Re cheap (real) leather jackets, Myer regularly has their Reserve brand of leather jackets on special for around $150 down from RRP of $250. I think they use pig skin.

  • Where are the jackets made in? thanks

    • -3

      In a factory.

    • All Oxford stock is made in China.

      Good quality suits though.

  • look like decent quality, if a little short in length.

    • That's kinda what I'm after as a short guy, it's hard to find clothes that fit!

  • Check out the Italian sellers on ebay if after leather, Always random Armani leather jackets from 1-2 seasons ago for 400-500 bucks.
Those cute Mongolian lambs died for you :3

    • I doubt about the authenticity though

  • Goddammit. I've been hunting around for a dark/black leather jacket all EOFY sales and haven't come across any of this (biker) style that i like. This oxford one looks the goods but the body of it seems way shorter compared to the sleeve length. Plus they don't have my size in stock anyway.

Was gonna order off Viparo but paying that much for sight/touch unseen is always a big risk.

    • Maybe try in store. Interested to hear about the length of the body as well, it certainly looks too short in the pictures.

      • I also thought when looking online that it's a bit short but when I tried in store I fit well and bottom of the jacket touches top of the trousers.

    • I bought the Riley Jacket from Connor with their 20% off coupon for new customers. CashRewards is offering 5.60% off on Connor as well for non sale items (the jacket is not on sale).

I read the reviews before and like the jacket so far.

  • Is this sheepskin leather or cowhide leather ?

    • +8

probably porcine or hair sheep or what ever is cheap in india/pakistan.

the less they tell you, the worse you can assume the leather is.

(a good jacket will have a description like - "full grain vegetable tanned aniline dyed horsehide, made in japan by shinki tannery")
(a crappy jacket will have a description like - "this jacket made from super soft leather has practical zipper pockets")

      • so true,
it literally just says '100% Leather'
hahaha don't go near it man

If it comes from China, the leather may come from convicts.. after the organs are removed for transplants of course.

        • and this article is relelvant .. how?

  • Cheapest one I've found on eBay that looks high quality https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331905119912

    I think usually it's 60% off. So it's essentially $30 saving.

I can't remember Oxford ever have a day without sale less than 40% off.

  • Just tried one on and if you are considering without trying it on get a size bigger. I'm usually an XL and the XL was very tight. Even the XXL was snug

  • I think these have fairly ridiculous markups to begin with. In the past I've checked out the 'Turkish' sellers at QV markets who carry some quite decent leather jackets for around $200. You can haggle a little as well. Also it doesn't say what sort of leather which generally implies it's not cow hide.

  • Cool jackets are not warm.

  • Don't ever buy 'leather' jackets from brands that aren't known for their quality
If you look you'll be able to find leather jackets from reputable brands like Schott

maybe look a little harder rather then linking the first one you find

        • At least it's in stock ….

        • @rbyrnes:
good argument, instead of looking for other stores pay twice as much lol
          where's the patience these days
