  • Bummer it's not for QLD students :(

    • +3

      QLD students already get free office.

      • +2

        Windows 10 and Adobe software would be nice too

      • How QLD students get MS Office for free? Can you please point me in the right direction?

        • +1

          Log into uni/tafe outlook, will be a offer to download Office for free. Its Aus wide

          @nocure:

          Yep I used my boys school email address (9yo & 10yo) and put it on their laptops. I got their email address setup with the help of their Teachers.

        • @nocure:

          Do I need to be an active student? I on a leave of absence

  • My TAFE email ends with tafensw.net.au and isn't valid, are there alternatives I can use or do I need to ask IT at my campus?

    • +1

      most if not all TAFE/universities in NSW use Dreamspark. It has mostly the same functionalities except it's a microsoft service but free. google your tafe for dreamspark and use the instructions to register for it. idk why you are being cut out of this one sorry i can't help with that :(

    • All Tafes that do ICT have dreamspark, but you must be in a course they justify the need to give you access. You can ask IT services at your local campus but unless your doing an ICT course Id say they wont allow access

  • +1

    doesnt work for staff? i.e @det

    • +1

      Staff can get Office 365 (Office 2016 subscription) for free. Just go to Staff Portal, My learning tools, Microsoft Office 365 and click Install Now.

      After installing it will ask you to login and use your DET account.

    • NSW staff can get Office for free in their portal.

      Go to "My learning tools"

    Give students free windows and office then charge them $50,000 for a degree! Love this country

    • +17

      To be fair the software providers here (Microsoft, Adobe etc) are being generous here. It does help them in the long run as you are familiar with their software and more likely to purchase it in the future. Same reason Autodesk gives away AutoCAD free to students. The cost of the degree has to be blamed on universities and the government.

      • +5

        Also, the software vendors aren't giving it away, it is benefit of the licence agreement that the school/department etc has with the vendor…

      • +1

        I cant even use my university email. I go to unsw and it doesnt work. Lol

        • That's why they sell you a "Student" edition for being a University/Tafe/Oversea Student. This offer are for primary and high school students.

        • usyd doesn't work either :/

        • +1

          @constantly L8: mostly you need a DEC email address to register.

      • Yeh the cost of Uni has nothing to do with Dean's etc asking for salaries of hundreds of thousands.

  • University email not accepted :(

    • NSW public school emails only.

      Students will need to use their @education.nsw.gov.au student email address

      • With an organization-issued email address (e.g. a ".edu" address)

        should work with university email?

        • Where does it mention that?

          EDIT: NM, found it. A bit misleading I reckon.

        • but doesnt work with my uni email

        • Unis are private man. All unis have dreamspark and give access to students in course that require access, such as COMP1050 OR INFO1010 at UON. Apart from that search for on the hub, and youll find a request for access on there, you can enter your data and hope they approve.

          The other option is enrol in a course that allows you to access "onthehub" / "dreamspark" download what you need and fast and drop course before census date.

          I know a few people that do that

  • South Australia have a similar offer?

      • -1

        Cheers. Turns out they are all upgrade keys, you need an existing license of 7 or 8.1 to make use of.

        • I am Flinders student and we get free MS Office to use in all our devices, but I wouldn't want Win 10 even if I get paid to have it. Unfortunately it came installed in my new laptop, but I have Win 7 Ultimate in my PC and will use it until the day Microsoft decides to stop updating it. F Win 10!

        • I can tell you this is definitely not the case re them just being upgrade keys.

  • So this cannot be used for a new install of Windows 10?

    • Windows 10 upgrade is still free for everyone until the end of the month.

      You can clean install, you just need a version of windows installed to start the installation.

    • Actually this can be used for a new install on a new computer!

      You get the ISO direct from Microsoft, just enter your key for the Windows 10 Education version here:
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/vlacademic…

      My nephew did it successfully

  • https://portal.office.com/start?sku=e82ae690-a2d5-4d76-8d30-…

    Just register your "edu.au" email here and it works.

  • Anyone know if there's something similar for Victoria? Thanks

    • There is one with Victoria - I think all public education in Australia have access to office. Sadly, I'm not sure where to go. Try the Victorian department of education site

  • Anyone know what happens after I graduate with unlimited Google Drive?

  • For students in the ACT, goto backpack.ed.act.edu.au and log in like you would at school. You'll have access to a lot of things (including office and Google apps) as long as you've got your details at school saying your m you have permission.
    This works for high school and primary school - not sure about any higher. Also, public only.

    • But it does not have the Adobe Creative Cloud.

      • It includes:
        * GAFE with a number of plug-ins (not going to go into all of them as they get more added as needed)
        * Office 365
        * Atomic Learning
        *Cybersafety Help (basically a big red button you can download to help your children with Cybersafety issues)
        * Adobe Connect
        * MyLearning Life

        (note - as a teacher this is what I see. Some things MAY be different for students)

        • This is what my son has as well. Do you know if Adobe Creative Cloud coming soon? He has Adobe Connect, but does not know what it is, any ideas?

        • @graham212: Connect is a web-conferencing tool. I'm unsure if anything else is going to be added (most likely it will be added as Google Apps related products to make it so as many people as possible can use it).
