Can anyone confirm in any other stores?

I can't confirm if it is or is not in any other stores. But as far as my experience, if it's a handwritten price tag as in the photo above, it is not a nationwide sale.

        Saved me $7 instantly 🤑

  • I got similar one for free. Someone came to replace halogen downlights with LED and said it is free from government.

I am happy send his number if someone wants it. Just PM me. I think he works in SE Melbourne only.

  • Electrician must install these at meter box, as shown on box in photo.

So much for "simple to install" written on the side lol.. Simple for a sparky i guess

      • Think the simple to install relates to the wireless receiver - located inside your home (free standing or wall bracket).

For the sparky - it's just a clamp that goes around the mains cable to power & light circuit meter, connected to battery powered wireless sender. In some cases that means accessing cables behind distribution or meter board.

Only suited to normal single phase power found in most homes.

You may be able to attach clamp on cable to meter box. Link below shows how to connect the clamp sensor for that unit.

Clamp could posdibly be used around any power cable like an extension cable.

Had an $99 Efergy Elite installed free in Qld government program years ago. Observed it for a few months… then forgot it.

        • it's just a clamp that goes around the mains cable

I think my "sparky" can handle that.
Could even be done in the roofspace, or under the eaves where the power cable comes in.
Though if it requires separating live active and neutral wires, after the main switch may be preferable.

        • @manic:
Quick job. Usually don't include hot water circuit (if electric), so not usual to do it where cable enters premises.
But not my area of knowledge.

Around an extension cord is a no go as the active needs to be separated from the neutral.
Running both active and neutral through it give a zero reading or close to it regardless of actual current flow.

        • @virtual81:
True - was trying to find another use, but hadn't thought that out.

  • Can't find on Bunnings website. Saw same thing for $50 on Ebay.

  • OP did you purchase? What is the item code or SKU so other can find elsewhere?

    • I didn't as I already have one similar, mine wasn't this cheap when I bought it so thought others might enjoy a bargain…..

  • These things are redundant now with smart meters providing the same functionality. You can access data from your smart meters online

    • I have a dumb meter and that's how I like it. Nice and secure from spying or hacking.

      • And bound to be cheaper than the scam smart metre rates. I am all for smart meters and paying attention to consumption but not being ripped off by a monopoly (or close to it) of energy companies

    • *where available or installed
A few different metering systems in use across Australia.

Assume that is why this is being cleared - where smart meters are installed.

      • Yes, lets not assume everyone has them, a lot of houses still being built in SA without smart meters.

    • I didn't know that skysky. I'm just looking at figures on my suppliers website. It's great to see my power has dropped marginally, and my gas by 40% since I installed a newer ducted heater. I didn't know this data was available. Thank you.
