Having worn a Flex for well over 2 and a half years, and only just recently upgrading to the Alta, I would urge users to consider this deal (Microsoft Band 2) over the Alta.

The main reason I'm dissapointed in the product is that it's essentially a Fitbit Flex, but it can now display the time. Undoubtedly, it's fashionable, but at its price point it doesn't really do anything beyond what the humble Flex can do:

    • No built-in GPS tracking
    • No HR monitor
    • Monochrome
    • Bare-bones specifications

TLDR; Get the Alta because you like the way it looks, otherwise consider this deal if you actually want to get some value for your money.

    • ty for the straight to the point im flex user also and really dont care about the looks i just want it to do its actual design job.

Battery life is 1 of the main killers for me as i use it for food data entering etc.

    • No HR monitor

Compared to a HR monitor that gives wildly inaccurate readings?

    • MS Band 3 coming soon, so 2 price drop likely.

  • Got the alta for a youngster couple weeks back for $134 delivered with the previous eBay coupon sale. Don't need more than this for kids. Minimum age for Fitbit account is 13 though - worth noting if you sign up someone who is really a tad younger.

  • Most of my friends have Fitbit and we compete a lot haha.
Recently my charge HR stopped working and I spoke to Officeworks where I bought it from and they said they're not ordering it anymore as they're trying to bring in the new range (the Alta). So I contacted Fitbit support and without proof of purchase or anything, they're sending me a replacement. I asked the rep what I should do with the old one and they asked me to "recycle it"

My friends are asking me to go back to Officeworks and get a full refund with the extra one. I feel bad as that'll mean i'm getting a free fitbit charge HR.. what would you do?!

      Get new friends.

      • Definitely. Bad sh1t will come back at you if you profit from the goodwill you've already been shown. Don't do it. Recycle your friends too.
