    Original? There are fake ones?

Does this really improve every aspect of my computer's performance?

    • +13

It's true. It improved the resolution of my monitor !!!

    • +9

I had 2GB of RAM before i installed this, i've now got 16GB.

    • I'm going to go against popular opinion here and say for me and my older pc - No. Also the people I know who have installed an SSD and raved that their PC starts up so fast it goes back in time always turns out to only be a few seconds faster.

It's not so much about start up -but for basic browsing, usage - overall performance is much better.

My computer's bootup time significantly improved. For a lot of people, they like to go make a cup of coffee while this happens - so not a big advantage, I get it.

The part where it really improved is day to day usage once the computer was on. Just browsing on the internet, watching youtube videos, typing up a word document - I never see my computer 'hang' for 5 seconds or so anymore. That has been completely eradicated.

Sometimes on my computer when I would open a new tab in chrome, it would take a few seconds and then it would do it. Which I suppose was quite frustrating.

Windows 10 is very power hungry on your computer. You'll notice A LOT of background processes such as windows defender, windows update that are utilising 99% of your disk usage when you press ctrl-alt-delete. Having an SSD makes those processes take up about 20% of your disk usage, and then when you do open a new tab on your internet browser, it suddenly does not have to 'hang' anymore. This makes it feel like a very fast computer.

Even an 8 year old core-2-duo, with an SSD is more than enough performance and will be a much more pleasant computing experience than a new i7 with a standard spinning hard drive.

If you have spare USB port and memory stick, use Windows' built-in ReadyBoost. It caches random writes to HDD and makes random reads many times faster than a HDD alone.
It's free (since Vista) and you might be surprised about how well it works - Windows' Performance Monitor has counters for "ReadyBoost Cache".

I find performance of my computers is much improved by not using Windows.

        • @crc32: If I want to look out our back yard, the view is much improved by using Windows

        • @crc32: your comment would be far more useful if you actually referenced Linux-equivalent of ReadyBoost. Go on, then.

If a SSD does not dramatically improve the performance of your computer something is wrong.

  • Works out to be the same price as MSY (~$79).

    • +3

      Out of stock @ MSY

That said, local prices are under $90

Not sure why you'd bother with EB on this!

      • Wouldn't recommend this size - for $40 extra you can double the storage to a much more useable 250GB

  • I'm more worried about the new 3-dimensional chip design, maybe my older SSD chips are flat?

    • +2

I'm waiting for the new 4-dimensional ones to be released…

      • +3

They just need a little time! ;)

      • If they were going to be released i the future, then we'd already have them. Therefore, they won't be released.

      TL;DR

Samsung's heavy investment on NAND R&D and specifically 3D NAND is really paying off in the 850 Pro. Thanks to the more efficient structure of 3D NAND, Samsung has been able to improve all three main aspects of NAND i.e. performance, endurance and power consumption. It will be very hard for anyone to compete with the 850 Pro as the characteristics of V-NAND are superior compared to 2D NAND. The density is also very competitive against the smallest 2D NAND nodes, meaning that V-NAND should not carry a hefty premium over MLC.

  • I am going to Burn my dollars on this.

Soooo many SSD deals from local retailers, I have no idea why you would purchase from Everbuying.

  • I know this is a decent drive, but it doesn't seem especially cheap. There are slightly slower 240gb drives around for similar prices.

  • +1

I will be honest, I myself bought this Kingston 240GB SSD for the same price. http://www.pclan.com.au/index.php/suv400s37a-240g.html

  • get it for USD$56.59 (~AUD$74.55) by using mobile site (2% discount) and new account to get 100EB points (redeemable for US$2)

Please be warned that everbuying are now almost as bad as banggood and the like.

While they seem to have certain items in stock, most of what they sell is now a scam, they don't have stock of the item and are making money from holding your money while PayPal resolves a dispute when the item fails to arrive in a months time. This seems to be the case with bigger items more so than the small ones.

Steer clear unless you're willing to take a punt and go through the hassel of PayPal disputes for months on end.

    • It's not a scam at all. There is 100% guarantee that if you don't received your Item with in 45 business days. You will get your money refunded. And we have lots of happy Ozbargainers here.

Don't know what's happen with you. Can you please explain what's wrong with your order.
