Was doing my research before getting a Bose speakers (Soundtouch 20) for awhile and stumble upon the forum that the new soundtouch series no longer support Airplay.

  • BUY OTHER SOUND EQUIPMENT

    • nice… have you use them before? would they be reliable to ship to Adelaide?

      • Yes very reputable and have some reps in here.

Or you could price match at Myer Adelaide, or order in from a Myer or JB-Hifi store.

  • Great post OP.

Further to your post there is a free SoundTouch 20 Sound System (valued by Bose at $499) up for grabs if you buy the Lifestyle® SoundTouch® 535 home theatre system (from $3,999.00), Lifestyle® SoundTouch® 525 home entertainment system, Lifestyle® SoundTouch® 235 home entertainment system and Lifestyle® SoundTouch® 135 home entertainment system.

    • Do you see any real value in the Lifestyle controller where there is a cut down version? i.e. 135 vs 130 I'm struggling to see any.

  • Short answer LoopyLou, I'd say it depends on what you're using the sound system with.

"The Lifestyle 135 series III has some different features and inputs. The Lifestyle 135 III has a universal RF remote control that will work through walls along with an AM-FM tuner built in. The Lifestyle has HDMI ports like the SoundTouch 130 but also has two additional channels of analog inputs for component and composite video connections. The Lifestyle model also has a larger sub-woofer compared to the SoundTouch 130. The Soundbar speaker uses the same speaker configuration but connection cables are different.

The SoundTouch 130 model has a universal IR remote control, smaller wireless sub-woofer, it only has a power cord and does not need to connect to the console with a wire. The SoundTouch 130 uses all HDMI inputs no component or composite connections for video and does not have an AM-FM tuner. Another difference is the SoundTouch 130 comes with the SoundTouch wifi music adapter and the Lifestyle 135 III does not have that adapter packaged with the system. You can purchase the SoundTouch adapter separately for the Lifestyle 135 III if you wanted to add that feature.

The SoundTouch 130 does have a few other features the Lifestyle 135 III does not. You can pass 4K video through a SoundTouch 130 and it also has CEC remote control through HDMI cables which the Lifestyle system does not offer.

Both consoles give you great control over your sound with adjustable user settings and our audio calibration. We have released a new version, the Lifestyle SoundTouch 135 which replaced the Lifestyle 135 III and is now packaged with the SoundTouch adapter. If you have a Bose retail store near you I would recommend stopping in and listening to the systems to hear which one would meets your needs best."

  • Im thinking to get the SoundTouch 130. does anyone here has one? I like the simplicity of setting up and less wires. I like the surround sound of it too when I first heard in the shop. I do realise the price is really steep so hence i wish to hear from anyone here with ST 130 and super happy with it :P

I don't have it but I've done a lot of listening and comparisons I'm almost certainly going to get one at some point.

For watching movies I very highly recommend. The processing and use of reflections in the room is quite amazing. The surround is actually better than 5.1 as the sound surrounds you rather than coming from 5 distinct point sources.

For music use where you want accurate sound from a single point on the wall I would lean slightly more toward Sonos, Denon, Yamaha.

Sony are a nice balance if you want to spend a bit less.

Many of the better ones are not wall mountable, which is curious for a sound bar, but because of the larger/better drivers involved.

      • Thanks loopylou or the insights. I doubt i will regret getting it:)
