Xiaomi Piston Basic Edition Earphones US $6.99 (~AU $9.10) Delivered @ DD4

61

Xiaomi Piston Earphones from DD4.

Been waiting for awhile now.
Loved my last pair, found out about these through Ozbargain's positive reviews on previous deals.

Mod Note: This is the basic edition version which has flat ribbon cabling, no volume control and comes with other colour options. This is not the Piston 3 model even though the title of the DD4 listing says so.

Can you confirm if these are originals?

  • FYI to those planning to use these for calls - I get a lot of complaints when I use these outside. The microphone picks up a lot of wind noise and the person on the other end can't hear me properly. I stopped using them for that reason.

    • I am seeing the same comments on all piston posts. Do you have a life mate?

      • Huh?

        • Forget it, this is what happens when I leave my computer unlocked at my work. Can't even delete the comment

these are basic edition which have the same price on gearbest

That's the cheaper flat cable one. It's not everyone's cup of tea. The good thing is they don't tangle easily, but neither do the sleeved ones.

      I prefer the sleeved cables.

      • This deal is for the basic edition, can be had for under $12 from most places, not the original piston 3 (which i've only ever seen available in black)

        • Oh right. My bad. I only looked at the picture, and it didn't look like a flat cable.

The AQ should still be the same, as long as you don't mind the extra bulk of flat cables.

I got my Piston 3 Dazzle/Youth editions for about $5 USD, so this price does sound like they may be legit. Then again, I got them cheaper than this.

Actually only AU$7.31 on TinyDeal for the same ones (basic edition)

      Thanks. I've ordered a couple.

Unfortunately that means I need to -ve this deal to highlight it is cheaper at TinyDeal.

I've given you and Forenti a + each for your effort in highlighting this, and a + also to the OP to reimburse him for your highlighting neg. Pleasure doing business with you all.

Glad you saw it :) Someone couldn't help but neg us both though haha

        • (For anyone googling in future) I've received my Xiaomi Pistons from Tinydeal today. Shipping time, packaging, etc were all fine. The earphones themselves actually give quite a nice sound, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm happy.

        • Their isolation and fit isn't terribly good though. I've been using them for a few days and have yet to achieve a decent fit and thus decent level of blocking out ambient noise.

  • I own a pair. They are amazing for the price you pay. That is assuming these are real. No way to know really.

Mine cost about $15-16ish from everbuying.

They are crazy cheap on eBay right now.
    Im guessing "hot" means stolen?
    Price: $6.19 AU

    • i am sure these are not genuine

      • Im pretty sure they are. They have a good rating for the amount of transactions

        • may be these are A+ copy and buyers got refund from seller to give positive feedback lol

I wouldn't purchase that myself again.

I previously purchased two different eBay Piston 3's before. Here's my old measurements that's still valid today $3 USD Piston 3 vs. Genuine Piston 3.

My measurements match AudioBudgets and Innerfidelity's measurements close enough.

      • Damn, Looks like I bought 6 bucks worth of junk.

    • Fakes for sure :)

I think DD4's is basic edition of xiaomi, not Xiaomi Piston 3 Earphones. Don't buy it if you want Piston 3.

The one posted is this one from mi.com. It's genuine.

P.S. If you alreay made the order, PM me if you want to cancel the order. I can help.

    Summer from DD4.com

    • Only 29 yuan/RMB for the piston 3 basic edition? If it's in yuan, the price is very attractive.

      • Yes, this is how mcuh it sells on xiaomi's website. If we only buy this one piece produt from mi.com in China, we need to cover the shipping cost by ourselves.

        • And we are happy to pay the shipping cost because we do not have a chinese address ;)

  • Does anyone know any current Piston 3 deals anywhere? I have had some other cheapo earphones and they're almost dead so I am looking for a better set, not something crazy expensive.

    • Last week the Rock Zircon was at AU$10 instead of 17 but it can be a good alternative if you want more bass.
      Review https://audiobudget.com/product.php?brand=ROCK&id=Zircon

      • I never owned the Piston earphones before, but I heard a lot of positive stuff about them so are these as good as the Pistons? Ta

        • +1

Unfortunatly, I don't own both earphones but it's not the same sound signature. The rock zircon is more like a xiaomi hybrid (bass oriented IEM).

A lot of low end earphones (less than AU$100) have the same soldering problem so it will be difficult to use them for 5 years. It can be seen as a good opportunity to buy a newer earphone…

        • @jutsu: Ta. Appreciate it.

  • Another good option here: http://www.tinydeal.com/original-xiaomi-piston-dazzle-editio…

I don't know difference between both though.

  • Do these feature a large number of medical ear canals data, wearing more comfortable?

  • Did they ever fix these? I got a pair of them about 2 years ago when they were all the rage. The build quality is mostly ok and the packaging all fancy like you're buying an Apple product - but when push comes to shove, the noise suppression was HORRIBLE.

I just re-tested them, the wind reduction / noise pickup is just a warcrime. It sounds like I'm at the beach in my own place, but my crappy Apple ones sound much clearer. (on recording, of course)
