So I was looking around for a descent TV before the EOFY sale ends and spotted a reasonably price 60" LG 4k TV.
Cheapest price I could find through research was $1998 at Retravision which is WA and SA only, unsure of the delivery and whether they would deliver to other states.
So I do what I would typically and went to price-match at local TGG and JB stores in VIC.
- The JB-Hifi home on Nepean Highway wouldn't move after their 15% discount, making it $2121 (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…)
- The Good Guys on Nepean Highway was eventually convinced to match at the exact figure of $2000, however their stock don't arrive until 3rd July (but they were happy to put through that price first) - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-60-inches151cm-uhd-led-lcd…
- Eventually went to Westfield Southland JB-Hifi and the manager there agreed to match the Retravision price @ $1998 (obviously excluding delivery).
I would suggest buying at JB as they seem to have this 2-year extended warranty for free at the moment (not sure if its a special or if its permanent as LG normally only 12-months and Retravision shows 12-month warranty only).
BONUS:
If you have corporate benefits and can get onto Reward Gateway or similar programs, they are currently having a 4-day 8.5% off gift vouchers special at the moment (normally 6%) if you are lucky enough to be able to get these gift vouchers.
Calculation and Breakdown:
1. Price Match at JB-Hifi using Retravision's price online, try a few different stores you will eventually succeed
2. If you have discounted vouchers you can purchase instantly and redeem, purchase $2000 ($1000 x 2) of e-vouchers for $1830 on the spot online
3. Redeem at counter and you will have $2 spare on one of your vouchers which you can forget about or hold out until something is $2 later and use it up :-)
PRICE without Voucher: $1998
PRICE with Voucher: $1828 (or $1830 with $2 to spare)
