  • Super bad timing. Opened up 2 accounts this past weekend. Can a bank rep confirm we're out of luck?

    It looks like this won't work even if we close and re-open the accounts…

    Having said that I've had a few issues with my account setup so I might be switching to another bank, especially with the reviews other people have mentioned, didn't even think to read reviews of a bank!

    They called themselves "Australia's best bank". Are they allowed to just make claims like that?

      yes, that is what in legal terms is known as "puffery" as it is not an easily quantifiable statement.
      If they said "Australia's lowest fee bank" or the likes, that'd have to be able to back it up (similar to "Lowest Airfares Guaranteed" for instance, that is quantifiable and they have to honor it - ACCC took action against Flight Centre for that when it proved often false).

    Got my debit card already, is there any confirmation that the promo has already been applied to my account though or do I just need to wait see if the tickets turn up after meeting the criteria?

    • I got no notification of the promotion after signing up either.

      Just spoke to ME Bank on the phone. It's normal not to get anything via post or email with details of the promotion.
      As long as you entered the promo code when you signed up and make 1 tap and go purchase a week (no minimum).

    Is this based off a calendar month( eg. I signed up in the middle of July and I will not qualify for a GC voucher for the month of July.
    Or is this based on Sunday to Saturday week where I make a tap and go purchas on saturday and then again on sunday which would equal to two weeks I have made a tap and go payment on?

      • Yes rep, we need an answer on this. Also need to know if the first week starts from your registration date or opening/activation of the account as I'm still waiting for my card almost 7 days after the registration, which would mean I miss out on 1 ticket..

      • I called and up and was told its based off your transaction date.

        • the example they explained to me she would tap and go on Monday 4th July and even if she forgot to tap and go again on monday 11th July, she would still have until 17th July to tap and go and still be counted.

        • however I am then unsure if whether its a calendar week or whether from the last tap and go point which would then be the 17th july.

        I need to know the true definition of tap and go (weekly) for the GC voucher promo
        -the example an operator gave explained to me she would tap and go on Monday 4th July and even if she forgot to tap and go again on monday 11th July, she would still have until 17th July to tap and go and still be counted.

        however I am then unsure if whether its a calendar week (monday - Sunday), (Sunday - Saturday) or whether from the last tap and go date, which would then be the 17th july.

        So my example is I tapped on Thursday 7th July.
        Two scenarios are:L
        (1)- if you go by calendar week then I can make my next tap on Monday 11th July which is a new calendar week
        or
        (2)- it is based on the tap date and I will need to tap between Thur 14th to Wed 20th July.

        (2.a)if (2) is correct then if I were to tap on the 20th, I have another 7 days to make my next tap.

      • hoping if they go by tap date only, then technically you can make a payment every 13 days from the last tap.
        Example:
        1/07/2016
        14/07/2016
        27/07/2016
        7/08/2016

          Hi 'Once per week' is defined as:
          *every seven days (eg. 1st to the 7th, 8th to the 14th, 15th to the 21st and 22nd to the end of each month), OR
          *every calendar week (eg. Monday to Sunday ending within the month). If you make your PayPass purchases according to either of these definitions you will be eligible for the offer. Jason

  • I just received my card today. But I have no confirmation on the promo. I thought something would be sent at least via email. Also have no idea when it starts? "Make one tap and go purchase each week in a month" but it's the 11th of the month…so do I bother for the rest of the month seeing as the first week is gone? So confused.

    I don't honestly know in their right mind who would use this company once this deal is finished.

    Their website and Internet Banking is absolutely pathetic and is not professional at all.

    I cannot wait to cancel once I get my 6 gold class passes and take my $1 I deposited elsewhere.

          Mine was sent from ME Bank and had "Here's your Gold Class voucher" as the subject. The email has a link to download a PDF that had pic of a normal Gold Class voucher with the voucher number, PIN and expiry date. Plus a bunch of T&Cs for Village and Event cinemas.
