For the neggers - care to explain why?

You don't think a shop refusing to refund even though admitting they cannot deliver is acceptable?

      • Can you please PM me your order number? I'd like to see what's happened.

        • +1

I PM'ed you on 27/07 with the order number, and you told me the next day you'd look into it.

        • +4

@mooboy: Thanks. I passed that one onto CS previously so I'll speak to them about it again.

    • TNT would be tracked surely

      • +1

It was tracked. It got as far as Sydney (I'm in Melbourne) and then sent back to China.

Meanwhile, I was accused by Geekbuying of not accepting delivery, refusing to sign, not paying for customs (it was roughly $40 order) and finally, I was asked to go to my local DHL (not TNT???) to personally ask for my package.

At no time did I ever receive any contact from courier asking for any of these things.

        • Strange

  • @clear is this the "Global" or "Special edition"? http://en.miui.com/download-301.html
The "Global" version does NOT suppport B28
    Pls clarify

    • This is what Xiaomi provided with the phone which definitly supports b28.

    • One other way to tell is the dimensions… The "special edition" which was made for Taiwan is 2mm longer 3g heavier compared to the "global edition" to accommodate for B28.

So a small caveat is that the case for the two versions aren't compatible.

I think what Clear has posted is indeed the "special edition"… the global variant is 150mm long, the one he's posted is 152.5mm.

      • Downside of Xiaomi's new releases. They put TBD for the name so sellers have to come up with their own. That's why you'll see one store selling a Redmi Note 3 Pro and another selling a Redmi Note 3 Prime.

  • Try to order but what's the differences between 2+16b gold, and official international 2gb 16gb gold?

    • The standard gold is the local Chinese version and does not support b28. While the International Gold does.

      • Int gold shows AUD 200.62, rather than $193ish.

        • I'm required to put the AUD equivalent at the time of posting since Geekbuying is in USD.

Best way to get close to the current exchange rate is using a card like 28 Degrees with no currency conversion fees in Paypal.

  • This worth upgrading to from a Oneplus One?

  • int gold shows AUD 200.62, rather than $193ish

  • @ Clear, if I use 2 SIMs on this phone, when the 2G/GSM network shutdown, will it affect this phone/am I still able to use the phone with 2 SIMs?

    • You'll still be able to have 2 SIMs, but after the shutdown the 2nd won't function for 2G.

      • Thanks @Clear, I am aware that when the phone running 2 Sims , one is on 3/4G, the other one is on 2G. So after the shutdown of 2G/GSM, the phone will becomes a single SIM phone, is it correct?

        • Correct. I think the only phone from Xiaomi that has dual 4G and 3G is the Mi 5.

        • Surely you would be able to still use 1 sim for. Callss and text and the other sim for data ..

        • @bazzazz:

As long as the 2g network is available then yes. When 2g is shut down then no.

    Do not get this phone.
Phone app keeps crashing, cannot call anyone.
Software is not up to scratch, cannot perform basic calling/contact list functions successfully.

    • lol… you are the only one complaining about this phone. Do you even know if you have a legit phone?

    • I'm definitely having a different experience to you, though I don't have the "International" version.

Have you tried flashing a legitimate, official ROM for it?

      • Dont' want to flash it - it would void the warranty?
Will just return it and get a manufacturer that has reliable version of android.

        • +1

No, you can flash (and should!) official MIUI OS. You can do this from the Update app on your homescreen.

What version of MIUI does your phone say you have (Settings > About phone)? Which phone do you have exactly? Is it genuine? Check here: http://www.mi.com/verify/#secur_en

You do not need to unlock the bootloader to flash the official firmware, so your warranty will not be void (also, I don't believe unlock voids the warranty for Xiaomi phones).

You can choose either "Developer" or "Stable". I'd suggest "Stable" for you.

You can get it from this website: http://en.miui.com/download-301.html which is the official Xiaomi page, assuming you have the Redmi Note 3. There are little tabs that allow you to select which model you have, but perhaps you should let us know what you have.

Send it back. Go to Harvey Norman and get a phone suitable for you

  • So, which 3GB/32GB phones have B28?

    • The ones marked as "Official International Version" like this

  • 3s with protector and case deal?

  • @ Clear, can you please help me with a couple of questions in regard to the Int version of Note Pro 3 3gb ram/32gb rom pre order?
    - Is the phone good to go as is, no need to flash other ROMs to get rid of bloatware/dodgy apps/malware?
    - will it receive OTA updates to MIUI 8 when it becomes available?
    Cheers

    • Good to go with no malware.
      It will receive OTA updates.

For those wanting a discount on the 3GB/32GB version - I'll have a deal at release. That way Geekbuying can ensure that they have enough stock with the best possible price.

    • +1

Great to hear, would you roughly know what date it would be?

Also thanks for also being responsive in this thread.

Edit: Nevermind saw that its 30th

    • Looking forward to that deal

    • Is the expected date for stock 3GB/32GB pretty solid? I'm really after that model and am considering doing the presale just to ensure I get one but don't want to get stuck with a preorder if the in-stock date gets pushed back.

      • Since it's not a widely distributed phone I'm confident that there will be enough stock.

  • Placed the order yesterday, the TNT shipping option was +$5 and DHL was closer to +$50.
Chose TNT, even though the deal said it wasn't an option, because my phone broke and if I can get it in a week, that's better than 4 weeks?

Customer Service sent me an email today saying TNT wasn't available, but don't worry - it's been sent out via DHL.

After reading a fair few negative comments about this vendor on here and on whirlpool, I doubt it's been sent, let alone with DHL, but we'll see.

    • TNT isn't available for the HK warehouse and that's why I have the warning. Good that they upgraded you to DHL for free as they won't do it for everyone.

    • Good luck with getting them shipped by DHL. I ordered and payed for DHL and now i get an email that it has been shipped by Registered Airmail with a 15-20 day delivery time. The tracking number provided does not come up with anything. They don't respond to email either.
I am going to contact my Credit card provider / paypal to get the refund.

  • Given this phone is 2mm longer than the other Redmi Note 3's, do the existing cases still fit or do we have to wait for new cases to made to fit properly?

    • +1

      Good question. I'll find out.

      • @ Clear. Did you have any luck finding out about the phone fitting normal covers/cases
Who puts the global rom on the phone, xiaomi or geek buying? Cheers

        • I haven't got an answer yet.

  • Does this phone come in black?

    • No sorry. Dark grey and gold only.

  • So this means this Xiaomi actually has pre-installed Play Store and other Google apps therefore I don't need to flash the phone by myself? Interesting. I might get one for myself. Hopefully it does not come with nasty malware that I had on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. Thanks Clear.

  • Been waiting for this now just need a good deal for 3/32GB Dark Grey version :)

  • Hey all

Would I be able to use my shared data and unlimited call and texting plan from Optus with the Samsung Galaxy S6 which are still on contract? Would I just take out the sim card and put it in, say this or the Max and then It would all be transferred to the new phone included phone number? Sorry about this, I have no idea how this works.

  • Hi, is the 3S suitable for the Optus + Vodaphone networks? Not fussed about fast 4g as only have a 1.5gb plan on TPG (Vodaphone network) and will soon be moving to iiNet (Optus network).

    Thanks.

  • +1

Just an update on the 3GB/32GB version. The grey model is selling out fast even though it's presale with about <150 units left. I won't be able to do a deal on that one as it'll likely sell out before arrival.

The gold however… that one is instock and will be onsale ASAP.

    • +1

      Waiting on this

What is the ship date for the 3G/32GB International presales?

      • I don't have a specific date other than after the 30th.

      • Has anyone bought presales from Geekbuying in the past?, bit wary of dropping lots of money for something that's not guaranteed to have enough stock of?.

    • Waiting for this deal

    • ouch,, i've been wanting a grey model of this =(

    • When can u do a deal for gold?

      • At this stage Saturday.

  • +1

Following this thread for 3gb, 32gb b28 version on special too

  • I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (2GB/16GB)with bands 20 and 28 via Ali express and received it yesterday - very pleased with the phone thus far, although no useful documentation/manual with the (sealed) phone

  • I placed an order for Xioami Redmi Note 3 on the 18/8/16. Still haven't received any correspondence from Geekbuying? It only shows as unpaid on there website even though i have provided adequate cc details.
Is this due to it being a presale item?

Any chance you can look into this "Clear"?

    Order Number - 3742973

    • Exact same thing happened to me.

They rejected the credit card and didn't send me any notifications.
I sent an inquiry on the status of the order, no reply after two days.
I then sat on their live chat (which was active for 2-3 hours) waiting for them to ask the status of the order.
Eventually got through and they said it was rejected and that they wanted photographs of the CC and also ID.

So i bought through ali express instead using the same credit card. Went through fine.

      • +1

Thanks for the feedback millzy. I have sent them multiple emails. I'm gonna do the same as you now, although i'm wary i just dont want them to suddenly process the payment and i'm stuck with 2 x Phones. We will see what happens.

  • my Redmi Note 2GB/16GB arrived today. took about 9 days with DHL. first impressions looks like a nice bit of kit, cant fault the build quality.

  • Will the Xiaomi Redmi 3S (5") eventually be released with band 28 please?

    • Hard to say. If Xiaomi decide to make a Taiwan version.

      • I ordered mine before the last sale advertised here on OzBargain, so was ordered and it says its confirmed Paid on the 5th September. It's the 10th september now and still hasn't been shipped out?

  • Hi when i try to apply the code i get the error " Sorry, the coupon code is only valid when the item sells no less than USD163"

  • What charger is everyone using? my Samsung S6 smart charger doesn't charge it. Do I just get a China to AUS adapter and use the original one?
