Apple MacBook 512GB 1.2GHz 2015 $1699 + Postage or C&C @ Officeworks

Might be good for someone who would rather the bigger storage and tiny bit more speed than the deal posted on the 256GB models. Might even be good for people who are looking at the 2016 256GB models? All colours available but link is for Space Grey.
Only delivery or C&C in WA, same / next available though depending on postcode shipping was just over a fiver for next day to 6169.

Well, this is your lucky day. On sale for $1699…now are you interested?

$200? Well done. Is it one of those white ones circa 2011?

      • Even those are selling on ebay for more than 200

      • Mid 2010, 4GB

Just need to find a cheap SSD

        • +2

          And RAM
And shortly a new logic board

        • @jackary:

          It works great…

        • @jv: Because you have no reference point. El Capitan with 4GB ram and a hard drive is painful. It just is.

          @jackary:

Yep, a bit slow but works fine.

Can't complain for $200 though. Pretty sure an SSD will make a noticeable difference like it did on my old PC.

Bought one yesterday, hoping the click and collect is ASAP, very excited
    Great price

    • Yeah C&C shows 2 business days. I hate paying for delivery but it was reasonable for next day and going to the store would be a 50km round trip for me.

      • +1

Turns out mine is already ready for pickup a 5 minute walk from work, essentially 1 business day! Cheering :)

  • Is this the 2016 version or the 2015 ?
If 2016 then I should surely buy

    • It's the 2015 one.

      • Thanks

        • 2016 is just the 2015 with more RAM as standard. Same chips, same speeds, same everything.

EDIT: Whoops, i thought this was the MacBook Air. My bad. Carry on.

What is the 5th word of the title?

      • I should have kept my eyes open :)

  • what are the differences between 2015 and 2016 model?

    • +1

      Newer Core M.

      • so mainly just a slight speed difference?

        • +2

I haven't used the 2016 model enough to say personally but apparently it's quite a lot faster in everyday use. Benchmarks!

  • Why not buy Lenovo Yoga 3 pro for similar specs for just half of this price?

OSX (sorry macOS soon) and to never have to touch windows again (crosses fingers)

      • -7

Osx is not suit for most office jobs. Most software only has windows version. I believe lots of guys still install and run windows on the macbook.

The good point of the windows laptop with touch screen is that you could install and run android os on it.

        • Totally not true. Almost all enterprise grade software can run on windows and mac.

          @btst7000:
Hmm… Not for Visio which I need for my work. So I have to use a Windows VM on my mac..

Never can run away from Windows until Visio is available on Mac

The Macbook is also fanless, which is a nice thing.

        • But is it really?

        • @ATangk: it is if you like downthrottling

        • @tony abbott:
I heard you could flip one over and fry an egg for breakfast.

    • Better hardware, MacOS and amazing support. I've had to deal with Lenovo laptops in a previous IT job and I wouldn't touch it (even if I were after a PC/Windows laptop).

    • Because the trackpad on the Yoga 3 pro isn't half what it is on the MacBook, for one example. Also the Lenovo website states they no longer sell the Yoga 3 Pro at all.

Also not having to worry about Superfish. I would never buy a Lenovo product just because of that.

A bit painful to take on a backpacking holiday through Europe tho. :-)

      • +2

        That's one well-financed backpacker!

        • +3

What do you think backpack is for? Macbook + Ipad + Ipad mini + Iphone and iWatch.

    • and if my life revolved around playing games on my computer I'd probably join you…fortunately it doesn't

    • +3

Says the dude who has never actually used a Mac. It's not all a numbers game.

    • "This deal is bad. I'm not in the market for a laptop computer, I'm looking for a refrigerator. Therefore nobody should buy this!" - You.

    all fckn sold out!!!!!!

    • Still showing good for WA

  • Everyone is trying to get rid of their old macbooks, I was looking at getting a bargain for myself and got one from ebay for like 400 bucks cheaper than RRP. There are like the latest gen 15 inch macbook pro with 256gb being sold for like 2.8k, although I got mine from the super discount last week for 2.7K. Not bad at all if you guys can't get this deal here.

  • I had this model on release for 4 months as my sole computer, i found it slow, wifi weak, lid is wobbly when open, have had 13" and 15" MBPr and iMacs and this one was the only one i didn't like, sold it for a 15" MBPr.

  • The 2016 model is a step up - Whilst the 2015 models are a good price, I think the 2016 model is worth the bit extra if you are planning on using it for a while.

Or grab the 2015 model cheap now, sell next year when 2017 model comes out and buy 2016 model when discounted.
