mymemory5 Code is still works, it will reduce to £23.74

    • Didn't work for me.

    • what he said ^

    • thanks so much for this code, i wish i knew before i bought another one without it! oh well… still cheap ;)

it took 3 weeks to WA

    • +1

That's way too long. Given the way these things are dropping in price, it probably was 25% cheaper by the time you got it.

  • Is this good for DSLRs?

    • SD > MicroSD for DSLRs and its cheaper I think.

      • Actually, nevermind. The write speed on this card is too slow.

        • +1

30MB/s write speed is too slow?
Perhaps the Sandisk Extreme Pro series is for you?

        • fwiw, not 'slow' at all in shooting 4K video on a Lumix G7 camera, been using this card for past few months without a problem.

  • +2

Any ideas if this is MLC or TLC?

  • +1

    Great first post OP

  • Thanks OP. Bought it through the German site.

  • anyone know the write speed?

    • -2

Seems to be around 20MB which is terribly slow

      • +1

U3 means it has a minimum of 30MB/s write
I have one on me right now: from comp -> card it's sustained 31MB/s write.
I know there are faster, but it does indeed meet the U3 standard.

        • Check Amazon link miserable speed test

          @thelastnoob:
Are you talking about this review?
That review was written in 17 Mar. 2016
The U3 card: "Date First Available 14 April 2016"
It was for a different card

Or are you talking about this review?
That's for the Class 10 32GB, Different card.
Class 10 is 10MB/s write speed minimum, if it shows 20MB/s write speed, not sure why that's bad?

          Please stop spreading false information!

        • @cwongtech:
          I checked the Amazon link
          There are so many reviews
I read about 10 and looked at the speed
You said the minimum speed is 30MB
What's the speed is it faster or stuck on 30?
What actual benchmark did you find?
Op said is a fast card 30MB is not fast compared to some cards which do 90MB
I got my information from Amazon reviews so I'm not trying to lie

pretty fast, big capacity card from reputable brand at great price when compared with U1-speed microSD cards like Samsung, Sandisk, etc.

Seems to be a reasonable assertion. If their U1 cards are 90mb/s write speed maybe they should be classed as U3.

        • @Miss B:
          U1 = class 10 = minimum write speed of 10MB/s.
A lot of the times manufacturers will advertise the read speed over write because it is much higher

      • I think in the last deal someone claimed about 30MB/sec (I think it is a minimum for U3).
The review on amazon re 20MB/sec seems to be for a different card.

        • -2

          30MB still quite slow

        • -1

          @thelastnoob:
U3 standard is 30MB/s write minimum.
          It's fine for most applications.
Also the link in the OP is for Interface - SDHC/SDXC, UHS-I, class 10, looks like its the wrong picture.
What other 128gb and U3 standard (30MB/s write) microsd card is available for under $50 AUD?
          Just curious.

There's no higher standard than UHS-I U3, please tell us which card you think would be better value with a higher write speed.

        • +1

          @cwongtech:
Op said its a fast card but 30MB might be too slow for some
You are so keen about this card can you confirm the actual speeds
          I use a 16gb and 64gb writes at 90MB
I never said this wasn't a deal I was informing people it's not as fast as it's made out to be and read speeds are only half the story

        • +6

30MB/s write speed is slow compared to the "Pro" level cards that cost much more than this card. It's fast for a card in this price range.

30MB/s is more than fast enough to shook 4K video.
          e.g. the Gopro 4 Black shoots 4K at 7.5 MB/s and the Sony a6300 shoots 4K at 12.5 MB/s.

It's also fast enough to shoot large bursts of of high-res JPEG images on modern cameras.

People shooting 24megapixel images in raw at 10fps will want a faster card, but they probably already know that.

        • @trongy: Thanks, i had (perhaps wrongly) assumed those seeing this deal would know that for the price and capacity, this is "pretty fast", especially when categorised as 'U3'. Sure, there's faster - but at what price, exactly? Moreover, i've already got one of these used regularly shooting 4k video in a Lumix G7 camera, so no problems there. Again, i'm also curious what else is there with declared 'U3' speed and 128gb capacity at the price ;)

        • @mtrkr:
Yes it's a good deal if it does what you need.
Some people use these cards as a hard drive others just need faster write for file transfers. The bottom line is that it would be very useful information if the ops of all these kind of deals would post the read and write speeds since Amazon reviews are a mess.

Some people would prefer 3x the write speed half the capacity and the same price. Especially since the higher capacities means the potential to lose more files in case of failure.

        • @thelastnoob:

The bottom line is that it would be very useful information if the ops of all these kind of deals would post the read and write speeds since Amazon reviews are a mess.

Or you could just read it's a U3 classed microSD card so the minimum is 30MB/s write?

        • +1

          @cwongtech:

Next he will ask people that post GPU deals to attach benchmarks for different drivers and CPU/RAM combos.

If the OP would be so nice to do so, then great - but it's ultimately the individual who is purchasing the item to do some of their own damn research into what they are buying and the alternatives.

        • -1

          @c0balt:
Check most memory card comments and people are usually asking
I was actually the first to respond to someone's question
Also you will send lots of useless debates about it like in this thread
So it actually is HELPFUL to post the speeds

Your comment about drivers and gpu isn't a good example

        • @cwongtech:
Are you saying u3 means it can only manage 30? It's good to know the actual range of speed not just minimum.

        • @thelastnoob:
U3 is a standard for minimum write speed requirement. This card meets it at 31MB/s, where the required is 30
I didn't write up the standards for microsd speeds, they set a baseline so the cards can be compared
It's also good to know that your information is incorrect that the cards write speed isn't only 20MB/s.
Standards are written for minimum capabilities, see Australian standards for pipes and materials for construction, no one writes standards for maximum capabilities

        • @cwongtech:
i got the 20mb info from the amazon link provided
you should post the minimum and max speeds instead of spending time trying to prove i did something wrong or malicious
you seem blinded that some people would actually like to know this info
just because you are happy knowing a basic figure you don't need to argue against me trying to provide some information for some people even if it doesn't appeal to you

who cares about standards if people need to know other specs unlisted
you actually stated that we should only list the standard NOT the max speed
          thats unwise and lacks data

        • @thelastnoob:

you should post the minimum and max speeds instead of spending time trying to prove i did something wrong or malicious

But you are wrong about the 20mb write speed

i got the 20mb info from the amazon link provided

You selectively picked one, when the reviews are all from the last 3 generations (2014, 2015, 2016).
You didn't post the link to which review you got the 20mb info from.

you should post the minimum and max speeds instead of spending time trying to prove i did something wrong or malicious

          Minimum = 30MB/s as specified.
Maximum = What do you mean? Burst speeds?
Constant = 31MB/s write speed, I showed you that in my screenshot.

who cares about standards if people need to know other specs unlisted

So you prefer if every MicroSD didn't have a rating on it? The specs have been listed as U3, minimum write speed of 30MB/s (which you claimed was 20MB/s without even owning one)

you actually stated that we should only list the standard NOT the max speed

I stated that the U3 standard gives a baseline of how a product should perform at its bare minimum.

          thats unwise and lacks data

          Oh, and stating this

Seems to be around 20MB which is terribly slow -thelastnoob

          with

i got the 20mb info from the amazon link provided -thelastnoob (no source provided to specific review)

          is wise?

        • -1

          @cwongtech:

yeah the speed is useful so i can calculate if its going to be slow to copy 100gb or more or less to a card
your figure of minimum 30mbs is useless if it can actually sustain 90mbs

i check out around 8 amazon reviews and got that figure
you have pointed out many times my mistake
20mbs is slow so is 30mb compared to other cards and other peoples needs
you really don't get that point and you ignore my other points and repeat about my mistakes

cwong do you understand that some people here would like and maybe need to any know this information
what exactly do you want from me? ill be sure to post speeds in more posts and let people know
i don't know what you are waffling on about and why you want to try to hound me
cwong do you understand that some people here would like and maybe need to any know this information yet you seem upset over this

can you set up a poll if we should leave this info out or put it on
there or your useless version of quoting a standard without additional useful info
you'll lose that one easily but don't forget my mistake i made

i am happy to have an online debate with you about it (voice)

        • +1

          @thelastnoob:

your figure of minimum 30mbs is useless if it can actually sustain 90mbs

You gave someone else's work without referencing it, let alone verify it, you inferred this was a terribly slow card (which it isn't, a 128gb U3 card for $50, it's around the same price of a 128gb U1 Samsung Evo+ which has half the write speed). Plaguarism!

20mbs is slow so is 30mb compared to other cards and other peoples needs
there or your useless version of quoting a standard without additional useful info

Proof here, sustained 31MB/s write speed for the exact same product in this post, it is NOT 20MB/s, the USB drive is the Exceria card in my laptop SD card slot via an adaptor, U3 is 30MB/s minimum

        • @cwongtech:
i upvoted your comment many hours ago when you said it was 31MB so why are you still making a BIG deal out of my mistake
for getting the wrong speed from the provided link
you are also IGNORING my questions and still attacking me

cwong do you understand you have repeated my mistake over and over and over
cwong do you understand you ignore my questions
          cwong whats wong with you
you also have at least twice quoted me and responded with more waffle without responding to what you are replying to

I am happy to call you and record a debate and i will show the listeners how ignorant and petty you are with repeated attacks and ignoring my questions
You are really embarrassing yourself without realization

Cwong how about you repeat my amazon mistake again and not respond to my questions as a reply to this post

cwong you studied biology now ill ask do you think abortion is taking a human life? think you are smart try to answer that.
might be easy since you are against death penalty

        • -1

          @thelastnoob:

you are also IGNORING my questions and still attacking me

I have not ignored your questions, I have responded factually and accurately with proof. I have not attacked you, all my responses have been related to the card, its speeds and the standards/rating that all manufacturers use. It's not my problem you feel these responses are personally attacking you.

cwong you studied biology now ill ask do you think abortion is taking a human life? think you are smart try to answer that.

Now that's off-topic, however it looks like you've dug up this from some old post of mine. I studied biology a long time ago, and it has absolutely nothing to do with ethics and morals, you learn about how cells work, with no relevance to abortion decisions.
          You study arts for that.
It's a personal choice for those involved with that decision on whether you consider a fetus is conscious or not, the overall well-being of mother (emotional and physical). Other factors should be considered as well, like the financial situation of the parents, the environment of where the child is going to be raised. It's not a black and white answer.

might be easy since you are against death penalty

Jail time doesn't seem to do anything for some criminals except stick them in a box, waste their life, infuriating them for their next visit to society. We have to pay for their little holiday sessions, they contribute to nothing for society except cause pain and death and use up government funds where that money could have been better spent elsewhere on productive members of society. There are those who deserve a second chance and those who do not ever change. I'm not against the death penalty anymore.

think you are smart try to answer that.

          Done.
This is really off-topic, and has nothing to do with the Toshiba 128gb Exceria U3 card

  • Thanks guys, anyone know whats the best write speed for gopro 4 silver? should I get one of it?

    • +1

Maximum bitrate for GoPro 4 silver is 5.7MB/s. At 30 MB/s this card is more than fast enough and will hold 20 hours of video.

Even the GoPro 4 black only has a maximum bitrate of 7.5MB/s

      source

      • thanks Trongy

  • +4

Worked out to be AUD 40.53 on 28 degrees card using Kewjonson's code "mymemory5" on the .de website and using GBP as the currency.

    • how did u get $40.53, I've used the code and paying with 28 degrees this morning, it charged me $42.46 (£23.74)

      • Ordered 11pm last night. My statement says its $40.53 - aussie dollar must have dropped a little over night.

      • I think I had to change an option to pay in the seller's currency rather than PayPal's crappy conversion to AUD. Is it possible this was the problem?

  • This does not work for adoptable storage under Android by default by the way, its below the write speed threshold.

    • So this isnt suitable for quicker phone storage?

      • It's fine for using as extra storage, it's just the you won't be able to use it for adoptable storage. Honestly, it's not really recommended for phones that have fast internal storage anyway (think S6+ gen phones).

I'm currently using one for music storage in my HTC 10.

    • What is the minimum write speed for android? Specifically samsung s7? So that it can be adoptable storage.

      • 30MB/s I think.

        • Then it should be fine, it's 31MB/s write

        • @cwongtech: Problem is Android doesn't see that, so it'll fail the test for adoptable storage. You can manually do it, the method is available if you google it, but adoptable storage isn't recommended for higher end phones anyway.

  • Any good for xiaomi 4k?

Can not find the spec sheet for it.

    Thanks

Thanks OP. I paid £23.74 GBP (A$40.71) using Kewjonson's code "mymemory5" on the .de website and using GBP as the currency.
Handy for using up my Quidco cashback GBPs in PayPal.

Thank to RedSky 12 hours 26 min ago for the .de link:
    http://www.mymemory.de/Micro-SDXC/Toshiba-/Toshiba-128GB-Exc…

I did not find the English language button on this DE site.
Needed to continually right click "Translate to English" for each page.

  • Using it on my LG G5, no complain, fast enough and great for RAW shots!

Thanks OP. I've been waiting for this one to go back on special and it worked out even cheaper than last time. Used the Coles Reloadable Mastercard, de site, GBP and discount code - $40.81 per microSD at the moment, but I've found it adjusts lower. I guess after confirming the conversion rate or something?

    • thanks, i need to do this next time, before i ordered and paid using ppal …would've saved enough for a milkshake or something ;)

  • This is way better than the 128 GB Samsung Evo deal. Better and cheaper

  • .
Thanks MTKR great buy using the mymemory5 code on the German site people are confused about the write speeds and the read speeds manufacturers advertising focus's on
but UHS-1 U3 is the latest and fastest write speeds available for phones & cameras that can capture 4K. for me it's $42.46 …… I'm happy :)

  • +1

Trying to order the card from the German site, it keeps directing me to Paypal and asks to add a credit card although one is already linked. Even if I choose to pay via debit, the site routes me to Paypal anyway. Anyone experiencing similar difficulties?

    • yeah im having the same problem…

      • Managed to order through the UK portal, still ~$40/41 using GPB as currency but they add a 2 pound shipping fee so it`s about $45 overall. Not a bad deal for such a large card and certainly cheaper than the Samsung Evo(+) or Sandisk ultra, especially so if it lives up to the UHS-III write claims, hope that helps.

  • Seems the 64GB version has double the write speeds?

    http://goughlui.com/2014/11/16/quick-review-toshiba-exceria-…

    • For some reason the higher capacity you go the lower the write speeds. Seems like 64gb microsd cards can be faster than the 128gb variants

      • Is that only true for Toshiba or all cards?

The Samsung 256GB EVO+ has R/W speeds of 95/90, as opposed to 80/15 for the 128GB version.

        • Nah its just a general rule for all cards, the smaller the capacity the higher the writing speed.
Probably due to the way it's made (not sure where to find info)

        • +1

@cwongtech: Not all cards are like that…

Even for USB drives, Samsung's Bar Metallic USB3 drives are faster in higher capacities…

  • Anyone received their item yet ? My item dispatched at 22nd but still no news :(

    • +1

Received mine today - 1.5 weeks to Melbourne. :)

  • Mine have just arrived, came in on the 2nd of September. Regional SA.

  • and mine arrived 31 august, works great ;)

  • I bought this from mymemory but it not doing 30 mbps write speed 25 max i got. When i contact them what excuse thay make samsung s7 edge doesn't support sdxc card (got email from them) i have to proof them that samsung s7 edge really support sdxc and u3 card should do min 30mbps write speed. Then now they agree to return it. I send it back yesterday on my own cost. Now waiting for their reply. So not really good customer service.

  • The mymemory UK portal has its own 5%off code running now. Try "VUB5". Cheers!

  • Great deal thx, this is exactly what i was looking for, however the uk version didnt offer free post, but the de did.
