Pram: Purple Valco Baby Tri Mode X + Eclipse Bassinet $400 (Save ~$150) @ Pregnancy Babies & Children's Expo [WA + SUNDAY ONLY]

100

Pram + Bassinet for $400 pickup at the pregnancy and babies expo (NOT via the link in the thumbnail).
If you want the pram only it is $350.
Three or four wheel versions of the pram available - no price difference.

The pram alone usually sells $400pp to $550 depending on store.
The eclipse bassinet is around $150 although I'm sure you can get it cheaper on sale.

The pregnancy and babies expo always has free tickets (thanks Roary) although parking is $5 for the Perth expo.

Free ticket links and expo dates:

Perhaps the deal will rotate around Australia, but I can't confirm. Definitely available in WA. Sunday 31st is the last day of the expo though.

BLACK WITH PURPLE HIGHLIGHTS ONLY! The pure black coloured one is not on sale.

This pram was recommended to me initially by another ozbargainer who has done alot of pram research (Thanks Cjarma01). Quick run down:

  • Can buy an addon to make it a double pram
  • Can buy the kickboard for a kid to stand on when older
  • Can clip in a bassinet (there are two types, one is included in the $400 price)
  • Forward facing, although the bassinet is flat so you can have your kid face you in their early days
  • Child can sit upright or be laid very nearly flat without requiring the bassinet
  • Tyres are inflated
  • Easy to fold
  • 10kg (not sure if that's heavy or not). It's a single piece unlike some prams which I think break down into multiple pieces to be lighter but trickier
  • Rear wheels are widely spread according to reviews, so narrow shopping aisles may be a pain

New parents and their money are soon parted…

    • Well duh. If you need a pram…. Buy a pram.

  • We have a valco baby snap 4, 6kg, $300. It's not that model listed above.

Great quality. Better than all other prams we found for weight, ease of folding and under pram storage

Valco need to become better known in this space!!!

    • VeeBee Navigator is a great light and cheap pram as well. Normally around $180.

    • I got the valco zee as part of the toys R us special posted on ozbargain ages ago, very impressed. Also picked up the valco snap duo off Gumtree still in box, also a great pram. Apparently they have good after sales service, but I've never needed it. The recline is great, they go almost flat so great for newborns. We used both prams without a bassinet for newborns, you just need to get an insert so the head is supported - we picked a load up second hand, but there are heaps of different types around (no need to buy a particular brand).

For our first kid someone gave us a pram with a bassinet - worked fine for us at the time. But in retrospect, I wouldn't do it again. They are pretty bulky, and most bassinets don't have seat belts so if the pram tips back or forward the kid will slide about.

Also fold up pretty compact - if you are pushed for space, the wheels come off, which is great.

I think we paid under $200 for the zee, and 350 for the snap duo.

Btw the safety bars across the seats have that foamy stuff that kids love to chew on. Jump on eBay and get some washable covers, cost a couple of bucks for Chinese imports, or about 20 for local hand made. Also buy cheap pram hooks off eBay - work better than the shit sold in the stores here.

TL;DR - great brand, but there are cheaper models around if you look out for sales. Bassinet not required.
