    G930FD + 12 month warranty = grey import phone

Just so people are aware. Compare this with DWI, eGlobal etc

OP - You state the products are imported on behalf of Blue Rabbit HK, who deals with warranty claims? Does the customer send to your Aussie store, or to HK?

      • +9

Eh, got my answer quicker than the Rep:

        http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/warranty

        Seller: Blue Rabbit (HK)

Blue Rabbit (HK) as the seller provides the warranty on all their products, as the majority of electronics manufacturers do not offer an international warranty. To assist Australian customers, Blue Rabbit have enlisted the services of the Brisbane based MyMobile Group repair centre to perform warranty repairs, rather than the need for customers to return products back to their Hong Kong office.

There are 3 warranty options available at time of purchase:

        Standard Free:

        • 12 Months Australia-wide Warranty
        • DOA replacement within the first 48 hours of delivery
        • Repair guarantee: within 30 days, generally 7 days, and replacement phone or store credit offered if unable to repair within guaranteed timeframe
        • Return postage to Brisbane repair centre is at Buyer's expense
        • Free delivery of repaired/replaced devices
        • In the event of a refund, postage costs are not refundable

        Premium $54.95

        • 12 Months Australia-wide Warranty
        • 3 Months Replacement Guarantee (In the event of an approved warranty claim we will replace your device with a brand new one)
        • DOA replacement within the first 96 hours of delivery
        • Repair Guarantee – Within 14 days from when the faulty device is received or a replacement will be issued (Applies after the 3 month period)
        • Repair centres located in most capital cities or return to our Brisbane office
        • Return postage label provided
        • Free delivery of repaired/replaced devices

        Premium Plus $89.95

        • 24 Month Australia-wide Warranty
        • 6 Months Replacement Guarantee (In the event of an approved warranty claim we will replace your device with a brand new one)
        • DOA replacement within the first 96 hours of delivery
        • Repair Guarantee – Within 14 days from when the faulty device is received or a replacement will be issued (Applies after the 6 month period)
        • Repair centres located in most capital cities or return to our Brisbane office
        • Return postage label provided
        • Free delivery of repaired/replaced devices

OMG really. im not buying from these guys ever

        • Extended warranties are somewhat useless. You have quite a big right as a consumer than you know. Read the ACCC website about guarantees and warranties. They don't specify a time in regards to DOA, but it depends on how much the item and the expected lifespan of the device. Definitely not 48 hours of delivery. Warranty can be argued to be 24 months as that's how long contract plans are.

Obviously you will usually need to lodge and raise an issue with ACCC to get a response->eg delaying you a functional phone. But their warranty is bs. Know your rights ozbargainers

Not applicable for grey-imports, and I doubt they ACCC would see it as such, but you're welcome to try! Me, I won't touch a grey-import Samsung due to the warranty issues (other manufacturers have international warranty so its fine)

@Spackbace: thanks for clarifying. Neither would I with grey imports

        • @Spackbace:
Applicable to anything sold in Australia, pretty much, as far as I know.
(not saying I'd buy a gray import, just wrt the potential warranty claims)

Edit: if you actually have to buy directly from HK (I haven't checked) then of course the oz warranty won't apply. But if they get it in for you and you buy it at the shop, then it does. Not sure which one this is, who do you actually pay, and I don't particularly care either to be honest :)

Pretty much says to be careful when buying grey import stuff…

Reading between the lines, no they won't magically offer you a better warranty

  • What is the difference between Aussie stock & HK stock? Is the build quality lower? Is Aussie stock really worth the extra $300? Or do people just not like buying overseas stock because of warranty?

  • The difference is mainly the warranty

Australian stock 24 months warranty through Samsung authorised repair center

Overseas stock 12 months warranty through the seller

the G930F is the Australian model it is also available in overseas stock
the G930FD is the same specs as G930f but dual sim. The 2nd sim is a Hybrid Sim Tray, so you can only use a micro sd card or 2nd sim. The 2nd sim only works off 2g network which for Telstra and optus will close down at start of next year some time

the G930 is the us version
the G9300 is this china version ( snapdragon processor )

    i hope this helps
    kind regards
