Has any one had any experience return faulty goods to Amazon?

    • Mostly positive comments on Ozbargain. Based on comments I've seen, Amazon covers the return shipping if the item is under warranty.

    • +2

On a non-electronics item I bought they were very good.

But it does say on these that it's only a 30 day refund/replacement, basically seems to only cover DOA.

      • i have contact amazon rep. Amazon offer 30 day return without question ask, and 1 time exemption to replace faulty item within warranty period. Both of these postage is gonna pay by Amazon, after that buyer have to pay for the postage to claim warranty from Amazon.

      • +2

You've obviously never dealt with Amazon before..

        • -5

Never bought electronic, but I ve read their warranty policy, not satisfied honestly.

        • +4

@Ciccillo: Then to be perfectly honest, you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

        • +1

@Porthos: Waiting to hear your experience…
And so i cannot express an opinion?Really?

        • +3

@Ciccillo: You're passing your 'opinion' off as fact about Amazon, when you've never even dealt with them before, all on what you think happens.

          You're wrong, deadset wrong.

My experience with Amazon with regards to customer service (as well as a warranty claim) would put 99% of Australian retailers to shame.

          Warning people off using Amazon:

"Try to imagine if you have a problem.Pack the card again, send it back(if you are under the Amazon warranty) and waiting for Amazon checks and send it to you again. So you will spend weeks try to sort your problem out.And you already spent $600"

just shows you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

        • -6

@Porthos: We are still waiting for your experience…

        • +2

@Ciccillo: Read what I wrote again then.

        • -1

@Porthos: jekng wrote:'Has any one had any experience return faulty goods to Amazon?'
And i answered 'i would suggest..'
You answered:'My experience with Amazon with regards to customer service ..',so looks like you are stating about something you have no experience.Looks like you just defend Amazon for feeling. We are still waiting for your experience…

        • -1

@Porthos: Waiting for your experience…name of card or electronic device, how did you claim it,how long you waited for..nothing?!?

        • +2

          @Ciccillo:

If you'd like to hear my experience:

I had ordered an HDMI Switcher from Amazon. I still hadn't received the item 4 weeks later (tracking hadn't updated for 3 weeks).

I spoke to an Amazon rep, and after giving them the order number, no questions asked they sent me another straight away.

A day after talking to the Amazon rep, I received my original order. I got back onto the rep to cancel the new replacement, but he said not to worry. I could keep both items (when the 2nd came) - he apologised again for the delay, and thanked me for using amazon.

Pretty amazing service if you ask me. Especially considering the fault was with Australia Post.

        • -3

@CharcoaI: Great! So totally off topic!jekng wrote 'Has any one had any experience return faulty goods to Amazon?'
I wrote 'i would suggest…' was a suggestion..you are stating something totally different just because you have good feeling with amazon.

        • @Ciccillo: I swear you're just trolling now.

Ordered 2x Toshiba 3.5-Inch 3TB 7200 RPM SATA3/SATA 6.0 GB/s 64MB Hard Drive DT01ACA300 (that enough detail for you?) one started to develop some bad sectors, talked to Amazon rep, sent a screenshot of the smart readout from my NAS from it.

Amazon then sent me a brand new drive without question which I received within 2 weeks, then I sent back the original drive which they paid postage for.

So I was 2 weeks with a drive that was starting to fail, Amazon sent a new drive without me sending the old one back at all. So that experience alone completely blows your complete lack of experience with them out of the water.

Do a quick search on these forums, you'll find many, many stories with regards to awesome service dealing with Amazon.

        • -1

@Porthos: 2 weeks..so was under Amazon warranty that would be 30 days…Him is asking after the 30 days.So have you no clue about the warranty after 30 days?

        • @Ciccillo: No.

I said it took 2 weeks to arrive once I talked to the Amazon rep about the problem (to prove you wrong when you claimed that you'd have to send the defective product back before you get anything in return from Amazon).

The drive was nearly a year old at that stage.

        • +1

@Ciccillo: Or you could be wrong…

Amazon support is the same regardless of what the issue is.

      • +1

Two people JUST posted their personal experiences, and because you disagree, you posted another response?

I've also had a positive warranty experience with Amazon, with a failed SSD that was almost a year old. Their customer service is absolutely brilliant.

You have literally no personal interest in talking people out of these products, so why try to discredit what other people are saying with your own complete lack of experience on the topic?

        • -5

jekng wrote:'Has any one had any experience return faulty goods to Amazon?'
I do not need add more..

        • +1

@Ciccillo: I've had a positive experience. Two people above have had a positive experience too, and you summarised their comments with "no one have [sic] a personal warranty experience here". What sort of response do you want?

        • -2

@AlexD: Come on…the question was clear. The two people you are talking about..the first one was something regarding the late shipment,NO FAULTY GOODS,the second one was suspicious because after a lot of requesting him finally came up with something weird(change the harddrive after one year by Amazon?).I am trying to doing a fair service here.Jekng was crystal!
'Has any one had any experience return faulty goods to Amazon?'
          Just say NO.

        • +2

@Ciccillo: I had almost exactly the same experience as Porthos. Mine stopped working completely, though, a new one was shipped out in less than two weeks, and Amazon paid return postage on the faulty drive, which I returned after the new one arrived.
There was no long turn around, and my experience was practically identical to those shared. Regardless, look up other Amazon deals on OzBargain, and look at the positive comments other users make.
I really don't know why you're trying to convince people not to get this card/buy off Amazon when you have no experience whatsoever in the matter. It's unhelpful and semi-offensive, especially considering how informed you are.

        • -5

@AlexD: Regarding the offensive i just want you see the comment unplished..you are talking about the wrong person.
I do not want convince because i said 'i would suggest',suggestion..should i really talking about that?
The Amazon policy is clear..i posted here,so i will post again for you:

          International Warranty

Items listed at Amazon.com are really intended for the US market. Thus, most manufacturer warranties cover only items shipped in the USA. Nevertheless, you’ll find products at Amazon.com that includes International Warranty. We advise that you select these products over those with limited warranty. In the event that your item has International Warranty, you now have to find for accredited service centers in Australia that shall repair your item should it be defective.

Another thing, take note of the manual, product descriptions and safety warnings of the product. These documents may be in a language other than English or that the manuals and warnings may not apply in Australia. Also, it is your responsibility to make sure that the goods you are purchasing can lawfully be imported to Australia.

Finally, do note that using freight forwarders or hand-carrying items overseas may avoid your International Warranty.

So,you like Amazon, great,i am happy you do.As i said i do not like their international policy.
Them will not cover you graphic card but you have to figure it out with your local distributor(as them state) the one will tell you :'We sell to Australia local dealer, why do you want the warranty if you bought it overseas?'
That works with smartphone, electronic in general.
That are facts why do we want cover up?

        • +2

@Ciccillo: jekng didn't ask for the Amazon's policy, they asked for personal experience. You have no personal experience in the matter and you completely disregarded other peoples' comments when they have experience.

I, too, am aware of what Amazon's policy is, but when others comment relevantly, and you open a new response thread saying that no one has a personal experience, it's dismissive and rude. There was literally no reason to dismiss others' experiences because they disagreed with your relatively off-topic opinion based on policy.

        • -3

@AlexD: Kindly i just want remember you the unpublished comment was not mine.
Jekng did not ask for your personal experience him asked for'Has any one had any experience return faulty goods to Amazon?'how many times i have to copy and paste?
As i stated..i have no experience regarding Amazon electronic fault, that s why i said 'i would suggest..'copy and paste it again…
All the rest is just arguing, most of them useless honestly.I reported the policy, that s the reality.

        • +1

          @Ciccillo:

second one was suspicious because after a lot of requesting him finally came up with something weird(change the harddrive after one year by Amazon?)

Oh yes, having a hard drive fail within a year and having it replaced under warranty really is 'weird' isn't it? I just couldn't be bothered giving you a play-by-play of what had happened with regards to the warranty claim, and seems I was right to not bother as you're completely dismissive of any one's actual experience and keep crapping on nonsense.

You've been proven wrong, just admit it and move on there. Your barely coherent posts are just showing you're grasping at straws and not even remotely seeming to understand their return policy.

(Hint - the part you're referring to about using freight forwarders is with products that won't ship here, so of course Amazon won't deal with the warranty on them when to them it has been shipped to within the US, not internationally where they know it has been shipped as such so will support the warranty on it).

        • -1

          @Porthos: All the best

        • +2

          @Ciccillo:

          Hello Ciccillo,

Have you every bought anything from Amazon yourself? If so, please share your experience. If not so, then your advice is unfounded. Amazon has a great reputation for good price and service, including a better returns policy than most American Bricks-and-Mortar stores.

I have mostly had problem free purchases with Amazon, with only one hiccup. An expensive photo book we purchased arrived in poor condition, and Amazon sent us another one and covered the return postage. Another one turned up and it was the same as the first, and they accepted it back. They checked with the seller for us as to the condition of the others in stock, and unfortunately a good quality book could not be provided, so they refunded us the initial purchase price, no questions asked. They were very helpful and I haven't received that sort of great service from any other online retailer. Would be very happy to recommend to others, so long as you are happy to wait a little bit longer for delivery.

Regarding the GTX 1070, looks like a good buy!

  • Every time I try get the estimate shipping in the cart screen I always get this message:

"Some of the items in your order cannot be shipped to the selected address. Please select a new address to see your estimated order total."

Shipping address is sydney, and on the product info page it says ships to sydney, Ive also ensured Ive selected the one shipped and sold by amazon. Any advise?

    • It's not a PO BOX is it?

      • Its a home address.

        • Try a ParcelPoint delivery location, there are 1000's of them and it's $1 cheaper.

    • +2

Had the same thing ordering the OC version of this card. For whatever reason calculating postage in cart results in that message, but if you just go through into the checkout you'll get the option to choose which address to post to. After that you'll get to the payment page where you can see the final cost and postage option and charge.
Came to me in Perth in 5 days (including a weekend) with standard amazon shipping!!

      • Thanks for the info. I'll try that.

  • worked for me. well i didnt order but go to the part to put in my credit card with no problems

Got this card from Amazon. I would definitely recommend it, though you'll lose warranty.

    • 2x of ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon Rx 470 4GB OC Edition AMD Graphics Card with DP 1.4 HDMI 2.0 (STRIX-RX470-O4G-GAMING) Sold by: Amazon Export Sales LLC $428.29

$556.45AU to upgrade two PC's from intel HD530's :) They retail for $389AU each for local stock before shipping. Amazon is great for Videocards

i will never crossfire these cards as its pointless and one GTX1070 would be the better option.

The lack of warranty still makes me a bit nervous spending this kind of money.

      • Me too.More after having a look their policy:

      • over the past 20 years i've had zero faulty video cards that have
They do have an end of life though after 3+ years of very heavy use.

been buying and upgrading PC's from 1996 to today..
I've had so many motherboards power supplies and faulty ram fail within a year.. Graphics cards are what i would call the most reliable component in a PC after DDR3 :) from my lifetime experience

  • +1

RRP at CPL is $779 so this deal is a hell of a lot cheaper. Making a custom build right now so excellent timing OP!

    • Same here, i was looking for a graphic card for my newly build. this one came up, hell of the deal !

  • im thinking about a 2nd card

  • +1

The Evga version is $10 cheaper on Amazon, any reason why you would choose this one over Evga?

    • LED Light?

    • +1

That USD $419 EVGA 1070 DT FTW is only running at reference speed. This one is factory overclocked.

      • Thanks mate, how about the overclocked gigabyte one below, good option for $5 more?

  • And this gigabyte seems faster for $5 more https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N1070G1-…

I'm just trying to work out which one to buy and why? Also would I get a good boost with this card over a gtx 980 4gb?

  • +12
  • i would of got this if i didnt buy the evga 1070 sc from a few weeks ago

    • +1

Why would you choose this Asus card over the EVGA?

      • better cooling and custom pcb oh and dem rgbs

        • mostly because of dem rgbs and my mobo is asus so could of taken advantage of their utility software that i wouldn't use anyway but yeah ;3

        • @Godric: Hmm I am thinking of buying a new system with Asus Z170 Pro Gaming (not ROG) motherboard. What additional functions will it give if paired with this Asus video card?

        • @edfoo:
Its just their proprietary software to manually gain fan controll overclock and adjust rgb on their gpus which you can do without it anyway im pre sure

    • Are you getting some coil whine when running the video card?

  • Thanks OP!

Been fence sitting for a while, and finally thought to hell with it thanks to your post.

    :)

    • -1

Actually, i placed the order - it states it was successful, gave me order number and shipping date. But when i logged back in to look at something else, the order isnt there. Its been moved to cancelled

So i ordered another, same thing, it was accepted then cancelled, anyone else seen this behaviour?

      • My account went silly, sorted it seems - thanks again OP
