  • I've got the Great White but it mainly stays in the deep section and doesn't do the walls. Will this be better or worse?

    • what is the surface and size of the pool? how old is the great white?

      • 1 year old, just a little 5m x 2m

        • what type of surface does the pool have?

        • @poolspa:

          It has mosaic tiles

        • @LoopyLou:
The Great White would mostly do floors only. Tiles are slippery and many cleaners would struggle. We would recommend the Zodiac MX6 or similar.

        • So this pool cleaner is not suitable for tiled pools?

        • @poolspa:

Thanks OP, at this price I might give it a try anyway!

  • I just bought one from you last week for $99 :(.

    • we would be happy to work out a deal on your next purchase. Contact us before placing an order.

  • what is the best cleaner on the market? pool size is 8m x 3.8

Note: it is a fibreglass pool.

  • Would this be suitable for an 11m x 4m fiberglass pool with steps? Will it clean the steps as well? Can you provide a link for the right hoses please?

    • is suitable, but will probably not do the steps. These are matching hoses

      • Can i use the hose that came with the hand vac, it is a 38mm (internal diameter) hose?

        • if it is a baracuda style hose (which are 38mm), then it should be fine.

  • I bought a Onga Hammerhead Pool Cleaner (Above Ground Wall Climber) from your Hornsby shop for my 9m x 6m in ground fibreglass pool. I have had a lot of trouble with this pool cleaner with the head getting stuck around corners, at the hyrostatic valve and the hose knotting itself. Lately the head does not swivel freely in water also leading to trouble. Fed up with it , I can only run this cleaner on the weekends when i can supervise it and at times have to drag it to clean certain areas . Will a cleaning head like this help alleviate the problems i have been having? Thanks in advance.

    • Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, all pools come with different shapes and especially fibreglass and tiled pools there can be very tight corners. You may find that on other fibreglass pools the hammerhead is perfect. In your situation, we recommend a mechanical suction cleaner as these cleaners have a reverse gear that will get the cleaner out of any corner. Call us on 1300 766 619 to discuss. If your purchase is recent we would be happy to work out an upgrade to a better suitable cleaner.

      • Thanks for you reply. I think its been about a year since I bought this cleaner. Can you still work out an upgrade option to the MX? The onga is getting a little to frustrating to use. Thanks in advance

        • We should be able to work something out… however, we were actually thinking about fitting a deflector wheel. If you didn't buy one, we would be happy to ship you one and see if it resolves the issues. Call us, or send us an email with your details so that we can organize it.

  • Can you check out as guest? Can't see where to enter code…

    • you can check out as guest. You can enter the coupon code on the cart page. Alternatively call us on 1300 766 619 to place the order on the spot.

  • How much suction does the pool pump need to drive the cleaner?
I have a pebblecrete lined concrete pool, but often I don't seem to get much suction when manually vacuuming, and I'm worried it will not be enough for an auto-cleaner.

    • If there is not much suction as you describe, there might be an issue in the filtration system, in which case suction cleaners like this one won't work properly.

Common issues that affect suction that come to mind are:

      • Cartridge filter needs replacing (if you have one)
      • Pump not fully priming
      • Air in the line
      • Thanks. It is likely air in the line then. We had to have a one way valve installed as it got so much air it used to do a big back spray when it turned off.
I'll keep an eye out for when there are specials on the powered cleaners that don't rely on pump. (I'm already on your mailing list)

  • I'll try again - So this pool cleaner is not suitable for tiled pools?

    • it is suitable and it will probably work, but like any other suction cleaners there is a risk that it can get stuck in tight corners.

  • I have a similar designed Onga Hammerhead Pool Cleaner (with a float on the front) in a pebblecrete pool

However it's having trouble maintaining the correct balance - after a period of use it gets too tail heavy and "drags" along the floor.
I have to backwash to reach the optimum flow before it can re-balance itself.

Whereas the previous cleaners i've had had the float on the back. Never a problem with balance.

What are you thoughts on this design ? Will it also suffer the same problem as the Onga?

    • sounds more like a hose weight issue, have you tried adjusting them or even taking them off?

have you tried adjusting the flow valve? - not likely, but worth checking.

  • Hi OP - noticed a small tube loose inside the neck, and a coin slot flow limiter. Are these supposed to be there?
