Some of us can't afford the higher end stuff and may not need them to begin with.

      • +5

        Still forking out 600 bucks

        • +3

Admittedly it's not for everyone but for those who have been looking for local stock priced below $600, it is a relatively good option.

        • @gnv9:
I know several people who have refused to upgrade because they stopped making 4" phones, however with the iPhone 7 announcement around the corner I feel like its worth waiting .

The only phones that don't get hate on here seem to be chinese droids where you need to spend your entire weekend on xda forums flashing roms before you can use it.

        • +2

@rememberme: Agree. I will be the first to say there are definitely phones that are more worth the money, have far better specs, etc etc. The post was specifically for those looking for an iPhone SE 16GB (as I was), as the price for local stock hasn't been this low since release. Well, not that I have seen anyway. Wasn't trying to promote the item or anything even close to that. I personally look for deals that are for me and if they aren't and I have nothing to contribute to the post, I just move on, but I guess everyone's different.

If you seriously cant handle a phone with 16gb, you really need to re-evaluate your life.

16gb is fine for average users and as an entry level phone. My parents wanted smart phones and they sure as hell would never use 16gb of storage, or 11gb after OS install. Gonna be hard telling them they need to "re-evaluate" their life over a phone…

Not everyone needs to keep 3 years worth of music or half a dozen HD blue ray movie rips on their phone. Nothing I like more than watching movies on a 4" screen for 17 hours on a flight to the US. Gotta make sure i got enough gigz!

      INB4: "I only listen to FLAC" and "I only film in 4K" and "I only watch h.234 10bit HD 4K 3D in Dolby 7.1 on my phone…"

      • +7

even without adding any music or movies, taking photos and videos eats away at storage space pretty quickly. app are ballooning sizes despite careful selection of which apps to install lol

inflammatory comments about people's choice of storage option are pure juvenile. but hey, that's tuzii's special talent

      • The issue with my parentals having less than 16GB storage is they always seem to use it up while playing games like Candy Crush or similar and for taking video's and photo's. Sure its sufficient enough to use for whatsapp or equivalent however its more of a convenience and knowing phones that can do the same thing for less and for more memory beggars belief why anyone would get 16GB IPhone nowadays.

They know jack about backing up let alone transferring so it's just more logical for me to get them minimum 32GB phone.

Heck even upgrading to new iOS needs sufficient amount of space these days and good portion of people who have 16GB iPhone need to offload content before it can continue..

        • iPhones don't need much space for updating if physically connected to iTunes.

      • +2

A $600 entry level phone? No thanks.

      • There's a wide range of excellent phones around the $300 mark if you come here regularly.

      • +2

Hmmm, with 16gb you'd have to clear out a hell of a lot of stuff just to do a iOS update… haha

When Google specifically targets you with an advert during the Olympics you have no argument.

    • Yeah, 16G won't get you far these days.

  • +8

Wow the SE would actually make me considering moving from android to apple, the 4" screen size is cool!

    • Sony Xperia Z5 Compact ? Even a Z3 compact would be a better buy.

    • +4

Made the move from S3 to 5s. Actually happy and that "one hand use without slipping" design is working well for me. Also 2 years on iOS (from 7 to 9) still feel snappy and fast on 5s. Unlike S3 which was laggy after only a year. This SE is definitely more capable than my 5s in most if not all aspects.

Downside so far is iTunes is not my thing and I really miss the drag and drop in android platform.

      • +2

There are some apps on Apple Store that you can use to bypass the iTunes. They allow you to do file transfer via the Wifi network in your home.

      • Sony's roms are usually lightweight compared to Samsung's, Sony is basically stock android (AOSP). Samsung's decided to put Touchwiz which was a fat piece of bloat back then, Touchwiz didn't improve until the S6. You can't compare the android device ecosystem against Apple's iPhone/iOS ecosystem. For every phone Apple releases there is an equivalent flagship phone made by Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC, Moto, Huawei and Xiaomi who each have their own flavour of Android.

Good to know. I'll make sure to run all my tech purchases past you for your approval in the future

    • +2

Can I ask you to elaborate on your comment? Interested on your perspective, what would be the cost effective phones you would recommend?

    • +1

Me and Michael just here for the comments. Did not disappoint :)

  • was looking for a silver 64GB - out of luck…

  • +1

Thanks, OP! After putting up with my geriatric iPhone 4 for what seems like an eternity, I just bought a rose gold 64GB SE. Can't wait to update all my apps! :p

    • +7

You're welcome! I didn't post for the 64GB coz I have only been watching prices for the 16GB, so wasn't sure whether it'd be a good price (I had the sneaky suspicion that people who were looking for the 64GB would do a search anyway).

  • +2

Amazing! Was gonna get one off the apple website yesterday but thought I'd hold off for some possible am ozbargain deals.

Got a 64gb rose gold for $730 and $660 after trs! What a great price!

    Thanks op!

    • +2

      Pleasure!

Thanks! You got my first upvote after lurking for years :)

Very nice to hear (esp after the initial bashing!). Glad it was a good deal for you :)

Lol at the Apple fanboys downvoting everyone in this thread. You don't need to listen to reason but don't downvote other comments to the point where an uninformed buyer will think that buying this phone in 2016 is a good idea.

    • I'm a simple man that needs a nice phone for a nice price. I dont push my mobile phone to the limit and dont need the latest megapixel for my selfies.
Is this a bargain that will hold its price for the near future?

      • idk man.

Apple's product cycles are getting shorter and shorter. That said Apple products do seem to retain value better than Androids.

      • If you're already in he Apple ecosystem it might be cheaper to stay (re buying all your apps etc) however if yu just want a good phone at a fair price you should avoid Apple. The iPhone7 is supposed to release in a month r so and they're still trying too charge big for gimped devices like the SE.

        • Thanks for the informative reply mate, didn't know there's a new one coming out soon!

    • +6

I haven't been down-voting, but I think the majority of those voters are likely responding to the obnoxious tone of some comments.

      • -1

Well mine just got downvoted. This place is worse than reddit for facts, if people don't agree. Away it goes.

        • +2

          Well statements like

don't downvote other comments to the point where an uninformed buyer will think that buying this phone in 2016 is a good idea

aren't really based on fact, y'know?

        • -2

          @veritas_mendax:

New iPhone just around the corner, no mention of it here. This is ozbargain, we're supposed to help one another get a bargain. Apple products will never be a bargain, you're paying premium for lower spec hardware. The only thing iPhones have going for them is their SOC. Samsung manufacture just about everything going into the phone. If you care about "build quality" or "performance" you'd be better off buying a Samsung.

I'd expect to see this debate in the comment sections if I was tempted to buy something I wasn't as educated on, It helps to have a for and against argument in here.

    • informed and astute consumers don't take trollish comments seriously anyway, no matter how many upvotes/downvotes it has.

    • +2

Why is it not a good idea? It's the latest Apple hardware in a 4" screen. Most people don't need 8 cores and 10GB of RAM in their phone. Also people prefer Apple products because of their customer service and updates direct from Apple as soon as they are released. You can go to any Apple Store for a two year warranty and get your phone either replaced or repaired on the day if there is anything wrong.

People don't just buy things for "the specs".

  • Is this Apple Warranty or seller Warranty?

    • Australian stock, so Apple warranty.

      • Thanks Antler

    Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920i, 3GB RAM, Octa-Core,64GB) - Gold
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-S6-SM-G920i-3GB-RA…

Best Price that I have seen for 64gb

    Also 128gb is good deal

Queue the 16GB is not enough comment … oh i'm too late…

      17GB would be nice though…

      • Having said that 64GB is nice :P

I may have a defective phone but i bought one of these two weeks ago and the battery usage is extremely high to me. Almost %10 per hour on idle. Anyone facing the same issue on the ios 9.3.3?

    • Have you tried a factory reset / install from DFU mode?

  • Would of grabbed this if i hadn't of picked up a new sealed 6S off Gumtree for $450 last Friday, 16Gb works for me at that price :)

    • Mmm hot phones.

      • Nope, someone upgraded their contract and didn't want the new phone, kept her old one. Have had a few scores off GT, a new Note 5 for $600 not long after release, a 4 month old 6S 16gb plus for $500, sold for $740.

  • It's funny how people complaint iPhones are dead expensive, yet all of these iphone deals in Ozbargain have over 20+ votes.

    • +1

I find they're worth the price. iMessage and FaceTime are great for keeping in contact with family abroad. iPhones also don't depreciate in value much and they're usually very reliable. Used to be an android user but I can't go back now.

      • -2

Hangouts? Allo & Duo just around the corner. The only reason they don't depreciate in value is because people pay too much for them so they're not willing to let them go cheaply.

      • I get what you mean :).

I was ios user for 5 years going to Android was a painful experience, but due to money constraint………………no choice………..

    • People are saying iPhone is expensive base on its lower manufacture cost/Spec compare to other android flagship.

However, iOS, durability and after sale service adds value to the product as well as cost.

    • They are different people…

  • Will they supply me with a tax invoice?

  • Great price for iPhone.

  • remember when we didn't need an iPhone?
