A couple questions to under this better

Does Quad mean you have to share with other people? If it is just my partner and I booking (2 people).

Also inside has no window and outside has a window?

    Thanks

    • Hi KissAndLove,

      1) If it's just you and your partner (2 people), then you will need to book a TWIN cabin.

      2) "inside has no window and outside has a window" - correct.

      Thanks.

  • What's the meaning of those cabin codes?

    • +1

Just different grades - usually a combination of higher floors and being close to the middle get the higher prices within the overall category e.g. Ox for Oceanview.

  • Random question - why would a single cabin cost more than double the twin cabin / four times the quad cabin?

    • +2

Usually it's because they've put a discount on the twin/quad to get more people onboard quicker, rather than just fill it up with lots of singles.

Additionally, Much of the cruise lines profit come from the purchase of on-board extras (drinks, premium restaurants, activities, shore excursions). One study in the US indicated that the average passenger spends $us55 a day on average.

So if a single room (usually a double bed) is occupied by a single person, there is a significant opportunity cost to the cruise company (assuming they aim for 100% occupancy), hence the proportionally higher price.

Yes but the average OzBargainer would spend -$5 per day.

Why do P&O give the Australian market such old sh*ty ships, this one was made in 1988.

They can try to polish up the inside though at the end of the day it's still a turd.

I refuse to do a P&O cruise because of this reason they have been doing it forever.

P&O are doing reburbs this year … it happened with Aria and Eden, and I believe the rest of the line up are taking turns.

Sorry to be a party pooper - but these "specials" are always available ALL THE TIME on other cruise sites which I will not help promote … the average price per night, per cabin is about $200 - so either $100 pp/pn twin share, or $50 pp/pn twin share. I wouldn't call this a bargain, and just spam/advertising by the rep … just thought that fellow Ozbargainers should be aware. My 2c.

    If @CruiseAgency had the price at $49 pp/pn on a twin share … then, that's a different story ;)

    • +3

Well, $49 a person per night IS a bargain, you can't find it often at this price.
You're right that P&O set the price and most sites will reflect a similar amount, but that happens all the time on OzBargain.
I Want That Flight give us sales from the airlines that we could find ourselves. Same for Flight Centre.
Good on the rep for posting. It IS a bargain and if they posted here first maybe they deserve your business. Definitely not a neg vote!

I get spammed by P&O every month on $1 deposits and ridiculously cheap cruises fares, but when I read the size 2 font, it's priced at Quad Share. Everyone will get the generic EDM. I get this spam at least every 1-2 months, it's mandatory spam if you have been on a P&O cruise… and mandatory for a real Ozbargainer to subscribe to ;)

I Want That Flight is different, as the fares advertised here are independent from the EDMs from emails received.

Take example the current $850-900 return to LAX + SFO from AirNZ … I am an AirNZ member subscribed to EDMs and I don't even get those emails for those prices, fares, dates or deals …

Neg vote, as I dont want to encourage Reps thinking that this type of 'deal' is something that Ozbargainers would value or appreciate … If i was a 65+ yo lady walking into their store, asking for a quote … then sure … by all means … Bargain $49 for Quad share! haaha

Part of the P&O "Pack n Go" sale. RRP is $799pp quad interior & if you look around you can find some places slightly cheaper than the $780pp.
    For example $776.63pp:

    Always this price

  • +1

i don't think its always this price. usually they are about $50-$100pp/night quad share and cruises departing sydney are more. under $50 per person per night is ok. 16 nights is probably a bit much though.

  • I assume i missed it…? :S
