Not that anyone would pay $60++ to get them from the US, when they're $38 at HN:

    LOOSEY GOOSEY

  • So how long does battery last in one of these? Does it have to be paired all the time or just when you need to ring it? What kind of battery does it use? Is it rechargable?

    • The battery lasts a year but is not rechargeable/replaceable. You can contact us for a replacement and we can give you a discount on a new one when it dies. Thanks for your interest.

1 year - then you have to buy a new one at the same price - they are useless here in Australia - no one uses the app making it impossible to find anything lost … WOFTAM in my opinion

      • I have had this going since Christmas and I've received notifications stating that I've found something someone has lost about 5 or 6 times. And it helps find my keys when they fall down the side of the couch, or I put them somewhere stupid.

  • Can it be located anywhere in the world ?

Does it receive GPS signal and send its location via mobile data to the monitoring mobile ?

Device's battery with this functionalities will only last for 1 to 2 days. How does it last for a year ?

    • Bluetooth. Similar device is the 'Trackr' (https://www.thetrackr.com/). Relies on other users out there with the app seeing your device signal to provide location info. If no-one is nearby who also has the app loaded on their 'phone then it won't help.

    • Bluetooth only - only locatable if others have the app running (unlikely here in AUS) no GPS

    • I also stock the TrackR and will be doing a deal on that as well.
This one also has a replaceable battery (one of the circular batteries for watches etc) and comes in 4 colours. Keep an eye out for that one.
Also - you would be surprised by how many people have the Tile App in Australia, especially if you live in metropolitan areas.

  • I used to own two of these. Some information which may be helpful

    • it's not a GPS device, it connects to your phone via bluetooth which i think sends a pulse every so often to check that it is there. If the Tile goes missing, all it does it report the last time and place it pulsed. Great for keys and bags, but highly unlikely to help if you want to attach it to a pet seeing as they will move around. Also wont help if you lose your keys and someone picks them up.

    • I dont know if things have changed since i owned one, but it is a one way locator (i.e. you cant use the Tile to locate your phone). I've since moved onto a Chinese made copy which allows for two way locating (i can use my phone to find my keys and vice versa). The Chinese copy also uses replaceable batteries.

    • Given that the battery is unable to be replaced, it's better to think of it as a yearly subscription. This is probably the main reason i stopped using it.

It certainly is a handy device tho, i used it countless times to find misplaced keys around the house.

I got 2 of these for Christmas, they do 2 way locating.

    • Link?

  • hey rep you forgot to update your about-us page and also half of the links on your website.

    • Thanks - still have to work to do on this

I looked at these when they were on Kickstarter. They were an interesting idea, but that is where it stopped. Like other users have said above, it relies on crowd support for it to actually work. It's one way communication. It is non-serviceable in nature and does nothing else. Trackr is a better product because at least you can change the battery, but like spo22a said above, there are Chinese two way devices that do more and are cheaper. Do not rely on the "tile" app and community in Australia, it just isn't big enough or marketed enough here to be of any real use.

And really, no battery replacement. Who thought that was a good idea? Buy 4 or 5 of these for your stuff and in 12 months you need to replace all of them? No thank you…

Alternative with replaceable battery and two way function plus flashing light and sound for about $13 posted is the Nut Bluetooth tracker. Uses the similar crowd app principle, but the device is cheaper and has more functions and doesn't need to be replaced for the sake of a battery…
