Baby on Board on a Budget

Hi there :)

Any advice for a young couple who just found out that they are going to have an oopsie-baby and are on a budget? Where are the best bargains on maternity clothes, baby stuff, cot… etc

They will also need a car for their expanding family, which currently includes the 2 of them and Marley, their Labrador.

Cheers,
JJB

Baby stuffs, join swap/sell/recycle group on Facebook. Those groups usually have LOTS of second hand baby stuffs either for free or for a very cheap price. I.e. a box of baby clothes for $20

    Congratulations btw!

My advise would be to ask around to see if there is any hammy downs from family and friends. Expect a lot of gifts, so hold back on blowing any money prior. New car would be more or less a want more than a need, eg we have a 4 door hatch and it fits our family of 3 plus a dog just fine. If you're definite on wanting to buy something, be patient and search around on Gumtree/Ebay. You'd be surprise on how much near new items you can buy for a fraction of the price if you don't mind it being second hand.

  • First thing I'd buy is a vasectomy to stop it happening again

Not sure why I'm being negged - he already has two kids and this one is an accident (oops) - why wouldn't you get a vasectomy?

        It's their first child.

        • Oh, I thought it was you OP having the third baby.

Reads like that to me. Usually one says 'asking for a friend'

        • @juicedpixels: You should have known, JJB is a cat person. This couple has a labrador :-)

@bluesky: I have a cat and a dog. I've even posted pics of my dog, who admittedly, looks more like a cat than a dog :)

        • @Jar Jar Binks: Haha, I see. I must have only read your comments when cat was mentioned. And besides, your avatar … :-)

When the kid grows up I hope he/she doesn't come across this thread. Also hey from 2016! :)
