Got the TV last night. Here are some quick observations.

      • TV takes about ~35 seconds to power up
      • Interface is fairly slow (running on Android) and feels unresponsive.
      • Tried the Youtube app on the TV, videos wouldn't load well. Could be a network issue, have an Archer D7 set up downstairs (only detected the 2.4ghz wifi). I can watch Youtube okay on my PC, so perhaps wifi connectivity is weak via the TV?
      • Sound is… weak, I've got a sound bar so I knew what I was getting into
      • Screen is great for what it is. Downloaded some 1080p videos to test and I found it to be alright. I'm no videophile so I can't give an in-depth comment on this.
      • I don't game as much lately so can't comment on refresh rates etc.

Any other questions and I'll try to answer as best as I can :)

      • Thank you for the details. I am fine as long as the video quality is great. I have a wired internet connection to the TV point so WiFi issues may not be a problem. Plus I am not a gamer so issues there so 1 step closer to buying this TV now.

Bought it yesterday. The picture is pretty bad - colours are all washed out. To use videophile technical terms it lacks 'steps of gradation'.
Its washout is notably worse than my Samsung 2011 46" LCD tv.
Sound is fine for where I am - I only sit 2 - 3 metres away from it. It is at level 30 out of 100.
Anyway I only bought this as a 'first world excess' tv for my outdoor patio area. If moisture was to wreck it, Soniq would probably never know - 3 year warranty.
I wouldn't buy Soniq again (I should have known better) - I doubt the Viano or Bauhn would have a worse picture, so I would suggest you buy one of those, because at least you can return them if aren't suitable. Can't return with JB HiFi

    • "The picture is pretty bad - colours are all washed out" -> are you referring to the outdoor video quality in your Patio?

      • No, having previously bought a $4900 top of the range Panasonic VT20 plasma in 2010, I would know better than most about picture quality.
If anything, being outside distracts from the picture quality.
There is also a 'halo effect' around images, particularly standard definition.
It would have been nice if they had intelligent frame creation, but can't expect too much at $500

    • I think there are a couple of threads on whirlpool discussing how to best tweak the TV so it shows the best colour?
May as well give it a shot since you can't return it.

      • Got a link to any of those? Struggling to find any.

      • link please.
