  • What does "(New Without Sealed)" mean for the Seagate drive?

    • The drive is pull out from a Brand new unused Seagate NAS, therefore the hard drive is unused without sealed.
P.S. it does comes with full warranty (5 years)

      Regards,

      • So it's "Brand new, repackaged"

      • Who will be providing the warranty?

        • +1

yeah i've had issues with some hdd vendors in the past if a hdd comes out of a preconfigured NAS.

hope the Store Rep can answer your question..

        • For warranty, you may contact us at [email protected] or Seagate directly.

To begin the warranty process with Seagate:
          http://www.seagate.com/support/warranty-and-replacements/

Please note their warranty based on date of purchase on our invoice, please keep the invoice in case it is needed in the future.

Any larger NAS drives on offer?

  • +1

Just bought Seagate WSS NAS 2 Bay Windows Storage Server NAS - Diskless STEC300

    • +1

Same, $119 is ludicrously cheap for an Intel NAS that supports large (6TB+) drives ! I also noticed it has a pair of USB 3.0 ports, so you can add more external drives connect a second SATA tower with something like a http://www.addonics.com/products/ad5ehpmeu3.php

    • Why not? One on the way as well.

  • Brought one with two drives. good as bit torrent/download box that can be remote controlled by remote software like log me in.

    • damn.. no Sonarr for Seagate NAS - that sucks. Automated tv episode downloader.. suppose you could run it on your desktop and when it detects new episodes it passes the nzb / torrent to your NAS and then NAS downloads, checks, unpacks and renames it.

best thing about my Xpenology (synology hack) ever!

  • What are the specs on the Seagate WSS 2-BAY Windows Storage NAS? Could i install linux on it?

  • Do you need to run Storage Server on it or does it have a native interface?

    Remote access? Cloud backup?? RAID???

    • "Do you need to run Storage Server on it"

      Yep

"does it have a native interface?"

      Nope

      "Remote access? Cloud backup?? RAID???"

Yep, Yep, and Yep - Storage Server is just Windows.

  • What does this miss out on compared to a QNAP or Synology?

Are there IOS/Android apps for access media? Backup software? DLNA support?

    • It basically works like MS windows.
The WSS NAS can be backed up to a Direct-attached storage connected to one of its USB ports or a Cloud storage just like windows.
WSS NAS can stream media to playback devices that support DLNA
