Vodafone $50 Red SIM Only Plan Changes

Received an email from Vodafone advicing that they are automatically moving the old $50 Red Plan to a new one which has more international minutes but no allowance for the country that I need to call. It does add an extra 4GB of data to "compensate" for this.

Just wondering whether anyone has had any success in negotiating to keep the old 300 Minutes with no restrictions on the countries.

Based on the the $40 Optus becomes a better deal due to more data.

Excerpt of the plan details below:

We're contacting you today to let you know that we will be automatically moving you onto our current $50 SIM Only month to month plan1 from the 8th August, 2016.

Below you'll find the details of your new plan inclusions as well as answers to questions you may have about this change.

If you like to call internationally, your preferred country may no longer be included on our list of countries you can call. So, to help you explore online messaging service options, like Skype and WhatsApp, we're giving you an additional 4GB BONUS data4 as outlined below.

Welcome to our $50 SIM Only month to month plan1.
If your current monthly access fee is less than the plan we are moving you to, we'll give you a credit for the difference and this will be applied to your account every month.2

When in Australia you'll get:

  • Infinite standard national calls to any network in Australia.
  • Infinite standard TXT here and to overseas.
  • Super 1000 – 1000 standard International minutes from Oz to call Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, UK and USA; and 300 Standard International minutes from Oz to selected countries3.
  • 8GB data (4GB data plus BONUS 4GB data for each month you stay
    connected)4

Thanks

  • Are you on a contract?

    • Iam on post pay month to month; will be contacting them to see whether there is another option; strange that the decided to change this at a days notice

  • I just changed into the new plan. But mine says unlimited calls to ten countries, not just 1000 minutes.

My preferred country is in the unlimited list so this is more better plan for me than the old 300 minutes anywhere in the world plan..

Shared the same plan with my wife. And got a 10% off for the second service.

Actually in the past , Vodafone contacted me many times to change the old 50 dollars plan.

    Cheers

  • Has anyone moved to this new Red Sim only plan who got the 30% life discount this time last year?

It came with 3GB plus EOFY 1GB bonus plus 1GB online bonus.

    • OP from what I understand if you are moved by Vodafone automatically to this new plan the old discounts will still apply. I was paying $35 for this and this is not going to change.

      • That makes sense.

Interestingly the bonus GB I received for he past 12 months are being charged!

        • They have given me 8 GB data instead of 3GB before, I wasnt getting the 1 GB bonus as I had joined before that;

        • @Brainwhacker:

I'm on a deal where I got 30% off for life. Supposed to have 6GB data and 300mins if international calls.

Basically it's supposed to cost $35 but the 3GB of data is being incorrectly charged now.

  • To those that want international minutes to unrestricted countries this deal might help:
