      I think it's for all 3

      • +10

        Oh…

        • Hamburgers were and in Queensland at least, still are $2.

        • @jackary: cheeseburgers in vic are $2.70ea

    • +1

when i was a boy this used to be the $2 meal…. only 20 years ago and now it's gone up by 50%, ah the good old days

      • do you remember 50c cheeseburgers? they were in the mid 90s so probably around the same time.

i vaguely remember a (much bigger) friend of mine say he can eat twice as many as i could. i wish i took him up on it and bought four to see him eat eight.

        • -1

why the neg? just relating fond memories with a good friend. he'll still probably take up the challenge if i reminded him : )

oh, in case you were wondering, no he wasn't big as in fat. he was simply tall and stocky BIG, especially compared to me. no meanness involved, we were and still are buddies.

      • +7

Take off your nostalgia goggles. People also earned less back then.

        • +2

Shit me to tears how many old farts would tell me a packet of cigs cost 2 cents in the day. No1 gives a toss.

      • +1

The $2 Dinner Deal circa 1991…given inflation, a 33% increase isn't so bad 25 years later.

  • It's the 3 for $3 deal

  • Their cheeseburger was $1 at one stage for a couple of hours in the middle of the day

    • 12 till 2

  • +1

    if only it was nsw…

    • -3

yes this deal is so nation-racist lol

      • +1

        You mean statist?

      • NSW & ACT has always had their own specials which does not exist in other states.

  • +14

    Thankyou OP.

Heads up, while YMMV (QLD here) between states and such, this deal seems to appear in their POS as a small cheeseburger value meal, and as such you can add unlimited additional cheeseburgers @ $1.50ea.

So 4 cheeseburgers, a chips and a drink for $7.50. Bugger it add a chocolate pie and a frozen Coke and make it an even tenner. Strive for the diabetes, heart disease and hypertension trifecta. Reach for the stars. Also, I don't know why (always put it down to OCD/other general peril) but ive always preferred the single cheeseburgers over double or triple. Maybe a different meat to sauce/onion ratio. Anyway, you are all so so welcome.

    • +3

Might as well get the ice cream with the pie as its the same price with or without, at least at our nearest McD. It would be a shame to miss out on some extra bonus calories.

      • +4

        This guy gets it.

    • you can add unlimited additional cheeseburgers @ $1.50ea.

How does this work? Is this a current promotion?

      • +1

Not totally sure if I'm honest, perhaps a McD employee can chime in! Works with any value meal purchase though. I believe it was originally intended to be an easy add on cross selling tactic for the drive thru cashier but just never really left.

        • I do remember they used to always ask for an extra cheeseburger upsell in drive thru. So they just left it there? Can anyone clarify if you have to specifically ask for the $1.50 cheeseburger or is the discount automatically added on normal cheeseburgers? Because im guessing theres two cheeseburger buttons… Or is there just one?

        • @Orpheus: Hit the nail on the head! I think they had some sort of shift upsell target which if they hit they received a gift card etc.

But yes my local McDonalds still has the cheeseburger tally and promo material at drive thru. Don't think it ever left.

To further clarify what I've already said… twice - only $1.50 when bought in conjunction with a small value meal or more. There are not two buttons. Buying a small value meal just triggers a price override for the existing cheeseburger button to make it $1.50. In theory you shouldnt have to remind them. Why not just look at the big massive order screen right in front of your face next time you go drive thru yourself?

        • @jackary: most times they never completely update the screen and instead tell me to drive thru to the window. Probably because i order burgers without pickles and drinks with no ice, and i probably get the rookies that dont know what they are doing so they fix it up later. And no they dont tell me the price either until i get to the window.

        • @Orpheus: You just need to get their POS down. I'm a meat and cheese only double cheeseburger fan, extra slice of cheese. But after years of disappointment never getting my extra cheese I worked out why. When the poor 14 year old hits the meat and cheese only button, all extra customisations disappear! So it you're lucky, she/he runs to the cook before he makes it, or unfortunately you're SOL, every time, every restaurant. When I learnt that by saying "Add extra cheese, meat cheese only", it was an ephipany. No more panic for the poor kid every time I want my Mc-OCD meal. Never had to go back for a replacement again.

My favourite customised order (I genuinely think someone in the kitchen just wanted to mess with me) - Orderered HJs Tendercrisp Cheese and Bacon minus tomato minus lettuce minus mayo. Do you know what I got? 2 stone cold buns with what must've been half a cup of mayo between. Went back, asked for replacement as I ordered it etc. second time? They removed the bun. Indeed, Hungry Jacks sold me an $8 box of mayonaisse. Twice… Hahahaha

No pickles and no ice in the drink are both pretty bog standard customisations though. Maybe next time you're in maccas, see how your no ice order appears on the screen - it might be nestled away somewhere so the person banging out all the drinks doesn't spot it… not really a fix but hey at least you know why it's always consistently wrong! It irks me when my order is wrong because second only to KFC, McDonald's is pretty expensive these days!

Ever wondered why you never get your extra nugget sauces even you ask for extra and even pay for them? It's because for some stupid reason the extra sauces appear nowhere near the rest of your order or with the sauces included free with your nuggets, it actually sits in an extra line of it's own underneath the total cost of your order. The cook couldn't care less how much your order costs, and as such never looks at that area of the screen. Disappointment guaranteed to ensue every time.

Have the same problem when I order hotcake syrup to go with my gross bulk morning hash brown order. Every damn time "is the hotcake syrup in the bag?" To which there is always a reassuring yes… never. Not once ever has it been in the bag. And I must've eaten a thousand damn hash browns by now!

        • I've worked at a McDonald's in WA for about eight years, and I've never heard of it. I assume it's a QLD only thing. Same with the free soft serve with a pie deal.

        • @jolson42: Yeah.. Queensland get some strange deals.

        • +1

@jackary: Yeh, whats up with the freezing cane toads deal?

        • @jackary:

I get jealous that QLD gets KFC vouchers when the rest of Australia doesn't, but KFC is cheaper than Maccas here usually so I guess it's not so bad.

        • @Miss B: The cost of KFC in Queensland makes my itty bitty heart hurt. :(

    • i just tried in SA and didn't get any additional cheeseburgers for 1.50, the were 2.85 each :|

      • Oh dear. Sorry! Definitely still valid in QLD though! What is the difference, if any, between a cheeseburger and the $2 menu hamburger with a 50c slice of cheese? Is it just the whole matter of how much dignity you're prepared to lose for 35 cents because that doesn't bother me

    • No luck at Hindley St Adelaide. Was charged an extra $2.90 for an additional cheeseburger. Thanks anyway. I'm sure it will still help others

    • +2

the cheeseburger is made with hope of a better job, the double is made with despair of not having a better job, that's why they taste different, one is made with love.

  • +13

Just a friendly reminder to companies that there are people in the ACT, not just politicians

  • Darn just when I thought I had today's lunch sorted out.. Excludes NSW fml

  • +1

Surprised that no one has posted the free maccas deal in the rio athletes village. Bargain for all aussie competing athletes :D

  • +1

    MMMMMMM MACCAS

  • I've been getting this from maccas for a while, since the last time the promo was on here in victoria - most maccas seem to have left the "three for $3" deal in their self-ordering computer system :)

still a great deal - two of these for $6 and youve got a decent (sized, not quality) lunch going

    • is this whats knows as a "three for $3" deal?

      • its what mcdonalds are calling it in their promos, yes.

    • YOU MEAN NOT QUALITY? :D

  • +9

Save 5% by paying in NZ coins

  • I haven't been in a while but I haven't seen any promos running for limited edition glasses this olympics?

    • +1

No, the Olympics stuff is much more subdued this year… Two new burgers and two frozen drink flavours, none of which is particularly on-theme.
I think the marketing team is saving their energy for Monopoly later in the year!

  • Sweet we are running a decent deal

    *Excludes 60% of the population

    • +2

These are rough numbers but you get the idea

Roughly speaking Australia has a population of 24mil.

      NSW population is 7.6mil
      ACT population is 400k

      Total = 8mil

That's 33%, don't know where you get your 60% from.

Also NSW & ACT gets their own specials most of the time that we don't get elsewhere

      • Also NSW & ACT gets their own specials most of the time that we don't get elsewhere

        Really, where?

        • +1

Is there a reason for this? Generally curios. We do it here in SA, why not NSW/ACT?

  • Well, lunch is sorted, cheers OP!

  • Is it just a one day promotion?

  • +2

wait your saying SOUTH AUSTRALIA actually get to join in this time??

  • last time this happened i could modify order on self service to water and there was no extra fees, keep it in mind

  • Staff didn't know of the deal when I asked at Collins St maccas VIC

  • Is this for WA as well?

    • Yup!

  • Works in Melbourne central food court

  • i went and got this for lunch, there were no $1.50 cheeseburgers after you buy this meal. cost me full price.

  • Doesn't work in Devonport homemaker McDonalds Tasmania, why do we always miss out!

Update: But does work at the other Maccas in Devonport, why can't they get it consistent?

  • +3

The time to shred is over… now is the time to bulk.

  • If you can't find it in the kiosk show the staff the Facebook post at the register.

  • Quite satisfying, thanks!

  • Is this deal current?

  • *** Scam warning. If you ask for 'a small cheeseburger meal' they act like they don't know about this deal and charge you normal meal price.

    • I have not had that experience at all. At multiple McDonalds.

Ordered this just now and they say it's expired in vic
