I just got the UAG for my 9.7" iPad Pro yesterday (from Good Guys). Haven't opened it yes as I am undecided if I should keep it or sell it and grab something slimmer…

Have had one on my Galaxy S5 for the last 2 years and the phone has survived all kinds of drops and bumps with it on.
Was looking for one for my new Galaxy S7 Edge last week and they are about $43-45.00 locally by the looks of it (happy for someone to correct me with a link to cheaper genuine ones).
If I've done my sums correctly, buying a case for the 7 Edge from these guys comes to about $38.00.
Use the UAG case for the iPad Air 2. I've dropped it onto hard flooring a couple times with no ill effects. My only criticism is that the edges wear within a few months. The edges of my red case are white and rough, but not too badly. I think they're good protective cases and that (at least as very protective cases for iPads go) they're not nearly as bulky as most (padded) cases are. When I upgrade to the iPad Pro in a year or two, I'll definitely buy the same style case for it.
