Terrible time to be buying an Iphone with the 7 out so soon.

    • Clearing out old stock. The 128GB 6s is an excellent phone if you don't mind not having the very latest thing.

      • if you don't mind not having the very latest thing

Even if you own the latest iPhone, you still won't have the latest things.

        • Same with any Android. It's almost like different phones have different advantages and disadvantages.

          @MrMcHairyHead:

Android flagship = Obsolete day after buying it.

iPhone flagship = Obsolete 1 year prior to release.

      • Sure, but this isn't a crazy clearance price.

I initially thought so too, but the rumours are that the 2017 iPhone will have the major changes as it is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.
Therefore the upcoming iPhone7 next month might have relatively minor updates of no headphone jack :( , altered antenna, and maybe a revised Apple watch to slightly sweeten the deal.

What's good about this deal is that after 12months, you can pay Optus $100 to change your phone (if it's still in good cond) to the new one in 2017, so might be useful if someone has an older iPhone 5/5s/6 I think.

      • Interesting point, I wonder if Apple will just release an iPhone 7s instead of an update fitting of its 10th anniversary. That would really cripple their share price.

        • If that were to happen, you probably would be right! Apparently a lot of resources are going towards an Apple car.
Although innovation in phones/tablets seems to be slowing, there's still so many things they can add in, let alone a revised/fresh design. I look at Macrumors every couple days, and it's pretty exciting what they might have in store.

@tailgatinholden: Haha.. i googled macrumours as well right after reading your comment. There's alot of talk about Apple trying to slow the refresh cycle (having said that, they have been essentially on a 2-year refresh cycle since the first iphone).

      • All these upgrade plans make it so uou don't get to keep the phone. In other words you are renting the phone from Optus.

      • The 3.5mm-less iPhone 7 might just be another case of Apple going stretching its laurels too far - think Firewire, Thunderbolt, USB-C….

Cordless earphones, if nothing else, requires charging… I have way too many things that need charging already…. to say nothing of the compromised audio quality, size/weight, and other issues…

        • If they remove the 3.5mm jack they will either provide an adaptor and lightening headphones. If they don't they are idiots!

        • @MrMaxwell: Apple with surely provide adapter but charge as per their normal (read high) price. Remember 32 pin to lightning cable adapter.

    NO DEAL

This offer was available from last month, basically you get the 128GB model for the price of 64GB. Last month both the 64GB and 128GB iPhone 6s Plus were available for $88 month now it has gone upto $93 a month. The iPhone 7 is rumoured to come in 32, 128 and 256GB options, no 64GB option. The iPhone 6s plus will drop in RRP by $100 once the 7 is released and apple will continue to sell only the 64GB model version of iPhone 6s.

At least the iPhone 6s still has a headphone jack :(

  • Having done all types of postpaid & prepaid plans, I don't see the benefit in having a 24mth $88/$93 plan just to get the phone, versus buying it outright from Apple/Kogan/Officeworks/etc with a $30-40 prepaid plan. Even though you are a heavy user, just scale the prepaid plan upwards.

From that perspective, Optus' deal is kinda meh as the price diff outright between the 128GB & 64GB is just a few hundred bucks (depending again who/when you buy it). Or have I got it all wrong? :)

Thanks to the OP for sharing though, good on ya.

The different between the 16GB and 64GB version would be huge.
The different between the 64GB and 128GB version would be little.

after using iPhone for so many years, they don't excite me anymore. Sure they are quality phones and very reliable, but they are absolutely boring

    Android is not better.

Apple would have to come up with something really special for iPhone 7.

    • apple is boring, android is not better. so, what's better choice?

    • Looks like you'll be disappointed then. All rumours/leaks are pointing towards a minor refresh, with slightly redesigned antenna lines, but the removal of the 3.5mm jack. Im waiting for the 2018 iPhone which supposedly has an OLED screen and will be a big anniversary improvement. I completely agree with you though, with iPhones becoming less exciting. Been using iPhones since the 3g, and my favourite of all time was the 5s. Would've upgraded to the SE instead of the 6s if it had been out when my contract expired. The absolute worst thing is that they skimp on the features for the smaller models; and it looks like its gonna continue with the 7.
