A mate went to JB HiFi and they offered him this for $1375. YMMV. Don't have a receipt as he hasn't purchased yet.

    • Weren't willing to come down that much for me but they matched me a U7700 55" for 1885

    • Yeah pretty good too, added to post :)

    "time machine compatible"

    FINALLY.

This is actually the superseded model from 2017.

  • Paid $1250 for a Sony 8000C not long ago…this possibly would have been a better buy…or a 8500C at a similar price.

  • JB Hi Fi has a similar deal for $1498, I'm sure they'll price match or beat it. Deal here

    Harvey Norman for $1496 Here

Video Pro has the TV for $1493 with free delivery * Link here

Lots of options around, I think they lowered the price everywhere.

JB Actually started the price drop, HN & TGG Followed:)

      • This is a great TV to buy in the $1,700 range.
So if you can get this for ~$1,300 that's a real OzBargain !

I'm not sure on what the community's stance on getting extended warranties for TVs are.
Would getting a 4 year extended warranty be seen as a waste of money, or a sound investment?

        • +5

Waste, typically statutory warranty will be sufficient.

  • Is the 60" for $1995 good too? Btw does that have 10bit HDR etc, also what's everyone's thoughts around 100hz vs 200hz for this type of tv

    • +4

      Generally… 60Hz is fine for 40in or smaller TV's.
But for something like 55 inches, I would go with at least a 120Hz panel.
And when you go larger, say 60 or 65 inches… I would go for the 200Hz or 240Hz panels.
There are faster 300Hz and 400Hz panels, but I don't think they're worth it.

The larger the screen gets, the more distance there is between the pixels, so ghosting becomes more and more apparent.
Compare for instance my old 50Hz LCD 40in TCL TV… no ghosting watching tennis (the tv torture test).
Then compare it to my friend's old 100Hz LED 65in Samsung TV… heaps of ghosting with the players and tennis ball.

Again, it's best to try the TV before buying.
Because there are some 100Hz panels that are brilliant, and some 120Hz panels that are lemons.

      • Not just TV, everything else MUST try before buy. No regrets after.

          But…but the brothels!

      • Thanks pulled the trigger on the 60" at JB

  • My Old man's after the 70" version of this with 200hz anyone can see a better price

    • And your old man wants to spend a maximum of 5K. You should take him to a store and let him choose the one he wants.

      • Your good, real good, you you he wants to spend that much but I don't want him to.

        • If you want a budget TV then you should buy this Bauhn 65" 4K TV $1199. Wait for the next 70" deal for $1500.

        • @PW:

Don't want budget but don't want to spend 5k also 3K for the 70" would be good

        • I'm waiting for the SONY EOTYS. Will to buy a 65" 4K LED TV for 2K to 2.5K.

    • You mean the 635T Version? That's around $3999 everywhere but it's worth around $3k at most so I'd wait for it to drop around that which shouldn't be too long :)

      • I'm not sure the model number but yeah it's the 70" hdr 300hz version for $3999 my cousin works at binglee and said he can get it for $3200 but I'd rather wait for 20℅ off eBay sales

        • Yeah 70" comes in 635T Not the 652T Lines, it's also 200Hz not 300Hz, LG AU Don't have 300Hz TV's

  • i have a feeling it might be worthwile waiting a couple of days before snagging this one

plus i really want a tv where i can watch the tv shows live on my tablet such as the panasonic tv anywhere function which seems to be a dying breed.

  • can this do 4:4:4 ?

might use it for a monitor.

  • Are LG TVs durable? Compared to Sony, which brand generally last longer?

    • My LG 42" is in its 8th year and annoyingly still going strong so can't justify getting a new one.

      • Sounds like our Fujitsu Plasma that just won't die lol

  • You really need to include whether it's HDR-10 or Dolby HDR since there are two types and some applications (ie, xbox one) only works with one type of HDR

    • +1

HDR10 is 10-bit depth, Dolby Vision HDR is up to 12-Bit Depth

  • Can this split the screen for inputs?

  • Can this split the screen for device inputs?

    • Yes, but not all inputs can be combined for concurrent display, notably you can't run side by side HDMI in my experience.

  • I have the 55"
    It's just a superb TV
Much better picture than my Samsung UA55JS8000W
I find the smart remote/pointer far easier too

    • this Samsung is Super-UHD, but the LG is normal UHD. could it be better? although the JS8000W is a last year model.

      • I think 'Super'is just Samsung's marketing words. Both are ultra

  • Any advice from techie how does LG 55" compared to Samsung 55" ? any recommendation ?

    • Samsung 6000 & 7000 series aren't true HDR, they are 8-bit so if you want true HDR You need to buy a Samsung SUHD Model

  • Both the LG and Samsung 60" are $2000.

any ideas on which is better?

    • As above, I have LG 55" and Samsung 60" and would recommend LG
