      Updated.

Program destroyed my MP3 collection due to a bug, support people didn't care.
STRONGLY recommend PlayPro instead, good userinterface, bad name I admit.

    • +1

      Yep, PlayerPro is awesome.

    • +3

What was the bug and how did it destroy your collection?

      • +1

It was some kind of image download thing, it somehow confused the id3 tag, folder jpg etc. Literally had mp3 files which ended up as 12kb jpg ( retaining the mp3 extension tho ). Or it injected the jpg inside the mp3
Etc. It was a god damned mess. Player pro is just great regardless, I really hate power amp.

    • -2

So you only had one copy on a mobile device?

      How did it destroy it?

      • +3

        I had backups.
I shouldn't have needed them regardless.

        • -1

So how did it destroy them?

        • @Shonky: The files were completely corrupted, like MP3 copied into JPG - not just renamed but files 'attached' to each other. Almost like an old dos "copy file1.exe file2.exe" or some such where they get merged. It was just… they were totally boned. God knows what went on but I didn't even ask it to download album art iirc.

          PlayerPro all the way

    • PowerAmp doesn't even have the ability to rename files so I'm not sure how it did anything to your music collection. Also what did you expect support to do or say? If it really did rename all your files what can they do about it? You also said you had backups, so it is a very very minor inconvenience. I'm glad you didn't neg the deal, but I'm sure I've seen you post this story on PowerAmp deals before.

      • Last time I commented and negged I got downvoted. I didn't expect or want support to fix the problem, I'm a power user, not a gumby. Repairing the damaged files would be nigh on impossible. I just wanted to report the bug, they didn't give a damn.

PlayerPro is a better product entirely.
BTW: It wasn't MEANT to rename a file or do anything, I THINK it was trying to get album art and it did a very poor job in the file write process.

As a "power user" I'm sure you can appreciate that what you're saying is unlikely to be possibly caused by PowerAmp itself. Sounds more like a file system corruption. Files don't just magically get corrupted/appended by application like you're suggesting.

        • +1

@Shonky: jesus dude, it was poweramp, it was trying to update album art or something. Stop with the defensive hardon for the app, something went wrong, PERIOD

Oh, only files that got damaged, music only. While in Poweramp, AFTER it had tried to do some album art thing……….

        • -2

          @hamwhisperer:
You're the one banging on about how bad it is "destroying" your files.

No one else seems to have had this problem.

          Appreciate the neg though.

        • +1

@Shonky: destroyed only once and the issue is more the support reaction to the bug.

  • +1

Good time to grab Poweramp before the big coming update.

    • +7

what's with this big coming update?

  • +4

HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended, the amount of settings might be overwhelming at first but once done, you will barely have to control the app as everything is automatic. Plus it doesn't drain your battery. I've used Spotify and it drains your battery (even after I've download the playlist).

    • +1

Only read your name after purchasing the app partially because of this comment. heh nice one

    • That's just because it's using data. If you have the music downloaded set it to offline mode.

      • I did mention that I've downloaded the playlist, meaning I downloaded all my songs (9 songs only)
It could just be my phone.

        • +2

Sorry i phrased that wrong, I meant set it to offline mode after downloading your playlist. Even after downloading the music it still uses data eg. it has a function to show people what you're listening to and stuff which it does automatically.

        • @Clinton: oh, thanks dude, have to remember that next time I use it, I dont want people to know that I listen to Nsync

Been using PowerAmp for 2 years now and it's brilliant. Finds 99.9% of album art and it has great equaliser and playlist options. Also has an excellent full lock screen interface for when you mount the phone while driving.

    • +1

Yep best music player I've found…

    • Would you know if it passes the title, artist, album and art via bluetooth to a bluetooth head unit?

I find that PowerAmp passes nothing at all but the Samsung music player on my Note 3 passes all but the album art to my Kenwood DDX4016BT.

Was already looking to buy Sleep As, thanks OP. Grabbed Power Amp too just because.
Edit: Bought them with Google Opinions Credit too so extra win. Thanks again

  • My phone went through an OS update and wiped out my all my saved playlists..

Twilight Pro is a great app though, I have it on all the time.

  • Like PowerAmp .. one of the few players that makes sense of some of my albums with various artists. Many other players eg Play Music (Google) and the stock one, splits the album up. Equalizer is handy too.
(yeah I understand that there is some tag somewhere which isn't quite right)

Side note - I don't like how Play Music caps the volume on headphones - very crappy experience if you're connecting to an external speaker via a lead.

  • little intrigued re. PowerAmp:
