$200 gives you a good spec phone, why buy this???

    • -1

$35 gives you a decent basic phone. $200 gets you a Octa core, 3g ram, fingerprint unlockable, dual sim, 5.5 inch FHD beast. Lol. Yet ppl still up vote this deal.

I don't think it much of a deal either, but not because of the reason you stated. What $200 phone can you buy locally with 24 months warranty that offer those specs?

The iPod touch 5 came out in 2012, and are based now on 5+ year old tech. In 2012 I'm pretty sure the 32 gb model was around $250 and the 64 around $300. In 2013 Apple released a 16gb variant too which was sold around the $200 mark, but often could be picked up a lot cheaper. In 2016 if you really want an iPod touch, then the current generation (which is more like a shrunken down iPhone 6) is much better deal than this in the long run.

If you prefer to pay double the price just for warranty then no point we have any discussion.

FYI, a $35 Optus Pixie has all you need and more.

Old 5th generation and won't be updated to iOS 10.

  • pokemon go on this?

    • Not compatible according to appstore.

      • +2

Thats weird as I have a 5th gen and 6th gen ipod touch that can bothe get the app.

        • Does it work on the 5th gen? I keep getting no GPS found

        • @chromium: I normally get that when connected to a Wifi Modem, but it does work most of the time for me. The app is incredibly buggy so don't stress on that aspect, I tether my phone as a gps for my ipod and as long as you have a good signal, it is fine on iPod.

        • Maybe the developers state it won't work to be on the safe side. Especially with future updates and move to iOS 10.

  • Is it worth buying this or not?

These perform poorly on latest OS and apps. Got a 32GB one here. It was ok a couple of years ago when I bought it for my son.

I'd much rather pay around $220 for a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. It'll blow this away

    • Agree with this.

Have been using the xiaomi note 3 pro for a few months and recently played with the iPod.
the iPod feels one class slower.

    • +4

Does the redmi run iOS …….people buy apple for the ecosystem not hardware bangs per buck I have Android and iOS.

      • -2

This is the exact mentality Apple wants.

    • So guessing you can connect it to Apple Store and load up all your apple apps and music etc. otherwise you wouldn't off posted it?

      • -1

Not being able to connect to the apple store or having to use iTunes is a blessing.
I never bought drm music so it's not an issue. Performance is too slow to be useful these days, which was my main point.

        • +1

You dont need to connect to iTunes anymore, but most android users wont know that because facts ruin a good argument ;)

Android uses Google store, unless you installing dodgy applications from Torrents and infecting the rest of the community with malware and viruses via your unsecured phone.

        • @asa79: Android is only less secure if you want it to be. If you don't root or install dodgy .apks from unknown sources you should be fine. Of course i do all those things because I like living on the edge :)

        • @chromium: So you have to use google store

  • Also the cirrus DAC that the iPod use is generally a lot better than what is found in cheaper phones and can do a much better job at driving quality headphones.

  • they're also discounting some of the older ipod nano 7th gens to $149
