Please put the spec in the description, this one is 5" not the same deal post a few days ago.

Sometime very confused with all their models.

  • theres a lot of xiaomi models, how does this compare?
in fact, just to keep it simple, whats the best one for under $250, that has a sd card slot and doesnt have a stupid big screen

    • Probably this model.

The Redmi Note 3 is technically better, but has a "stupid big screen"

      • I love the stupid big screen anyway

      • +1

5.5" is not considered that stupidly big anymore. I remember back in the days of the Galaxy Note 1, anything above 5" was considered crazy but nowadays 5" is just standard with 5.5" and above considered Phablets. The Bigger screens are great, especially for media and games, as long as you're not too obsessed with one-handed operation.

        • 5.5" is not considered that stupidly big anymore

Agreed, I have friend use 7" lol …

    • +1

Using the xiaomi Redmi note 3 pro from EB deal and I wouldn't consider it having a stupid big screen. I reckon it's a good balance between a stupid big screen to an annoyingly hard to read screen.

Paid $270 for silver so definitely this is great deal. Would've loved a grey one.

Edit… Oops wrong phone. This one ain't note

    • +1

If you don't care for the 3gb and can do with 2gb. There's the normal redmi 3 for US$115… That's the only difference that I can see between the "pro" version.

This is all you need to compare this to the Note 3. Unless you value a smaller screen THAT much, the Note wins every day of the week

    http://www.kimovil.com/en/compare/xiaomi-redmi-3-pro,xiaomi-…

  • Ah, if only it had nfc

  • I got this phone and I love it so far, I feel like the screen is too big - could not imagine using the note, it would be ridiculous

      What's wrong with you?

      • +11

Small Hands Syndrome. Sufferers of this disease can't use phones any larger than 5 inches.

It's a tragic disease that has claimed the lives of many people.

          @bargainaus:

Lol alright mate, Ive seen people trying to use phablets, if thats the look you're going for in public good on you

I certainly dont want to look like a tool

        • +3

@Truthbe: Haha, sounds like you should get an iPhone if you just want "the look". Guess what, some people actually buy phones to USE them, not to BE SEEN using them…..

        • -1

          @billy_bob:

You misunderstood, they look like tools because they can barely hold them. That's the opposite of being usable

        • @Truthbe: Oh, you mean the people with SHS (Small Hands Syndrome). Fair enough. Lucky I have big hands so big screens are no problem.

        • @billy_bob:

Damn got me. Sure, SHS having a 5.5 inch phone being too big to use. Its like a giant yelling at normal sized people that they're midgets. I for one am jealous of your massive gorilla hands. I wish I could be a sideshow act, but I am not - I am but a simple person with normal hands

        • @Truthbe: Lol, How about the look on people with Big Hands Syndrome(BHS) holding iPhone 4/5 or old Nokia phones.
I always loved fellow Australians because we were never worried about the Looks.

        • @akd:

Well I guess now there's a phone for everyone

  • Anyone know what warranty is like with AliExpress?

  • Clearing stock to make way for the just released redmi 3s with sd430 soc? Appears the 3s gets a marshmallow update whereas the 3 doesn't : https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/will-redmi-3-ever-get-an…

1280x720 screen in a 5" phone ….. would have expected 1080p if it's current technology.

    • +4

You're comparing against flagship phones….this thing is $200, not $700

  • Good phone, good price. Purchased the same phone from the same seller a month ago. No problems so far and the battery life is great, only have to charge it every second day.

    • How is the OS; is it stock android? My SO really loves the Nexus phones for the clean, vanilla android experience.

      • +1

No its not stock. Its skinned version of vanilla android. Its kind of iOS.

        • I'm guessing it has active ROM support like Cyangemod?

        • +1

          Weekly updates

  • this particular phone not listed on http://willmyphonework.net/

any other network checking tool ?

  • Any other unlocked cheap phones that can be bought in AUS? I want a few as gifts but by next week, this will take several weeks unfortunately.

    • +1

I want a few as gifts but by next week, this will take several weeks unfortunately.

If you don't mind to pay a bit more you can find them on eBay Australia and ask them to make sure they have stock locally.

    • Try a ~AUD$115 5" Doogee X5 Max Pro 2gb/16gb: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253192

  • Just bought the Mi Max… wish I had bought this phone instead! Would have had a better product for half the price…

  • Be careful guys, this is quite a bit lower spec'd than the normal Redmi Note 3 Pro (that was here for $230ish the other day)

    much smaller screen resolution
    smaller physical size
crappier CPU & GPU (snapdragon 616 scores 31k in antutu, vs 75k in the 650)
    no fingerprint scanner
    less MP camera

id choose a 2gb Redmi Note 3 Pro over this for the same price or less.

    • Also, no LTE700 (band 28), no NFC.

    • Do you have your names confused? This is a Redmi Note 3 Pro, there is no better version of the Note 3 Pro.

What you are talking about is Redmi Note 3 which is the larger 5.5" version with better specs. For people that like the smaller screen, this is the right phone to get.

Furthermore, the 5.5" Note 3 with 2GB of RAM only comes with 16GB of space is cheaper than the 5" Note 3 Pro because it comes with 3GB of RAM with 32GB of space. The more expensive one will be the 3GB variant. I definitely wouldn't want a phone with only 2GB if RAM, that's just asking for trouble. The extra RAM greatly helps utilise the phone's hardware making for a much smoother experience.

  • What is the highest model phone that Xiaomi offers? Mi 5 pro?

    • yea. Though the mi note 2 is going to be released very soon..

  • How is the ROM? Is there need to flash or is everything ready to roll out of the box?

  • Thanks OP, purchased the gold one for $186!
