Yep, flybuys promo over Christmas new year - almost too good to believe…
It wasnt the christmas new year promo. It was a promo that was on offer up until a few weeks ago.
Flight prices are incredibly cheap these days. I'm flying my family back to Scotland in a few months and I paid about $1,600 each on Etihad. Three years ago the cheapest I could find was $3,000 each. We didn't go.
Was a flybuys promo. And the incredible thing was it was booked into the second best fare bucket, which means it cost me heaps less gust miles to upgrade to busniess class, and will earn a decent chunk of miles.
Tried few routes for xmas, no discount at all.
Examples please… I tried a few destinations on different dates and there is no 50% discount available!
Can't find any either, not enough information given either…

I received the same email from Etihad. It says UP to 50%. Travel period from 15th September.
Have tried a few routes, to me it appears that the website doesn't work properly with some error messages and or same prices as before.In my experience with Etihad, the only genuine discount you will get is if you use a valid promo code, and the discounted price shows up with a yellow star next to the price and the actual cash discount amount showing as a $ value on the booking page.
Definitely not 50% OFF but still great prices from a great company!
Great company?? I'm guessing you have never flown in their cattle class with your knees hard up against your body, and wedged in by the seat in front, 'cos their seat pitch is so small.
Once was enough for me. 7½ hours of absolute torture between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur was the first and last time I will ever fly on that abominable airline. Even lowly Air Asia X has better seat pitch, and that's saying something.
I am not a big person, just 178cm and not long legs. Seat width was also awful, couldn't turn anyway to try and sleep.
And half the passengers around me were all jabbering on their mobile phones, while we were taxing, during take off, and up until the finally lost signal, despite being repeatedly told to turn off the phone or put in flight mode. The cabin crew did nothing to enforce the rules.
There is no reason they need to be turned off. Although passengers are meant to pay attention during takeoff to check for smoke or similar =)
you are guessing wrong: 190cm here, no problems with the seats. I have used Etihad 4 times so far(Sydney to Europe). Always excellent service and great prices.Flying again next Monday :)
No 50% deal, been looking at flight with them BNE to CDG over the past 3 weeks and the price difference today is lest than $100!
Still fairly cheap @1287 returnI just have checked and double checked through scyscanner.
Etihad has dropped prices for some destinations, for example Moscow - Melbourne Nov '16 - Jan '17 return dropped on 35% approx. It was 70k RUB, now just 41k RUB. For my parents.
It was expected as it was the same a year ago. Discounts for flights that are going to be in a half year time.

I've checked too and theres nothing cheap about this "50% off sale". Clearly in the UAE theres no watchdog clamping down on misleading sales.
Nopse - No 50% for south-asian routes
Probably liable for prosecution under trade practices legislation, for misleading conduct (the fares) and also for posing as a full service airline.

Probably ok as a normal sale but the wording "50% off all fares" should be removed.
Speaking of Flybuys, i just got an email from them: 20x flybuys points to London (which is min 26028 points) , with fares from $1314 return. Dont know if this is targeted.
Please share how the fly buys offer works. I'm new to this.
Misleading email from Etihad.- therefore misleading post. There is no 50% off on any of these routes. If someone finds it please let me know. For comparisons sake, I paid less than $1250 return to Heathrow next month with Etihad, and this 50% off is advertised from $1325 to London. WTF
