Before buying, go to the store and ask for the remote. Turn it off, then turn it back on again. Check the load time because Hisense can be veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow to boot up. Like taking a full minute before you can change the channel, volume or input.

Apart from that, I love my Hisense!

    • +2

The Sony KD55X8000C that I got from a previous TGG also had the same affliction. A few system updates later it is down to about 20 secs now.

      • i second this. Sony's are awful slow when you turn it on. mine and my brothers.

    • How about changing channel or volume? 20 seconds delay? What other smart TVs have that this doesn't? I assume this is 3D compatible? or not?

    • +1

Do you have ABC iView available on yours?
I bought one for my inlaws. It seems to run on IOS platform and this app isnt compatible it seems?
It has Netflix, SBS on Demand and a few others.

      • It's got some apps etc, not sure about iview, but everything else that I try to install says it can't because the version of Android isn't compatible. Effectively any decent app that I want to use won't go on there such as 7,10, presto.

        • Yeah ok , there may be a way of 'sideloading ' apk files via USB stick but havent looked into this much yet.
Shame really - nice TV's for the price apart from the software issues.

      • I have this model, if you're watching abc and press the remote menu button with the red line on it it will take you to abc iview, if you're watching sbs the button will take you to sbs on demand

    • My Sony KDL60W600B takes almost a minute to bootup!!

    • My 6 months old samsung seems to be doing the same thing. some of the option/feature are grayed out but if you turn the tv off and on again it'll be available to use eg. PIP. Vol sometimes lags so as changing the CH, feels like it processing power isnt there or enough, guess thats also why samsung decided to remove the option to be able to watch/preview a channel on your smart phone before switching to it.

  • +2

It's not listed on the TGG site but this set does have 802.11b/g/n/ac wireless built in.

    • Dual Band, 2.4GHz & 5GHz

Anyone comment on the picture quality or lag for gaming? Looks an awesome price.

    • I don't know about this particular set, but I've heard the input lag can be quite noticeable for other Hisense 4K TVs.

      • +1 would also like to know about gaming on this set?

  • What is the upscaling like? That seems important to get a benefit from UHD.
Also is the smart menu any good with desent ram and speed.
Can anyone confirm if this one lags on startup.

Good deal, and tempting. Agree that it's a step above the Aldi/Soniq/etc - I'd compare it with the likes of TCL. Note that the fine print for the Good Guys credit is "Store Credits will be received no later than Wednesday 6th July 2016. The Store Credit will be valid until Monday 8th of August 2016." - in other words you will have a month to use the credit.

Ah to heck with it. Bought. $795 (after voucher) is too good to miss. It's for the kids in the games room anyhow so they won't be too picky, and school holidays starts at the end of today… have gone for local pickup - hopefully will get it today and maybe can tell people what it's like before the deal ends! Thanks, OP.

Interesting. They note that it is similar to the K321 and in fact if you try to download the manual for this TV, you get the manual for the K321. I suspect that the K322 is just the OZ variant of the European PAL set - so not a big enough difference in specs to make it worthwhile having a different manual! If you do a search for K321 you'll find a few reviews of it - generally positive….

    • +1

Bought. Thanks OP. @ plasticspaceman how did you get your voucher? I paid $995 online via paypal and havent received any email re the voucher …did you get it instore when you picked up? did i miss anything?

      • +1

I believe they just email it to you in a few days.

  • +2

Local HN had this at 889 on a super Saturday sale and kept it running. Its been normal price since.
It wasn't so heavily discounted down from normal price of 995 I've seen it elsewhere..screen looked good and good price vs size.
The 200 store credit might be a sweetener,
I've been looking for 55-65 for a while, so got interested in this option, but just something was holding me back…..

What refresh rate does it have? Thanks

    • I was trying to buy this yesterday from the GG in store. I recall on a label next to the price it stated 100hz. But i couldnt verify that anywhere online.

I actually bought it today online, will pick it up in store this Sat.

  • Does anyone know if this can stack with this deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/254429 - does purchasing from good guys eBay still qualify for their $200 voucher.

    • +1

That would be an eBay promotion so computer says no.

      • Cheers

edit: the ebay discount seems like it might be a targeted offer anyway

Got the 65" recently and have been very happy with it.
UHD from Netflix on the Hisense is just beautiful ! normal TV is fine too.
Just tested the TV start up with the timer :
    - 5 secs for the Hisense logo to come up
    - 20 secs for normal TV picture & sound.
IMO, save the money for a nice TV cabinet and Ozbargain spending…

  • If you pay with gift card, do you still get $200 store credit back?

    • yes..confirmed by calling their customer support.
best is to buy $300 GC from TGG store for $50 Amex statement credit and use that for online purchase.

      • Thanks for the info.

  • -4

    Be careful with Hisense's system!
It is not pure android! it is called AliYun! Chinese government can control your TV by this system! If they think an app is not good for you(them), they can uninstall it without your consent!
BTW, another Chinses brand TCL uses this system as well!

  • certainly Good deal; I've bought this one earlier this year and the unit works excellent. NO booting delay at all.

  • +2

Got this from HN last week with 7 year replacement warranty.. not an audiophile but:

    • colors and everything look great to me.. as mentioned above its about 20-30seconds to startup
    • netflix works great and 4K is awesome (FTTP NBN)
    • plex also works great, the interface has a bit of lag browsing around but plays perfect quality etc

Netflix and Plex are the two reasons I bought it (have lots of chromecasts all around the house but wanted something convenient for the main TV). Freeview Plus works fine it just takes a few seconds to startup.

Some old shows don't look great but majority look fine, it depends on the show.. even an oldie like MASH can look fine. For 7/9/10 just use 70/90/13 for the HD channels and there's no pixelation.. the only pixelation I really notice is on certain old shows (90-early 2k's) on 11 etc

Don't have a console so can't comment on gaming.

FYI it actually runs Opera TV, not android.

For the price it's a great TV.. it's the first time I've upgraded the main TV since 2006 (LG 42") and the difference is huge.

    • How much at your HN store? 889 locally here.

      • +2

980 on the 1/2 yearly clearance 50mo interest free and 7 year replacement warranty.. they were selling out pretty quick and had to order more. they also have 50 and 55" non UHD for 777 and 998 i think it is.

don't know refresh rate but it has advanced toggles for all the different picture manipulations (each can be set off/low/medium/high) it does and has game mode too.

    • Thank you very much for the review, will be heading to TGG on the way home to view and then purchase online.

  • No refresh rate listed anywhere.

  • +1

What's gaming like on this set (and Hisense UHD TV's in general)?

For what it's worth, if you're in Victoria you might also be able to claim $60 back via the VEET scheme eg:
    http://www.smartuser.com.au/energy-rebate/

They list the 58K321UW but they might let this through. Worth a try…. ;-)

  • +1

Bought it today. I was in the GG store last night and the TV looks pretty good.
I will be using the $200 voucher to purchase a bracket that coincidently comes in at just under $200.

  • +2

Bought one yesterday. Looks pretty good. kids Happy with it. Takes about 25 sec to come on. A little slow on flicking between channels, like a second. Not as quick as my Samsung.

  • Warning about Hisense - I have the 60" - its a dont buy for me. It has all the apps but processing speed it slow, wifi on it is terrible and sound is garbage.

    • +2

yeah but for the $500 + you are saving from other brands you could buy a xbox one and soundbar to go with it.

      • Yeah I saved money - but to be honest I wish I had spent the $500 more. It runs Android but it is very buggy and slow, my house has very strong wifi on all my devices but this tv constantly drops out and the sound - oh man the sound - you turn the volume up and you still cant understand the words half the time, very poor quality, half the time I have to put subtitles on and I aint exactly an old man.

They may have improved though, mine is now 12 months old.

EDIT - Oh OK I see what your saying now…XBox to stream/apps and soundbar to fix the sound. Not an option for me - my set up is very sleek and custom built back into a modern fireplace - no wires or peripherals showing at all. Could be good option for others though.

        • +2

Chromecast $30 will fix all the smart TV deficiencies.
All TVs of this size have cruddy sound and would benefit hugely from external speakers. See the reviews for Sony, LG, Samsung etc…
For me the picture quality and 3 year warranty (Sony is only 1 year) are the key stand outs for the price.

        • +1

+1 for the suggestion about a Chromecast from @plasmapuff - almost certainly could hide one behind the tv. There are ways and means to everything - my tv is hung on the wall, with all cabling hidden going into a cabinet in the room behind where the blue-ray player, receiver, xbox, fetch, apple tv, etc live. Speakers are built into the wall and ceiling, with a subwoofer hidden in a separate cabinet.

  • +2

….and picked mine up this afternoon. Currently don't have an aerial where I've set it up, but initial impressions are good. Fired up Ant Man (HD iTunes) and scaling appears to be pretty good. Takes about 16 seconds to start. So far, happy with it. Just need to hook the Wii up to it now and see what that looks like in 4k through the composite port. Oooh…. slightly blurry…. Heh. Who woulda thunk. ;-)

    • Hey mate, if you dont mind checking and posting, does Freeview plus (7,10, SBS) work all right also does iview work? These are important to me.

Sorry dont worry, no aerial noted.

Anyone else have one can check?

      • Likely I won't have it setup tonight in time to comment before the Store Credit deal ends, but FREEVIEW+ is listed as a key feature (& it does have a PVR function) http://hisense.com.au/product/58-k322/
        Not sure about iView

      • Sorry - tried to run a cable but will be a weekend thing. The kids are now watching Ant Man so I have officially lost access to the TV for tonight and quite possibly for the next two weeks (school hols). Personally, even if it supported iView etc I'd probably still consider a Chromecast or Apple TV and use that instead. I briefly tried Plex but it timed out for some reason and I gave up. The TV has four HDMI ports so probably should be enough for most people. These built in apps invariably seem to have issues either lag, or missing features, etc.

    • Any lag with gaming?

      • No idea. I seriously only have an old school Wii in the games room….. I have the Xbox hooked up to a projector in another room for decent 3m wide gaming goodness, ;-)

  • Anyone recommend a good cheap sound bar at the moment? :)

    • +1

A sound bar or even better a real surround sound receiver & speakers would of course be good but try the TV as it is first - it actually doesn't suck too bad. The TV is not stupid thin so I suspect they've been able to put in slightly bigger speakers than those in some of the current wafer thin jobs.

  • I see there are HDMI 2.0 ports but does anyone know if these do 4K at 60Hz with 4:4:4 Chroma?

    Thanks.

    • very unlikely

  • Just went in store and had a look. Looked comparable to all the TVs around it from 3-4m away. Just bought online. $795 for a UHD 58" with 3 year warranty, sold.

    • Its not $795.

      • $200 store credit, so the TV is $795

  • +2

Bought one for mum from Harvey Norman couple of weeks ago for $995. Great TV, remote is easy to use. She watches a lot of stuff on YouTube and the TV has built in youtube button. Wifi works fine and image quality is great. I would highly recommend this for the price.

Victor Company of Japan, Ltd (日本ビクター株式会社 Nippon Bikutā Kabushiki-gaisha?), TYO: 6792, usually referred to as JVC,[2] is a Japanese international consumer and professional electronics corporation based in Yokohama, Japan. From 1953 to 2008, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. was the majority stockholder in JVC. In 2008, JVC merged with Kenwood Corporation to create JVC Kenwood Holdings.

  • Bought one, thanks OP.

  • Guys is it possible to get this on an interest free plan online?

I had a quick read through it and says I need to get one of the GEM visa cards, it says it takes 5 min to apply and a minute for a response, and then can start shopping… would this mean I can buy this tv online tonight before the store credit promo ends in 50 min?

  • wish there was a review somewhere! looking for a TV for my kid.

    • Review in a below post

  • I'm shattered.

Just bought this TV tonight and plugged it in.

Won't turn on. The red led indicator just flashes 6 times, most likely a short.

What a buzz kill…can I just take it back to Good Guys to get it replaced or are they going to make me go through Hisense?

    UPDATE
After reading up on potential problems I heard the tv starting to play music (I guess this happens when the TV is idle for too long). It must've been on, but had no picture.

I shone a light on the screen with my phone and realised that the picture was actually there, it was the back light that was broken…at least I seem to have pinpointed the problem. Sigh

Tl;dr - I got sold a TV that has power supply issues as well as no backlight

    • +1

Oh no :( obviously will get a refund / replacement though (btw protip: don't settle for a repair!! I've seen retailers try to burn people with this)

    • Refund but get to keep the $200 gift card?

  • All the new buyers, waiting for your reviews

    • Will post one once I get it setup. Already downloaded some 4k demos.

I'm hoping I get the email to pick it up today.

    • reviewed in a lower post.

    • Ive only had a quick play with it, its going back in the box until we move. But the UI and menu's were easy to navigate, and feel responsive (better than many TV's ive come across). I notice a small delay when changing channels, but nothing concerning (and was not expecting alot for the $). Played "Big Buck Bunny" in 4K last night, and it looked great. The sound isnt terrible, onpar with TV's these days. Visually the TV looks good - slim bezel design and stand. havnt had a chance to try out the PVR feature, not holding my breath for it though - but might be a handy bonus if it works well.

Edit: id recommend following the K321 colour setting guides online. I noticed that when i switched to USB/Media that the colour settings needed to be reapplied - so it seems these can be configured specific for each source (handy for tv/movies/consoles).

  • +4

So i've had this about an hour now, and for the price, it's unbelievable.

Just watched some 4k demos and it looks as good as any non-oled UHD i've seen.

SD looks pretty garbage (like it does on most), and Football on fox HD had a tiny bit of ghosting, but i've come from a plasma so I notice it straight away. Audio through ARC works perfectly, and I haven't even played with the colour settings yet.

For the $795 i paid (with $200 store credit bonus), a 3 year warranty, and the quality i've witnessed so far, it's an absolute bargain.

    • +1

gah…makes me a bit annoyed I didnt pull the trigger..need something for my mid to watch tv and movies in the next month or so.

Im very unlikly to ever play 4k content so a bit hesitent about a cheap 4k tv.

i.e. what does TV look like.

      • +1

It's hard for me to compare these days because I've been watching HD foxtel for so long, all SD looks horrible.

Just finished watching a blu-ray and it's fantastic. I could not recommend this TV enough even for $1000.

  • +2

I bought one and am impressed.
Picture can be made nice and natural with a wide angle of view without it washing out.
Even standard definition Channel 2 can be o.k.
I have a banner advertising the tv's virtues popping up on the screen all the time that I can't get rid of.

    • +2
