Argh Prime day coming up tomorrow. Might want to wait until then to check the deals before deciding whether to join up for the one month trial.

    • But this deal expires tomorrow, so if you want the jaybirds you'll need to sign up now. Hopefully there's some good deals tomorrow, prime day next year will have the 10% GST.

  • I bought a pair of these in June when they dropped to US $90. I watched the price for about 1 month. Fluctuated between US $90 - $115 in that time.
Also, Jaybird X3 model due out soonish. Price may drop further. I couldn't be bother waiting. :P

  • I bought a pair of Jaybird X2. In terms of comfort, i like the Bose SoundSport - i think Bose use a better silicon compared to Jaybird which feels plasticky. That said, this is wireless and Bose is wired (and as usual priced way too high )

Sound quality wise, Jaybird has a better treble vs Bose on the Base side. mid range seems just approx similar (or I aged too much to hear much difference)

    • The only place where wired doesn't mean awful in the gym is if you do cardio on a machine IME.

Awesome, great deal and great timing. My Jabra's just went through the wash and although they are sparkly clean and have a hint of lemon, they are also now in the bin. Was trying to decide whether to get a replacement or change to these, and this price seals it for me.

  • These are great, good compromise between sound quality and comfort. I was impressed how well they sounded, but I my expectations weren't that high.

  • I was tossing up between these and the Sol Republic Shadow (https://www.amazon.com/SOL-REPUBLIC-Shadow-Wireless-Headphon…), which happen to be USD90 as well. Ended up getting the Shadow, because apparently the sound quality is a bit better. Not on sale or anything right now but might be worth checking out if you're in the market for a decent pair of bluetooth earphones!

    • Not a fan of the neckband TBH

      • Yeah I got it for the neckband. Thought I might be able to use it around my helmet while riding. Pretty much impossible when you're wearing gloves though…

        • Give the backbeat fit a stab, doesnt isolate but maybe not something you want while riding a bike? Buttons are nice and big, should be ok with gloves

        • @BargainKen: I actually do want isolation while riding (cuts out wind noise) but yeah this won't fit under a helmet! Fairly happy with my Shadow so far but tempted to get the Jaybird anyway…

  • This is pretty awesome. Ive got a pair- battery lasts very long but I recommend you guys to get the foam earbuds

Don't they already come with Comply?

  • Great deal got to use my amazon voucher!

  • I purchased this last deal. Great sound but I can't keep the earphones comfortably in my ear, it just keeps falling out. Iv'e tried different wing sizes but still a no go. Anyone else find the same problem?

    • +1

Have you tried them with the Comply tips?

      • +1

yep. Comply tip works better but not as effective in terms of noise isolation. It's the 'wing' that really makes it uncomfortable after wearing it for 2 hours.

  • Any opinion on these compared to the new bose soundsport wireless? Wondering if it's worth the extra money.

    • If you are planning to drop $200 on earphones, look into the new Freedoms or wait for X3.

      • Happy to drop money on good quality gear, my Shure SE535's are still going strong :). But Blutooth would be amazing (wink wink nudge nudge 'shure').

  • It's a good deal, but so you know, the next upgrade, X3, is due any day now. They will be slimmer to address helmet/hat issue (a big deal when you ryde a bike, etc) and have a hardwired equalizer programmable from a smartphone app.

Read in a few articles that the X3 is not due out till September so I bought the Soundsport Wireless to accompany me on my imaginary 10k run

    Great deal! Thanks
    Here is some shopping tips

    1) Normal credit card (e.g. AE) exchange rate is around 1.601945 which is higher than the normal online exchange rate 1.3273
So a Jaybird X2 Midnight Black USD$88.65 ($79.99 + $8.66) will become AUD$142.01 approx. instead of AUD$118 quoted in title

    2) They charge different shipping for different model. Here is an example.
    $79.99 + $8.66 Midnight Black
    $79.99 + $7.35 Alpha
    $79.99 + $9.74 Charge
    $79.99 + $6.91 Ice

    3) You get USD$5 for each person you've invited via the Phone app. I knew it after downloaded the app to check my order!

    4) Deal ends today around 5pm.

    5) It will arrive by next Tue the latest if purchase today.

    • Wow didnt know Colour changes the Shipping Price! +1

  • +1

I bought it and used Prime and paid 121 AUD total

    • Did you pay by credit card? I'm wondering how come your rate is lower than mine :)

      • +1

28degrees card is near cash rate

        • Thanks heaps!

  • Might be able to get a few $ off if you buy in USD with a fee free CC as the spread on amazon is usually a bit larger than what visa/MC offers.

  • Seems expensive but I need something similar.

Can someone talk me into this

I've gone through 2 pairs of x1's over 3 years (lost first pair then my dog chewed up my last pair). I used them every day for 2-3hours at a time and they perform without fault. The 2nd pair went for 2 years and I still hadn't noticed any drop in its battery life.

I can't fault them but at the same time I never exercised with them and people do say that they aren't as sweat proof as it claims.

      • I went through 5 bluebuds X (the model before the X2) - all broke due to sweat. By the time the last BlueBuds X broke, Jaybird were not manufacturing them - so instead they sent me a X2 as a replacement.

Note I wore the BlueBuds over-ear, so the strap and battery/mic component sat flush right against my head. I suspect that's how the sweat affected the unit. I suspect things may have been different if I wore them under ear (which I chose not to, because I wanted a tight fit to my head)

I've not yet broken the X2, but I haven't put them through the same paces (in terms of workout intensity, and thus the sweat volume)

        • What made you buy them again and again if they failed? Genuine question.

        • @bargainhuntaa:

Simple answer is they were replaced under warranty. Some broke after 4 weeks, others 6 or so months. Either way all fell under 12 months warranty.

I could have not bothered persisting with Jaybird, but I didn't find any alternatives that appealed to me. The one differentiating factor - the reason why I stayed with BBX - was the ability to wear over ear, with the wires corded up to hug the back of my head. All other wireless sport bud options that I looked into were worn under ear — which I didn't like, because it would flap around much more vs. the over-ear tight fit with the BBX. I found the tight-fit more comfortable due to nature of my workouts.

        • @devpress: thanks for replying. I might get these for running. Hopefully they are ok.

        • @bargainhuntaa:

I actually have a spare pair of X2 (brand new, unopened in box) which Jaybird sent to me (by mistake). If you're keen happy to sell these. I think white or black from memory. Let me know if you're keen

        • @devpress:

I might be interested. PM me?

        • Hi,

I have the jaybird bluebuds x too and have the same problem. But mine is out of warranty period. But jaybird i believe, offers life time warranty for sweat damage.

So how did you claim the sweat damaged lifetime warranty? Is there an authorised center of jaybird in Australia where i get it replaced?

i have my reciept, box and everything that comes along it. Just need to know whom should i get in touch with for sweat damage lifetime warranty claim. Please let me know.
          Thanks

@Rsg: I got a pair of these coming but now I'm worried. I purchased the Plantronics BB fit from telstra for $120 and while the lack of in-ear bothers me at times, im kinda glad I got them. Water/sweat wise they seem to standup to the task, one guy claiming they're waterproof even though plantronics makes no such claim. Virtually impossible to make them fall out as they hang over the ears but not ideal if you're walking and lots of cars zooming by. Mind you this traffic was even putting my QC35s (supposedly the BEST noise cancellation cans out there) to task.

I was originally waiting for the X3s to come out but looks like they've been delayed as they were suppose to be out 3 months ago (they were announced in January)

        • +1

          @Rsg:

I don't believe that is the case. According to their website, the warranty against perspiration is 12 months. Also, the device needs to be purchased from Jaybird directly or from an authorised dealer. See http://www.jaybirdsport.com/warranty/

Having said that, there are actually references on the product pages to lifetime warranty for protection against sweat damage.

I suggest you go to the Jaybird website and use live chat to speak to one of their people and enquire about their sweat warranty policy as a "potential customer". By the way, you speak to the same people to kick off the RMA process.

          HTH

        • @BargainKen:

If you dont' mind then my suggestion is to wear the X2s under ear - rather than the tight fitting over ear - as that way the control module sits further away from your head, thus reducing the chance that sweat will drip into the module. Also, always give it a good wipe when you finish your workout.

        • @devpress: Why are they rated for sweatproof if they cant handle the heat (so to speak) ? the BBFIT are cheaper and seem more upto the task. Wouldnt think it be all that hard to make the inline control/mic a little more rugged.. I'll try to be careful with the jays (i only hear good things about them)

        • @BargainKen:
Because they can? Or maybe I'm one of the few that perspires far more than normal? Either way I certainly was disappointed when one kept breaking after the other.

Your mileage may vary. I suggest you try both styles of fitting, and if you end up liking the tighter, over-ear fit, then don't be afraid to wear it that way. The worst thing that can happen is that it ends up defective due to sweat, and you end up holding Jaybird to honor their lifetime warranty on sweat damage.

        • @devpress: thanks for the info mate.. well i did that and its more than 24 hrs they haven't replied back!

It's kind of ambiguous or shall i say misleading to mention lifetime warranty against sweat but only valid 12 months of the warranty period, isn't it? I have the email from Jaybird when i registered for lifetime warranty against sweat which says…

"Your Lifetime Warranty Against Sweat covers you for the expected life of your product. The expected life of a typical lithium-ion rechargeable battery is 2-3 years. Of course, the full 1 year Limited Warranty also applies for any malfunction or defect in any product."

Expected life of the product is warranty period or life of Li-Ion battery 2-3 years?? I believe Jaybird should honor at least 2-3 yrs lifetime warranty against sweat. Lets see what they reply with! Will keep posting it here.
