Same price at Scorptec for those who can pickup, little bit lower surcharge - https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/graphics-cards/intel/115…

Performance had some great improvements on midrange CPUs this year to get rid of the overhead issue, better option than a 5050 or 5060 IMO.

Question is whether it's worth the extra $170 to get a 9060XT 16GB though, for most people it would be unless the budget is really strict.

Buying an 8GB GPU in 2025 - lol

        • -2

I care more about overall performance than how much memory it's got.

          • +7

@MrZ: wont matter when you dont have enough memory.

            • +1

@Fernan: 3080 with 10GB seem to be performing significantly better than 5060ti 16GB in nearly every title https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-5060-ti-16…

The gap widens at 4K: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atHJz3LOe4Y

              I'd happily take a 10GB 3080 over a 5060ti 16GB for the extra performance.

              • +1

@studentl0an: Performance is not the same as size though. And FPS is not the only metric. A 10GB card can match the performance of a 16GB card, but it cannot fit a 12-16GB all in it's memory despite the great performance. Size is size, for that size model, without needing you partially offload to RAM, you'd need a 16GB card.

              • +1

@studentl0an: Yup, the 3080 is the better choice depending on what you play. If you play older games, esports games or you don't mind playing the very latest (possibly future) AAA games with medium or low (or missing) textures, it's great.

The same goes for the 4060Ti 8GB, there will just be more games where you have to run lower textures.

              • @studentl0an: I have both here and agree - except for LLM stuff

      • +1

        Considering 1440 is growing, yes.

5060 is gimped because of it's vram.

      • Absolutely. It matches the 5060 at 1440p at a lower cost. Either would play 1080p games fine, but the B580 wins out since it's cheaper (and if you only want to game at 1080p, don't buy either - get the 9060XT 8GB for $400).

And then ignore all that and go buy the 16GB 9060XT instead :)

    • Performance had some great improvements on midrange CPUs this year to get rid of the overhead issue

Wasn't it only a partial fix? I'd still much rather the 8GB 9060 over this

    • It's not gone. Just that the am4 and 12th gen Intel CPUs are better, with select title getting a massive boost.

So, for the people who are investing into Intel for potentially a fine wine GPU, maybe they got their money's worth?

But 9060xt 16gb is still the better choice.

Nice price! I think that's the cheapest you'll get any 12gb card these days.

  • +1

    TIL Intel make GPUs. Huh.

    • +14

They just released their second gen of both consumer and entry level pro cards. The impact on market pricing has been a breathe of fresh air for sure.

  • I have a 4060ti 8GB. Is this a good option to go for assuming that I can sell the 4060ti?

    • +2

      no - unless vram limited

      • what about a 3060ti? worth holding off until next gen?

        • if you are still happy with it yes, not worth upgrading unless its to a 4070/5070 or better

  • +4

Ok price, but it's a bit late for ok.

But I am tempted though. Moreso that one day, this thing may be an awesome server VM GPU. SR-IOV is available at the hardware level, just not software enabled.

Just ordered the b60 pro for this purpose, keen to give it a try on Intel's latest releases

      • Wait we can purchase those already? I thought that's release individually next year.

        • +1

Just ordered mine from Scorptec, they've got 3 models in stock

          • @misunderstood98: Thanks for letting me know, $900 is pretty damn good price for it. We basically got it for $50usd less than its MSRP, because that price doesn't include tax.

Infact, with price this good, we should see a number of 3060 12gbs and 3080s that hobbyist have been using for AI.

  • Decent upgrade from an ancient Radeon RX570?

Maybe I can use this as a temporary upgrade and throw this in a future homelab for hardware transcoding…

    • +3

More than double the performance at 1080p ;)

      B580 - 100%, RX570 - 39% !

    • +2

Keep in my mind, the b580 struggles with older CPUs.

Generally, if you have a CPU older than 5600 or 12400, you wanna go amd.

      • Oh so even 3700x?

        • +1

Yeah. There's a CPU over head and even the 5600 isn't perfect in alot of games.

Intel said they are working on it though, and we have seen some patches that fixed it partially for 5600 recently.

      • Resizeable bar is the absolute minimum which was the main thing. I'm not brave enough to buy one now they are sorting the overhead issues to go with an 8th gen i7. I don't use it enough to upgrade the whole thing is my main problem.

      • Oh I didn't realise this. I think I'd be okay as I have a 5700X.

      • CPU overhead issue was fixed in driver 7028 (which was circa June 2025)!! Been three drivers released since the fix ;)

See here for driver version comparison on slower CPUs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfqGqj2bFj8&t=546s

        • It's not a complete fix. In the same video, HU said that Intel is currently focused on fixing the most problematic games.

Look at the graph at the end. 2600 is much slower in b580.

It's a good sign they're working on it though.

  • +2

If this were a single slot card it would be absolutely awesome as a media transcoder.

    • Wouldn't you just get an A310/A380?

      • Depends how busy the server is a few concurrent 4k transcodes chews through the vram.

I've got an a380 which i am happy with but it has vram limitations. Especially if you want to run a llm as well.

    • A310 for $180-$190 or so, though an A310 has far less GPU performance on offer than a B580.

A shame we haven't seen more Battlemage GPUs. Arc Pro B50 is probably closer to the right kind of SKU at 70W TDP but probably won't be the right price.

  • +1

Have been rocking the A770 for a couple of years now. For my 13 year old's kraken nuc. Almost no complaints ('clean the fans, boy')…

    Thoughts from the more adept?

    • Likewise, been running the A770 8GB variant perfectly. I'd say keep it until a Celestial release, or at least the imminent B770. I would have but the Battlefield 6 promo won me over on a B580.

  • There are a lot discussion about about 8G VRAM, 12G VRAM or 16G VRAM. If you aren't thinking to play newest games/future games, or have the best textures ect in settings. You can save some money to get an 8G VRAM GPU, but i guess 8G VRAM cards will soon be like 4G VRAM or 6G VRAM cards.

I don't give the Intel gpus long to live. Lip bu tan is tightening the belt on costs. So this card might be supported for one year or half at most

    • +1

This GPU uses very similar drivers to the recently launched pro series a few months ago and the dGPU drivers are much easier to develop than the pro drivers.

Considering the excitement for battlematrix, it seems unlikely that they're gonna tank their own momentum, especially after all the recent investments.

They've just started making waves in this space and are taking faster and more impressive strides despite market fud.

  • -1

Not worth it with the recent 4060 deals, unless you really need the extra VRAM

  • AI, at this price can get two, for cheaper than a single 24gb card….
